If a farming app, crop-inspection portal or land-record service shows the wrong parcel or crop, first identify who owns that record. A platform’s database, an official cadastral or land register, and a farm-boundary system can be separate. Save the incorrect entry, gather proof, submit the correction to the responsible authority, keep the case reference and verify the updated record. Boundary, ownership and title disputes usually require a different legal or revenue process from a simple data-entry correction.
Start by identifying which record is wrong
Do not assume that changing an entry in one agriculture service changes every land record connected to it. A crop-management platform may keep its own parcel and crop fields, while a government land register, cadastral map, farm-boundary database or subsidy application uses another record. The first authority to contact depends on the record that is actually incorrect.
Only the digital agriculture service is wrong
If the official deed, cadastral extract or land-register copy is correct but an app shows the wrong crop, area or parcel identifier, contact the service operator or its designated local agriculture officer. Ask whether the correction is handled by a help desk, a local field officer, a revenue office or a formal online application. A platform correction normally changes that service’s data; it is not proof that legal ownership or the registered boundary has changed.
The official land or cadastral record is wrong
Use the land-record, cadastral or revenue authority’s correction route. A government register may require a title or parcel number, identity verification, supporting documents and sometimes a survey or hearing. Reporting the error to a private or departmental agriculture app will not, by itself, amend the official register.

Both records appear to be wrong
Ask each organization whether a separate request is required. Give both authorities the same factual description, but do not assume that one case number covers the other. Record which organization controls each field and whether an update in one system is automatically imported into another.
Document the discrepancy before you submit anything
A precise record makes it easier for an official to locate the entry and decide whether it is a clerical correction or a substantive dispute.
- Save a screenshot or download of the incorrect page, including the service name, date, parcel or farm identifier and visible status. If the service does not allow downloads, photograph the screen and keep the original file.
- Write down the exact field that is wrong, the value currently displayed and the value you believe is correct. Examples include crop type, season, cultivated area, plot number, owner name, address, land classification or adjacent-farm boundary.
- Collect documents that prove the disputed field: a land-record extract, deed, prior crop submission, survey, official acknowledgement, lease or agency correspondence. Send only relevant pages and redact unrelated personal information where the authority permits.
- Note the account, application, title, registration or parcel number used by the service. Similar-looking parcels can belong to different records.
- Keep an evidence log showing when you noticed the error, whom you contacted, what you submitted and every reference number.
Evidence requirements differ. HM Land Registry in England and Wales asks for identifying information and supporting evidence where available. Other authorities may require an official form, an inspection, biometric verification or documents in a specified format. Do not rely on a general checklist as a substitute for the responsible authority’s current requirements.

Use the authority’s official correction workflow
- Identify the record owner. Check the service’s help, terms or contact page and the issuing authority named on the record. If ownership is unclear, ask in writing which office controls the field.
- State the correction in one sentence. Include the record identifier, wrong value, requested value and the date you observed it. Separate facts from assumptions about how the mistake occurred.
- Attach focused evidence. Label files so the reviewer can match each document to the disputed field. Protect unrelated identity, financial and neighboring-owner information.
- Submit through an official channel. This may be an in-app correction request, government portal, local agriculture or revenue officer, land-record office or designated service center. Avoid sending deeds or identity documents to an unverified address.
- Save the acknowledgement. Retain the receipt, ticket, application number, email confirmation or stamped copy. A screenshot of a successful submission is useful if the portal later changes status.
- Answer follow-up requests promptly. The authority may ask for clearer documents, identity verification, a formal application, a field inspection or a survey. Ask what deadline applies and whether the record is temporarily locked while it reviews the case.
- Check the result in the source system. When told the correction is complete, sign in or obtain a fresh extract and confirm every affected field. If the request is refused, ask for the written reason and the next review, appeal, hearing or legal route.
Choose the route that matches the problem

How official procedures differ by jurisdiction
The following examples show why country and record type must be confirmed before anyone gives you a form, fee or deadline. They are not interchangeable instructions.
England and Wales: HM Land Registry
HM Land Registry accepts reports of errors in a register entry, title plan or copy document. A report should include as much identifying information as possible, such as the title number or reference, together with supporting evidence if available. The registry investigates and may ask for more information or a formal application. If it corrects the register or title plan, it supplies an updated copy.
HM Land Registry’s published estimated completion time for a correction it can make is 20 working days. That is a service estimate for England and Wales, published in guidance dated 9 March 2026; complex errors can take longer. It is not a general deadline for agricultural records in other countries or systems.

Maharashtra, India: crop-inspection entry
The Maharashtra Land Records portal describes a localized workflow for an incorrect crop-inspection entry made by an assistant. The farmer should bring the error to the village revenue officer’s attention and have the entry rejected. Once rejected, the parcel becomes available again in the assistant’s reassigned work so the crop entry can be made again. This procedure concerns that crop-survey system and should not be treated as a general land-registry correction process.

Incra’s guidance for the National System for Rural Property Registration concerns registration data, not every crop or land application. Rural-property records should be updated when area, ownership, exploitation or legal status changes. If insufficient or divergent data prevents a certificate from being issued, the property holder should update the electronic rural-property declaration or contact an Incra service unit. Confirm whether your problem is an SNCR update or an error in another platform before filing.
West Bengal, India: minor land-record corrections
West Bengal describes a route for clerical or documentary errors in land records, including a name, address, plot, area, classification or other record detail, supported by relevant documents. Its guidance, last updated 26 June 2026, distinguishes these minor corrections from major ownership, boundary or title disputes. The latter may require a separate legal or revenue proceeding rather than a simple correction request.

Punjab, Pakistan: land-record correction
The Punjab Land Records Authority describes an application followed by document review, possible field verification, technical review and approval. Depending on the correction, the request may be handled at an Arazi Record Centre or Dahi Markaz Mall. Physical appearance for biometric verification is required in most cases. Requirements depend on the correction type, so confirm the applicable center, documents and identity steps before travelling.
Greece: specified rural cadastral documents
Gov.gr provides a service for requesting correction of specified cadastral data, concession documents or decisions of an agricultural-property expropriation committee. It requires Taxisnet credentials and supporting documents, and delivers the response through the portal inbox. Regional coverage has been added gradually, so verify that the service covers the property’s region before relying on it.

USDA Farm Service Agency Notice CM-806 addresses existing farms with incorrect adjacent boundaries in its farm-record system. Staff are directed to review ownership records for all associated farms, obtain additional evidence when needed and notify affected producers of changes. This agency process is not automatically the procedure for a crop-insurance database, a private platform or a county land register.

Clerical correction versus a land dispute
A transposed plot number, misspelled name or wrong crop code may be resolved by correcting a record. A disagreement about who owns land, where a boundary lies, inheritance rights, a neighboring parcel or the validity of a deed is different. The authority may need a survey, public notice, hearing, revenue case or court proceeding. Ask the office to classify the issue and explain the correct route before you submit a simple data-correction request.
Do not use a successful app correction as evidence that title has changed. Conversely, a correct deed does not guarantee that every agricultural service has synchronized its database. Obtain the updated official extract, plan or decision that legally controls the matter.
Follow-up, delays and refusal
Portal status labels can be vague. After filing, ask what the next review stage is, whether an inspection is required and how you will be notified. Keep copies of additional documents and record the date each item was delivered. If an authority asks for a formal application after an informal report, submit the formal application through the specified channel rather than assuming the initial report is enough.

If the office cannot correct the entry, request the reason in writing. It may have found that the evidence concerns a different parcel, that the record is outside its jurisdiction, that a title dispute must be decided elsewhere or that an identity check is incomplete. Ask for the available review or appeal route, its filing deadline and any required hearing or survey. Exact fees, forms and deadlines cannot be determined without the country, service and record type.

- Have you responded to every request for evidence, inspection, identity verification or a formal form?
- Did you obtain the updated record or a written reason for refusal?
- If the issue concerns title, ownership, inheritance or boundaries, did you ask about the separate legal or revenue process?
