If someone took over your Roblox account, first remove suspicious downloads and browser extensions, run a full malware scan, then use Roblox’s Forgot Password or Username? recovery flow. If you regain access, immediately set a unique password, enable two-step verification (2SV), and save backup recovery methods. If self-service recovery fails, contact Roblox Support with ownership evidence. Handle unauthorized payments through the provider that processed them, and contact Roblox promptly—its current guidance gives a 30-day window to request limited help with lost inventory.
Act in this order to stop the takeover
A stolen Roblox login is often part of a wider compromise. An infostealer, malicious browser extension, or fake “free Robux” page may still be able to capture the new password or session cookie. Contain the device before changing credentials, then recover the account through Roblox’s official channels.
- Disconnect the cause. Remove unofficial Roblox downloads, cheats, executors, cracked software, and browser extensions you do not recognize. If the account was used on a shared computer, stop using that device for recovery until it has been checked.
- Scan the device. Run a full scan with your operating system’s reputable antivirus or antimalware utility. Restart the computer and run a second full scan. A quick scan is not a substitute when an account and browser session may have been stolen.
- Reset the Roblox password. Open Roblox’s Forgot Password or Username? flow and use the email address or phone number currently linked to the account.
- Contact Roblox Support if reset fails. Explain that the account was hacked or stolen and that normal password recovery does not work. Do not use account-recovery sellers, traders, or people who promise to “unlock” an account.
- Secure every account that could be connected. Change the password for the linked email account and any other service where you reused the old Roblox password. Turn on 2SV for the email account as well.
Do not keep trying random passwords on a potentially infected device. Repeated attempts can create lockouts while malware continues to capture what you type.

When you still control the linked email or phone
Choose Forgot Password or Username? on the Roblox sign-in screen, enter the email address or phone number attached to the account, and follow the reset message or code. Create a password that is long, unique to Roblox, and not based on a name, birthday, username, or commonly used phrase.

If the reset message does not arrive, check spam and confirm that you entered the exact address used on the account. A changed email address may mean the attacker replaced your recovery detail; in that case, do not assume a new reset message will reach you.
When the attacker changed the email or phone
If you have no usable recovery email or phone, contact Roblox Customer Support and describe the login problem. Roblox says it must verify that you are the account owner before it can reset access or change account information. Give a factual timeline: when you last had access, what changed, and whether purchases or inventory disappeared.
The first email address ever added to the account can help establish ownership, even if an attacker later changed it. If you paid for Robux or another Roblox purchase, the billing email used for the first payment may also help. Roblox says these details can assist verification but do not guarantee that the account will be recovered.

- Your Roblox username and any previous usernames you remember.
- The first email address added to the account, if known.
- The billing email used for the first payment, if different.
- Approximate date and time you lost access.
- Devices and locations normally used to sign in.
- Descriptions of changed email, password, display name, or security settings.
- Purchase dates, amounts, order numbers, or payment-provider details if charges are involved.
Send only the information requested through the official support form. Never put a full card number, password, browser cookie, 2SV code, or backup code in an unsecured message.

What Roblox may restore—and what it does not promise
Recovery is not automatic. Roblox states that it is under no general obligation to assist users whose accounts were compromised except where the law requires it. It does not guarantee restoration of the account, Robux, or virtual items. In limited circumstances it may provide restricted recovery of lost inventory or an approximate value, but that is discretionary rather than a replacement guarantee.
If you want Roblox to consider limited help for lost inventory or approximate value, contact Support within 30 days of the compromise. The 30-day period is a deadline in Roblox’s current hacked-account guidance, not a promise of success. Keep screenshots, transaction records, and a written list of missing items so your request is precise.
Do not confuse a hacked-account request with a moderation appeal. A moderation appeal concerns an enforcement action; a takeover report concerns unauthorized access and ownership verification. Select the support category that matches the access problem.

Secure the account after you get back in
Replace the password and end unsafe sessions
- Open Roblox account settings and change the password again if you created it before finishing the malware check.
- Use a password never used on another site. A password manager can generate and store one, but Roblox does not require you to buy a particular product.
- Review account email, phone, birthday, linked devices, and privacy settings for changes you did not make.
- Sign out of other sessions or devices if the account settings provide that option. Remove unknown sessions and repeat the password change if a device reappears.
- Change the password of the email account linked to Roblox and inspect its forwarding rules and recovery addresses for unauthorized changes.
Turn on two-step verification
In Roblox account settings, open the security section and enable 2SV. Roblox’s security material lists an authenticator app, email, and security key as possible methods; its hacked-account guidance specifically recommends an authenticator app. The setup page requires a verified email address and allows only one 2SV method to be selected at a time.

- Verify the email address on the Roblox account.
- Choose the available 2SV method in security settings.
- Complete the test code or key prompt to confirm the method works.
- Generate and save the backup codes in a private location. Do not store them in a public profile, chat, screenshot folder shared with others, or a message to another person.
- Add a second recovery method where Roblox allows it. Losing the only primary method without two different verification methods can leave you unable to regain access.
For users under 13, Roblox describes a parent-verified email as a parental recovery option. Phone verification is available only in select countries, so do not assume a phone option will appear for every account or region.
Protect the secrets attackers target
- Never share your password, browser cookies, 2SV security codes, backup codes, or sensitive computer information.
- Roblox employees will not ask for your password or verification codes.
- “Free Robux” offers that request a login, cookie, code, or download are common theft tactics.
- Do not paste scripts into a browser console or install an executor because someone promises currency or items.
- Keep your operating system, browser, and security software updated, and remove extensions you cannot identify.
Check for unauthorized Robux or card charges
First identify the charge descriptor and the company that processed the payment. The correct refund route depends on that provider. Record the date, amount, currency, billing name, and the last four digits of the card, but never send the full card number or your Roblox password.

For a Roblox support request, include charge dates and amounts, the billing name, the last four card digits, the payment account information requested by Support, purchase numbers, and your Roblox username if known. Keep copies of receipts and case numbers. If your bank says the card itself is compromised, follow the bank’s instructions to freeze or replace it even while the Roblox case is open.

If you cannot prove ownership
Roblox may be unable to change an account when the information supplied does not establish that you are the owner. A display name, a screenshot of an avatar, or knowledge of recent game activity alone may not be enough. The first account email and first-payment billing email are useful because they can remain associated with the account history after an attacker changes current contact information, but Roblox still does not guarantee recovery.
Use one consistent Support case rather than opening many tickets with different stories. Explain which recovery methods you tried, identify the account precisely, and answer follow-up questions from the official support channel. Be cautious of anyone offering to “verify” you for a fee; handing over credentials or payment details can create a second theft.

Someone changed only the password
Run the device-cleanup steps, use the linked email or phone to reset the password, then enable 2SV and review the account for changed security details. A password change without an email change is still a full compromise until you inspect sessions and linked information.
Someone changed the email and password
Do not rely on the current email shown on a login screen. Contact Roblox Support, provide the first email or first-payment billing email if available, and describe the date of the takeover. Change the password on your own email account before sending recovery information.

You see missing Robux or items
Secure access first, then document what is missing and when you noticed it. Ask Roblox about limited inventory assistance within 30 days of the compromise. Do not promise yourself that every item or its full value will be restored.
A family member’s account was taken
Have the account owner participate in the Support request. For a child under 13, check whether a parent-verified email is available as a recovery option. Keep the child from sharing codes or installing “free Robux” tools while the case is being handled.
You bought an account or traded outside Roblox’s official systems
Roblox says it cannot enforce or recover inventory from deals outside its official systems. Do not give a seller your password or pay an account-recovery service. Report the compromise through Roblox’s official support route and treat any promised recovery as a scam unless it comes from Roblox itself.

- Unique Roblox password, stored privately.
- Verified email address that you control.
- 2SV enabled and tested.
- Backup codes saved offline and at least two recovery methods maintained where available.
- No unknown browser extensions, executors, cracked software, or unofficial downloads.
- Email-account password changed and email 2SV enabled.
- Receipts and support case numbers retained for any disputed purchase.
- No password, cookie, code, or personal details shared with another player or supposed employee.
Roblox’s interfaces, available recovery methods, and payment-provider routing can change. When a screen label differs, start from the current Roblox Help and Customer Support pages rather than following an unofficial link or message.
The Bottom Line
Clean the device first, try Roblox’s password reset, and contact official Support when self-service recovery fails. If access returns, use a unique password, 2SV, and backup methods; for charges, report them to the processor that handled the payment and observe Roblox’s 30-day window for limited lost-inventory requests.
