Start with Settings > Battery > Battery usage. The ranking there usually reveals whether an app, the display, a radio connection, heat, or the charging path is responsible. Record the battery percentage, screen-on time, temperature, network conditions, and top battery users before changing anything. Then change one variable at a time, restart the tablet, and compare the same workload.

Most fast drain is recoverable: a stuck background app, maximum brightness or refresh rate, gaming, video, hotspot use, weak signal, or an overheated charger can consume power quickly. If the tablet remains cool yet loses substantial charge while idle after these checks, the battery may need professional testing. iQOO Care advises service-center testing when maximum battery capacity is below 80%.

First, establish whether the drain is actually abnormal

A large percentage drop during gaming, high-frame-rate video, hotspot use, or charging in a warm room is not equivalent to losing the same percentage while the tablet is asleep. A useful diagnosis starts with a controlled baseline.

  1. Charge to a convenient, documented level and note the time.
  2. Write down screen-on time, room and device temperature, Wi-Fi or hotspot status, Bluetooth and other radios, and what you were doing.
  3. Open Settings > Battery > Battery usage and record the highest entries and their percentages.
  4. Use the tablet normally for a defined period, such as one hour of video or eight hours overnight, without changing other settings.
  5. Record the ending percentage and repeat the same test after one change. This prevents a coincidental improvement from being mistaken for a fix.

Android’s 2024 battery guidance notes that rapid drain can occur on phones and tablets and recommends checking usage, restarting, and installing updates as first-line troubleshooting.

Find the app or service using power in the background

The battery-usage list is the fastest way to identify an abnormal consumer. Look for an app whose background share is disproportionate to the time you spent using it, a service that remains active after you closed it, or a recently installed or updated app that appears near the top.

Restrict an infrequently used app

  1. In Settings > Battery > Battery usage, select the suspected app.
  2. Review its foreground and background consumption.
  3. Use the available battery-optimization or background-restriction control for apps you do not need running continuously.
  4. Open the app again only when you need current data or notifications.

Restrictions can delay messages, synchronization, location updates, or media uploads. Do not apply aggressive limits to apps that must deliver time-sensitive alerts.

Force-stop, then uninstall if necessary

Force-stop a suspicious app from its app-info screen, restart the tablet, and observe the same workload again. If the app immediately returns to the top of the list without a clear reason, update it from the Play Store or the tablet’s supported app channel. Uninstall it if the behavior continues and you can use the tablet without it. A restart matters because it clears a process that may not end when an app window is dismissed.

Reduce display and workload demand

The screen and processor can dominate consumption even when every app is behaving correctly. High brightness, a high refresh rate, demanding games, high-frame-rate playback, and a hot chassis all increase power draw.

Use a lower-power display setup

  • Lower brightness to the minimum that remains comfortable indoors; disable any setting that keeps brightness elevated unnecessarily.
  • Shorten Settings > Display screen timeout so the panel turns off promptly when you stop using the tablet.
  • Enable Battery Saver during travel or other periods when runtime matters more than peak performance.
  • If your regional OriginOS build offers it, switch the display from the highest refresh rate to Smart Switch or 60Hz. The exact label can vary by software version.

Match performance to the task

Long gaming sessions, 3D graphics, sustained recording, video streaming, and multitasking keep the processor, graphics hardware, storage, network and display active together. Lower a game’s frame-rate or graphics preset, download video for offline playback when practical, and close workloads you are not using. Heat is both a symptom and an amplifier: as the chassis warms, the system may run less efficiently and you may continue using the demanding task longer because the tablet is plugged in.

If the tablet is hot, pause the workload, remove any insulating cover, move it out of direct sun, and let it cool before judging battery life. Do not use a hot device as evidence of a defective battery until demanding work and charging heat have been separated.

Check Wi-Fi, hotspot and other radios

Connectivity can drain a tablet quietly, especially when it is searching for a reliable connection. A weak cellular or Wi-Fi signal can make the radio retry repeatedly. Hotspot mode is particularly expensive because the tablet maintains its own connection while serving other devices.

  • Turn off hotspot immediately after the other device disconnects.
  • Disable Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi or mobile data when you are not using each function.
  • Prefer a stable Wi-Fi network where practical instead of a weak or fluctuating connection.
  • In a poor-signal area, test overnight with the unused radio disabled or with the tablet in a location with a stronger signal.

Make one radio change at a time and keep the screen and app workload constant. Otherwise, you will not know whether the improvement came from connectivity or from a separate setting.

Install updates and restart before deeper intervention

Pending system or app updates can contain fixes for wakelocks, synchronization loops, modem behavior, and battery reporting. Install updates offered for your exact regional OriginOS build and your apps, then restart the tablet. Repeat the baseline test after the restart. Android lists updating and restarting among standard battery troubleshooting steps because they are low-risk and can clear a process or software state that is keeping hardware awake.

Do not infer that a temporary percentage jump after an update proves the battery is repaired. Allow the tablet to complete a comparable workload and, if needed, one full idle period before drawing a conclusion.

Verify the USB-C charger and cable

A charging problem can look like rapid drain: the tablet may charge slowly, stop charging intermittently, or lose power while you are using it because the adapter supplies less power than the workload consumes. Use the supplied charger and cable, or a USB-C charger demonstrably compatible with the tablet’s voltage and current requirements.

Android warns that an incompatible third-party adapter can regulate voltage improperly and create excess heat. Stop using any adapter, cable, plug or outlet that becomes unusually hot, smells abnormal, sparks, or repeatedly disconnects. Try a known-good cable and wall outlet, checking that the USB-C plug is fully seated and the port is free of visible debris. Never probe the port with metal.

Measure charging behavior if the symptom is unclear

An optional USB-C power meter tester can show whether the tablet is drawing power and whether that draw changes when the cable is moved or a workload starts. It is a diagnostic aid, not a cure and not proof of a particular charging wattage. Compare readings with the tablet cool and idle, then with the same workload that previously caused the percentage to fall. If input repeatedly drops to zero, fluctuates with a stable cable, or remains implausibly low, stop testing with that accessory and seek service rather than forcing a connection.

Run a controlled overnight drain test

Overnight loss is easiest to interpret when the starting conditions are explicit. Charge the tablet, note the starting percentage and temperature, then close active apps, disable hotspot and unused radios, and place it where the signal is normally stable. Keep the same battery-saver and refresh-rate settings for the entire test. Record the ending percentage and inspect Settings > Battery > Battery usage in the morning.

A substantial loss with a clear app or radio at the top points to software or connectivity. A similar loss with no meaningful user activity, a cool chassis, and no dominant consumer is stronger evidence of a charging, firmware, or battery-condition problem. Repeat once to rule out a one-time synchronization job or update.

Decide when the battery itself needs testing

Escalate after you have controlled the common causes: no abnormal app remains, display and workload settings are reasonable, unused radios are off, software is current, the tablet has been restarted, and a compatible charger and cable have been checked. Persistent drain while the tablet is cool and idle is not something a brightness adjustment can fix.

iQOO Care’s 2025 community guidance says that when maximum battery capacity is less than 80%, the owner should bring the device, purchase receipt and warranty card to a customer-service center for further battery-condition testing. The 80% figure is a service threshold, not a promise that the tablet will fail immediately above it. Back up important data before service, and provide your overnight results, battery-usage screenshots, charger details and approximate temperatures.

Use the correct model and regional specifications

Published specifications for the 8.8-inch model are not uniform across sources. A 2026 IT之家 report describes the iQOO Pad Pro 8.8-inch as having a 9,020mAh battery. Treat that as press-reported prelaunch context until an official page for your region confirms it.

An earlier official iQOO Pad family page from vivo China lists a 10,000mAh typical capacity, 44W FlashCharge, USB-C charging and OriginOS 3 based on Android 13. Those are family figures, not the exact specification of the 8.8-inch tablet. Do not buy a charger or judge charging speed from those numbers alone. Check the label on your tablet, its regional product page and the charger supplied in your box; OriginOS menus and supported charging behavior can differ by region and software build.

Choose the next intervention by evidence

Evidence Most likely cause Next action
One app dominates background usage Runaway process or excessive synchronization Restrict, force-stop, update or uninstall the app; restart and retest
Drain rises during gaming, high refresh or video Display and processor workload Lower brightness or refresh rate, reduce game settings, enable Battery Saver and cool the tablet
Drain improves when hotspot or a weak connection is removed Radio retries or hotspot service Disable unused radios and prefer stable Wi-Fi
Charge is intermittent or the adapter is unusually hot Cable, adapter, outlet or port Stop using the suspect hardware; test a compatible charger and cable
Cool, idle drain persists with no dominant consumer Firmware or battery-condition fault Document the test and request professional diagnostics

Safety and data precautions

  • Stop charging if the tablet, adapter or cable becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, smells chemical, or shows physical damage.
  • Do not open the tablet or attempt a battery replacement without qualified service; lithium-ion cells can ignite when punctured or mishandled.
  • Back up photos, documents and authenticator data before a factory reset or service visit. A reset is not a first step when battery-usage evidence has not been collected.
  • Keep records of the exact OriginOS version, charger model, starting and ending percentages, and screenshots of battery usage. These details help a technician reproduce the condition.
