If an AT&T trade-in credit is missing, first open the bill for the affected wireless line and select View discounts, then check the device in AT&T’s trade-in status tracker. Compare what you find with the exact promotion terms and its posting window. AT&T’s published pages describe different windows—1–3 billing cycles, 2–3 billing cycles, or 3–4 bill periods—so there is no single deadline that applies to every offer.
If the applicable window has passed, or the tracker, bill and promotion terms conflict, contact AT&T through the support route shown in your account or bill. For a trade-in completed through a national retailer, AT&T lists 855-975-4064. Have your trade-in confirmation, order details, shipment records, affected bill and promotion terms ready.
Start with the bill, not the device price
Trade-in promotions usually reduce the cost of an eligible device through recurring monthly bill credits. They are not necessarily a one-time cash payment or an immediate reduction in the purchase price. The credit normally attaches to a particular wireless line and an eligible device installment, so looking at the wrong line or the wrong type of account activity can make a valid credit appear to be missing.
Open the correct bill and line
- Sign in to AT&T and open the billing center.
- Under Last bill, choose View discounts.
- If the account has several wireless lines or other AT&T services, select the line that received the new device and was associated with the trade-in promotion.
- Review the discounts for that line rather than relying only on the total amount due.
AT&T also advises checking the customer service summary to confirm that the account and offer requirements were recorded as satisfied. A credit can be present under the intended line even when the account-level total is difficult to interpret.

Check the trade-in status tracker
Use AT&T’s trade-in status tracker to see whether the returned device is still processing. AT&T’s own support guidance says, “Your trade-in may still be processing.” A processing status means the absence of a bill credit is not necessarily a rejection; the device may not yet have completed inspection or eligibility review.
Keep the tracker result with the date you checked it. If the status later changes, that record helps you explain the sequence to support.
Use the promotion’s actual posting window
AT&T publishes more than one timing statement for trade-in and wireless offer credits. The difference reflects the specific offer and the point from which AT&T measures eligibility. Use the terms attached to your promotion as the controlling reference.

AT&T’s trade-in status guidance says, “Once you’ve met all promo requirements, you’ll receive the promo credits within 1-3 billing cycles.” Its trade-in deals guidance says, “Check your AT&T Wireless℠ bill for your credits (this may take 2 – 3 billing cycles).” The general billing page says, “Don’t forget, bill credits can take three to four bill periods to appear.” These are AT&T statements, accessed October 13, 2026, rather than an independent guarantee.

Do not treat the first bill after activation as a universal deadline. Determine which offer you accepted, identify when AT&T marked its requirements complete, and count the applicable billing cycles or bill periods from that point. Billing-cycle language also means a calendar period on your account; it does not necessarily mean a fixed number of days.
Confirm that the promotion is still eligible
A delayed credit and a stopped credit have different causes. If the tracker shows the device was received but the credit never begins, or if credits appeared and then disappeared, recheck the conditions below against the offer terms.
Verify the eligible device and installment
Trade-in eligibility, required device condition, promotional value and installment requirements vary by offer. Confirm that the new phone is the device named in the promotion and that the trade-in was associated with the correct order and wireless line. The public AT&T pages cannot determine whether a particular customer’s device or offer was accepted; your account record and the offer terms decide that question.

Check whether the installment was paid off
AT&T states that paying off the device installment early can stop promotional credits. The remaining balance may still be payable even when future credits are no longer scheduled. Check the installment details and the promotion’s early-payoff language before assuming a missing month is a billing error.

Check for an early upgrade or trade-in replacement
AT&T also says an early trade-in upgrade can stop credits. If you changed devices, upgraded the line or initiated another trade-in before the original installment schedule ended, review the terms for the original offer and the transaction that replaced it.
Distinguish a promotional credit from other trade-in value
A promotion may provide monthly bill credits tied to an installment, while a separate trade-in estimate, instant value, promotional card or account adjustment follows different rules. Look for the exact description in your order confirmation and offer terms. Do not assume that an advertised trade-in value must appear as a single line-item credit on the wireless bill.
Review mailing and device-preparation requirements
For an online trade-in, AT&T says the device should be sent within 30 days of activating the new device. Its general trade-in terms also describe a 30-day period after accepting the trade-in offer to ship the device. Use the deadline stated in your own offer if it differs, and keep the shipment receipt and delivery confirmation.
Check delivery and inspection records
- Confirm that the package was sent to the address and trade-in program specified by AT&T.
- Keep the carrier tracking number, acceptance scan and delivery date.
- Compare the delivery date with the promotion’s 30-day requirement.
- Save any email or account message showing that AT&T received the device.
Remove activation locks before shipping
AT&T advises disabling activation locks before sending a device. An active lock can delay processing and may lead to a loss or reduction of trade-in value. Before shipment, remove the device from the applicable account, erase it according to the manufacturer’s instructions and verify that it no longer requests the previous owner’s credentials during setup. If you already shipped a locked device, tell support exactly what happened rather than sending a second device or opening another trade-in request.

Match the symptom to the next action
The tracker says “processing”
Wait for the offer-specific billing window while monitoring the tracker and each bill’s View discounts section. Processing indicates that the trade-in review may not be complete. If the stated window expires with no eligibility decision or credit, contact support with the tracker status, shipment proof and the promotion terms.
The device shows as received, but no credit appears
Check whether AT&T marked all promotion requirements complete, not merely whether the package arrived. Reconfirm the wireless line, the new-device installment and the offer’s required trade-in value or condition. Then count the applicable 1–3, 2–3 or 3–4 billing-cycle window from the completion date shown in your records.
The credit appeared, then stopped
Review installment activity and recent changes on the line. Early payoff and an early trade-in upgrade are conditions AT&T identifies as capable of stopping credits. If neither occurred, compare the bill where the credit stopped with the preceding bill and ask support to explain the specific change.
The credit is on a different line or bill
Return to the bill’s line-level discount view. Multi-line accounts can make a credit look absent when it is attached to the line that received the promoted device. If the order confirmation names one line but the bill shows another, preserve both records and ask AT&T to correct or explain the association.

Contact AT&T when the window has passed or records disagree
Use the support contact presented in your AT&T account or bill for ordinary online and account-based trade-ins. The public guidance does not identify one universal escalation path for every trade-in channel, so the route may depend on how you completed the transaction.
National-retailer trade-ins
For a trade-in completed at a national retailer, AT&T specifically lists 855-975-4064. Tell the representative that you are checking a missing promotional trade-in credit and provide the retailer, order date, wireless number and trade-in tracking information.
Prepare a complete evidence packet
- AT&T order or trade-in confirmation.
- The promotion name or terms that applied when you ordered.
- The new device’s installment details and affected wireless line.
- Trade-in shipment receipt, tracking history and delivery confirmation, if mailed.
- Screenshots or notes from the trade-in status tracker.
- The bill where the credit should appear and, if relevant, the bill where it stopped.
- Any message showing that AT&T accepted, rejected or requested more information about the device.
Ask support to identify the exact unmet requirement or the date on which the account became eligible. If the representative says the credit is pending, request the expected billing cycle and the case or interaction number. If the representative says the offer is ineligible, ask which term applies and whether the decision concerns device condition, shipment timing, line eligibility, installment status or another requirement.

AT&T’s public guidance provides general timing and process instructions, but it cannot show whether your individual device arrived, passed inspection, was attached to the correct offer or remains eligible after an account change. Only the account record, trade-in record and terms for your promotion can resolve those facts.
There is also no published incidence statistic in the available AT&T material showing how often trade-in credits go missing. The numerical figures above are processing windows and shipping deadlines, not a measurement of billing errors.
