If Yandex Disk is not syncing, first identify whether the problem is the Windows desktop sync folder, a phone upload, a download, or what you see in a browser. For desktop uploads, check the internet connection, available Disk storage, sync and folder settings, file limits and access, then network-security settings. Avoid deleting or reinstalling the sync folder as an early fix: desktop sync mirrors deletions to the cloud.
First identify what is not syncing
Yandex Disk uses different workflows for desktop folders, mobile uploads, downloads and the website. A phone file that has not been uploaded manually, or a download that is blocked, does not by itself mean desktop sync is broken.

Fix a Windows desktop sync problem
Work through these checks in order. Yandex lists each of them as a possible reason files cannot upload or sync.

1. Verify the computer is online
Open another website or service to confirm the computer has internet access. If the Disk app stays on “Syncing,” check whether long file names are involved and whether antivirus software or a firewall is blocking the connection. Do not leave security protections disabled; if a security rule is responsible, make only the narrow exception needed for Yandex Disk. Yandex’s sync troubleshooting guide and support guidance describe these causes.

2. Check available Disk storage
An exhausted storage allowance prevents uploads. Emptying Trash may free space, because deleted items in Trash still count against storage. Check the account’s available space and Trash before retrying.
3. Confirm sync and the folder are enabled
In the desktop app’s settings, confirm synchronization is enabled and that the intended folder is selected. Yandex lists disabled syncing, no selected folder, an unavailable folder, or a folder already used by another Disk account as possible causes. Make sure the folder exists and is accessible; if it is not, select a different folder in settings.

4. Check the file’s size, name and access
Yandex Help states that the per-file upload limit is 1 GB on the free plan and 50 GB with Yandex 360 Premium; its error guidance says files over 50 GB cannot be uploaded. These are plan-specific limits, and Yandex does not state a publication year for them in the cited pages, so check the current account plan and the error shown by the app. Uploads may also fail if another program is using the file, your account lacks permission to access it, or its name contains invalid non-Unicode characters. 5. Investigate a “Connection error”
Check that the connection is stable and whether a proxy, antivirus program or firewall is interfering. Yandex’s guidance says ports 443 and 5222 must be open. If you change a firewall or security-software rule, limit the change to the necessary Yandex Disk exception rather than disabling protection generally.

6. Distinguish slow sync from stopped sync
Yandex says sync speed is designed to conserve bandwidth and system resources, and your internet provider may also limit speed. Check the connection speed and whether other applications are using the connection before treating a slow transfer as a failure. An Ethernet connection is an optional diagnostic only if the computer supports it and you suspect unstable Wi-Fi; it will not resolve an account, file or folder-setting problem.
7. Escalate if the file still does not appear
If files show the app’s syncing indicator but remain absent from other computers or the web interface after these checks, report the issue to Yandex. For a desktop problem, include the program logs. Use Yandex’s desktop support instructions.

When the issue is on a phone
Uploads and edits are not generally automatic
Yandex says ordinary mobile uploads and downloads are manual; photo and video auto-upload is a distinct setting. Editing a file downloaded to a phone does not necessarily upload the edit. When sync is not enabled in the mobile app, download and upload the file manually. See Yandex’s instructions for opening files.
Offline files are local copies
The Offline section keeps selected files on the phone for access there and updates them after reconnection. Removing a file from that section clears the phone’s copy rather than deleting the cloud original. This is different from desktop folder sync.

Report a mobile app failure
When possible, use the app’s Help and support or report-an-error flow so technical information reaches support. If the app crashes or cannot submit a report, use the Yandex Disk app support page to find the feedback route.
Check downloads and browser display separately
A file may not download because its owner disabled downloads, a temporary restriction applies to a public file, or the connection is slow. On a phone, Yandex also documents download troubleshooting at its mobile download help page. These are download problems, not proof that desktop syncing is broken.
If the website appears to show stale content, the browser may be serving cached data. Extensions, an outdated browser, antivirus, firewall or proxy can also interfere. Check the file from another browser or device and investigate those factors before changing desktop sync settings.
Protect files while troubleshooting
Desktop sync is bidirectional: edits, copies and deletions in the synced folder are reflected on the server, and website uploads appear in the desktop program. A file deleted from the desktop sync folder is also deleted from the cloud. Yandex says deleted items remain in Trash for 30 days before automatic deletion, and continue to count against storage during that period. See Yandex’s explanation of how syncing works.
If the same file is changed on devices while they are disconnected, Yandex may rename one arriving version with “(2).” Working on the same files across several devices at once can also result in conflicts, duplicates or lost files. Keep a separate copy of important files before making significant changes, and do not delete or reinstall the synced folder as an early troubleshooting step.
