Start with the transaction hash, not the balance shown in your wallet. Check the transaction on a Polygon explorer, confirm the destination address and token contract, and determine whether you made a direct Polygon transfer or a cross-chain bridge transfer. A missing balance can be a wallet display problem; a confirmed transfer to an exchange, another person, or an unknown address is a different situation with no guaranteed reversal.
Do not share a seed phrase or private key with anyone offering recovery. You will need the hash, network details, addresses, amount, and destination service, but never secret credentials.
First, establish exactly what happened
Before changing wallet settings or contacting support, write down the facts while they are easy to verify:
- The complete transaction hash.
- The network you sent from and the network you intended to receive on.
- The full sending and receiving addresses.
- The token amount and the token contract shown by the transaction.
- Whether you made a direct USDT0 transfer on Polygon PoS or initiated a cross-chain transfer through USDT0 or another bridge.
- Whether the destination is your own self-custody wallet, an exchange deposit address, another person, or an address you do not recognize.
Never send a seed phrase or private key to support, a bridge operator, or a supposed recovery agent. A transaction hash and public addresses are sufficient for normal troubleshooting.

Check the transaction on Polygon
Open the Polygon explorer independently and search the transaction hash. Do not rely only on the wallet’s “activity” screen or a missing token balance. Review these fields:
- Status: determine whether the transaction is successful, pending, or failed.
- From and to: compare the sending and destination addresses character by character with the addresses you recorded.
- Token transfer: verify the token contract, amount, and number of token movements.
- Network: make sure the transaction is on Polygon PoS, not another network with a similar-looking address.
A successful explorer transaction proves that the network processed the transfer; it does not prove that your wallet interface is displaying the asset or that an exchange has credited a deposit. Conversely, a missing balance by itself does not show that the transfer failed or that funds are lost.
Verify the current Polygon USDT0 contract
The official USDT0 Polygon page lists this contract for the Polygon token:

Compare the complete address, including capitalization and every character, with the contract in the explorer. Do not import a token merely because its symbol says “USDT” or “USDT0”; malicious tokens can copy a familiar symbol.
Polygon’s migration announcement says Polygon PoS USDT was upgraded to USDT0 while retaining the original contract address for user convenience. Therefore, a symbol change alone is not evidence that your funds disappeared. You should still verify the network and full contract address against current official documentation before adding or interacting with a token.

If the explorer shows success but your wallet balance is missing
This is usually a network-selection or token-display issue when the destination address is yours and the explorer shows the expected amount at that address.
Switch the wallet to Polygon
- Open the wallet network selector.
- Select Polygon PoS, not Ethereum or another chain.
- Reopen the asset view and allow the wallet to refresh.
Addresses can look identical across compatible networks, but a token held on Polygon will not appear in an Ethereum-only view.
Add the official token contract
If the wallet does not list USDT0 automatically, use its custom-token or import-token function and enter 0xc2132D05D31c914a87C6611C10748AEb04B58e8F while the wallet is set to Polygon. Confirm that the symbol and decimals are populated from the contract or official wallet flow; do not type an unverified contract supplied in a chat message.
The USDT0 Polygon transfer widget states that it supports MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Smart Wallet, and wallets connected through WalletConnect. Its guidance also recommends adding the official contract when a balance does not appear automatically. Use the widget only through the official page and verify the connected account before signing anything.
Check the receiving account
Make sure the wallet is showing the same receiving address that appears in the explorer. Hardware-wallet accounts, browser-extension accounts, and mobile-wallet accounts can each have several addresses. If the explorer shows the transfer at an address you do not control, importing the token into your current wallet will not recover it.

If you used a bridge or USDT0 cross-chain transfer
Bridge transfers have more than one transaction and can fail at different stages. Do not apply bridge-refund instructions to a simple, direct USDT0 send on Polygon. First identify which of these cases matches the explorer and bridge history.

These outcomes and refund locations come from Polygon Support’s bridge guidance, “What happens if my transaction fails?”. A destination-chain refund may require access to the relevant destination-chain wallet. If you cannot identify a bridge transaction or the bridge interface does not show an abort option, do not sign an unrelated transaction; contact Polygon Support with the hash and wallet details.
How to investigate a pending bridge transfer
- Open the bridge’s official transaction-history view, if available, and compare its status with the source- and destination-chain explorer records.
- Record every hash generated by the transfer, not just the initial approval or deposit hash.
- Confirm that the connected wallet is the same account that initiated the transfer.
- Check whether the destination chain is selected in the wallet before looking for a refund.
- If the bridge reports a stuck intent and presents an “abort” action, read the transaction details and verify the recipient before signing.
Do not assume a bridge delay is a loss, and do not assume a successful source transaction means the destination step completed.
If the transfer went to an exchange
Compare the explorer’s destination address with the deposit address supplied by the exchange. If they match, contact that exchange through its official website or in-app support channel. Include:
- Transaction hash
- Asset name (USDT0)
- Network (Polygon PoS)
- Amount
- Destination address
- Any exchange deposit memo, tag, or reference the exchange required
Polygon Support states that a transfer sent directly from a wallet to an exchange through Polygon cannot be reverted by Polygon; the exchange is the party that may be able to recover it. Its exchange-transfer guidance is at “I have transferred funds directly to an exchange from the Polygon”.

Recovery depends on the exchange’s custody systems, asset support, account status, and internal policy. The exchange may decline a recovery or charge a fee, and no general recovery timeframe or success rate is established. Do not send a second payment to “unlock” or “verify” the original deposit.
If the address belongs to another person
A confirmed blockchain transfer is normally irreversible from your wallet. Wallet software cannot recall a completed transaction or change its recipient.
Known recipient
Contact the recipient through a trusted channel you already use, provide the hash and amount, and ask whether they control the destination address and can return the funds. Do not pressure them to reveal private information. If they agree, verify the return address and network before they send anything.
Unknown or inaccessible address
If the destination is an address you do not recognize, belongs to a compromised account, or is controlled by someone who will not respond, the official guidance reviewed here provides no universal recovery method. Do not tell a recovery service your seed phrase, and do not pay a stranger who promises to reverse the transfer.
When the bridge or wallet interface shows an error
A failed interface does not always mean the on-chain transaction failed. Polygon Support lists an out-of-sync backend indexer, wallet incompatibility, and temporary RPC outages as possible causes of generic bridging errors. Its troubleshooting article is “Why am I getting this generic error while bridging?”.

- Refresh the page and reconnect the same wallet account.
- Check the transaction hash directly on the relevant explorer rather than repeatedly clicking “send.”
- Confirm that the wallet supports the connection method and that the correct network is selected.
- Wait for the interface to resynchronize before starting another transfer; duplicate submissions can create a second transaction.
- If funds remain stuck, contact Polygon Support through its official support site and provide the hashes, networks, addresses, amount, wallet type, and the exact error text.
Never install remote-control software or paste a private key into a support form. Legitimate support can investigate public transaction data without taking custody of your wallet.

Security rules while troubleshooting
- Reach USDT0, Polygon, your wallet, and an exchange through addresses you type or bookmark independently. Do not trust search-ad links or unsolicited direct messages.
- Share only public information: transaction hashes, public addresses, amount, network, and screenshots with secrets redacted.
- Never disclose a seed phrase, private key, wallet backup file, or one-time authentication code.
- Never send a “verification,” “tax,” “unlock,” or “recovery” payment to someone promising to retrieve the transfer.
- Check every recipient address on the final signing screen. Malware and clipboard-replacement attacks can substitute a different address.
- Keep the original hash and screenshots before closing a bridge session; they help support distinguish a display problem from an on-chain transfer.
What to include in a support request
A concise, complete report gets better technical triage than a message saying only “my USDT is missing.” Include the transaction hash or hashes, source and destination networks, sending and receiving addresses, token contract, amount, timestamp, wallet type, whether the destination is self-custody or custodial, and the exact explorer status. State whether this was a direct Polygon transfer or a bridge operation, and attach screenshots with seed phrases, private keys, and unrelated personal data hidden.
Keep separate tickets for the service that controls the relevant step: Polygon or the bridge for a bridge-flow failure, your wallet provider for a display or connection problem, and the exchange for an exchange deposit. Polygon cannot reverse a direct exchange transfer, and a wallet provider cannot reverse a confirmed transfer to somebody else.

There are three fundamentally different problems: the token is present but hidden in your wallet, a bridge has not completed or has entered a documented refund path, or a confirmed transfer reached an exchange or an unintended address. The explorer transaction, full contract address, and destination ownership determine which branch applies. Follow only the official flow for that branch, and treat any person promising guaranteed recovery as a security threat.
