If the Reunion quest will not start, first finish the story sequence that restores the Fallen Dragon’s heart by recovering Rovall’s Soul and Will. Then return to Eir at the Mordria Temple elevator, examine the carved lever in the round chamber, ride up, climb to the Summit Ritual Grounds, and step onto the summit platform. If the health bar empties but the battle does not end, wait for the pawn callout “The heart is exposed!”, drop to the ground, and run to the dragon’s chest.

The earlier Fallen Dragon encounter at Mountain Stronghold is a separate survival sequence in Rumbles in the North. It is not the decisive Reunion battle, so reaching that encounter does not mean the Reunion objective is ready to complete.

First, identify which part of Reunion is actually blocked

Most apparent softlocks in this quest are progression-state mix-ups: the heart-restoration sequence is incomplete, the player is at the wrong Fallen Dragon encounter, the elevator control has not been examined, or the player has reached the landing but not the summit trigger. Use the current objective and your location together rather than relying only on the quest name.

What you see What it usually means What to do
Reunion is not in the quest log The preceding story sequence has not restored the Fallen Dragon’s heart. Complete the quests that recover Rovall’s Soul and Will, then return to Eir at Mordria Temple.
Eir is present, but the elevator does nothing The carved control in the round chamber has not been examined, or you are not at the correct elevator. Find the lever housing beside the pillar and use Examine.
You rode the elevator and see a dark stone hall You are at the landing, not yet at the arena. Take the broad stair lined with statues and continue up the snowy steps.
You are at Mountain Stronghold You are in the earlier survival encounter from Rumbles in the North. Continue the main story; do not expect this encounter to complete Reunion.
The health display is empty, but the scene has not triggered The final completion event is waiting for the exposed-heart cue. When a pawn says “The heart is exposed!”, go to the dragon’s chest.

Complete the prerequisite that makes Reunion available

Restore the Fallen Dragon’s heart

Reunion is the decisive Fallen Dragon fight, not the first time the creature appears. The available walkthroughs place Reunion after the story restores the dragon’s heart. In the Norgan walkthrough, that means recovering Rovall’s Soul and reclaiming his Will. Another walkthrough refers to the recovered item as Rovall’s Soul Blade while describing the same progression. These are descriptions of the prerequisite sequence, not optional preparation.

Capcom Dragon's Dogma 2 Standard Anglais Playstation 5 [video game]
  • A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
  • Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.
  • Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.

If Reunion has not appeared, check the preceding objectives rather than travelling directly to the elevator and assuming the quest is broken. Finish the Soul-and-Will sequence, then return to the Mordria Temple elevator. Eir should be waiting by a doorway. Her warning that boarding commits you to the encounter is a useful sign that the decisive quest stage is active.

Do not use the wrong Fallen Dragon encounter as a progress test

The Mountain Stronghold scene in Rumbles in the North is described as a survival encounter that ends in a story scene. It is not the final Reunion fight. If your party is still at Mountain Stronghold, the correct action is to continue the main-quest progression that follows that sequence. The Reunion trigger is at Mordria Temple after the heart has been restored.

Start the decisive fight at the Mordria Temple elevator

Once the prerequisite is complete, follow this exact sequence. The labels below reflect the objective progression described in the Reunion walkthrough.

  1. Return to the Mordria Temple elevator. Look for Eir near the doorway. If Eir is not there, Reunion’s preceding story stage may not be complete.
  2. Enter the round elevator chamber. Do not stop at the doorway or wait for the platform to move automatically.
  3. Find the carved control housing. The documented start point is a carved mechanism with a metal lever beside a pillar.
  4. Use Examine on the lever control. This interaction starts the scene in which the chain-hung platform rises with Eir.
  5. Check the objective text. The first instruction is reported as “Ride the elevator and face the Fallen Dragon.” Subsequent objectives refer to riding up with Eir, travelling to the dragon’s location, and defeating the dragon to save Rovall.
  6. Stay with the sequence until the platform reaches the upper landing. The elevator ride itself is not the arena trigger; you still have to cross the landing and reach the summit.

If the elevator will not take you to the fight

Work through the checks below in order. They distinguish a missed interaction from a quest state that has not been reached.

  • Confirm that Reunion is active. If the quest is absent, return to the Soul-and-Will story sequence described above.
  • Confirm that you are at Mordria Temple. The decisive elevator is not the Mountain Stronghold location from the earlier encounter.
  • Look beside the pillar, not only at the platform. The walkthrough identifies a carved lever housing as the interaction point. The platform is not described as an automatic trigger.
  • Use Examine rather than simply walking onto the platform. The scene begins from the lever control.
  • Read the updated objective after the interaction. When the sequence has started, the objective changes to riding the elevator and facing the Fallen Dragon. If that text does not appear, the interaction did not register or the prerequisite state is not complete.
  • Account for Eir’s warning. Eir’s presence by the doorway and her warning about committing to the encounter are part of the documented start sequence. If neither is present, revisit the preceding story objectives instead of repeatedly activating the platform.

No official Capcom support article, patch note, or platform-specific softlock procedure was identified for this quest. Therefore, do not rely on invented button combinations or claims that a particular platform has a confirmed fix. The reliable, documented checks are the prerequisite, the correct location, the lever interaction, and the objective update.

Reach the arena after the elevator ride

Players often stop at the upper landing because the elevator ride feels like the destination. It is only the middle of the transition.

When the Fallen Dragon seems immortal or unbeatable

Why the earlier “undying” problem may be misleading

The Norgan walkthrough explains that restoring Rovall’s Soul and Will removes the condition that made the earlier dragon encounter undying. A long fight after that restoration does not by itself prove that the old immortality state is still active. First verify that you are in Reunion and that the heart-restoration sequence was completed.

Use the encounter’s openings instead of assuming one required target order

The Reunion guides agree that the dragon has vulnerable areas that are not scaled in the same way as ordinary targets, and that its attacks make cover important. They do not agree on a single mandatory weak-point order:

Dragons Dogma 2: Dark Arisen - Nintendo Switch 2
  • Relic Expedition Cycle – Throughout their journey in the kingdom of Norgan, the Arisen must unearth and appraise forgotten relics to unlock powerful new weapons and skills.
  • New Dungeon Challenges – The 12 freshly uncovered Lost Rites dungeons house trials designed by the Pathfinder to sharpen the Arisen’s skills and recover rare equipment once held by past Arisen that now lay dormant.
  • Deeper Character Customization – New tattoo and hair options have been added to the already robust character creation tool in Dragon’s Dogma 2 so Arisen and Pawns can have even deeper personalization.
  • Now on Nintendo Switch 2 – Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen brings the classic fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the Dark Arisen Expansion to the Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
  • Pre-order Bonuses – The Norgan Fashion Set - Northern Attire will be available as a pre-order bonus, which can be accessed via in-game storage at launch.
Walkthrough emphasis Suggested vulnerable areas Defensive advice
All Things How Reunion walkthrough Hind-leg flesh and the back between the wings Use the large rock for protection from the blue blast.
Sportskeeda Reunion walkthrough Head and arm weak spots Use rocks in the arena as cover from powerful attacks.

Because these target priorities differ, neither should be treated as a universal sequence that must be followed for the quest to advance. Attack the vulnerable area that is safely exposed in your own encounter, use terrain to break line of sight during the dragon’s strongest attacks, and watch for the pawn callouts that indicate a story transition.

Finish the fight when the health bar is empty

The final health segment is not completed by the display alone. The Reunion walkthrough reports that the battle can remain active after the health display empties because the ending event is tied to the exposed heart.

  1. Wait for a pawn to call “The heart is exposed!”
  2. Drop from the dragon rather than continuing to attack from its body.
  3. Run directly to the chest.
  4. Reach the heart to trigger the ending scene.
  5. After the scene and subsequent quest update, check the settlement quest log for “Completed: Reunion.”

If you keep attacking after the empty bar without responding to the cue, the fight may look frozen even though the required completion trigger is waiting at the chest.

Use the objective text to locate your exact blockage

The objective sequence is a practical diagnostic tool because each line corresponds to a different physical location:

Objective or cue Required location or action
“Ride the elevator and face the Fallen Dragon.” Examine the carved lever in the round chamber.
“You rode the elevator to face the battle with Eir.” Leave the elevator at the upper landing and proceed through the hall.
“Travel to the Fallen Dragon’s location.” Climb the statue-lined stair and snowy steps toward the Summit Ritual Grounds.
“Defeat the Fallen Dragon and save Rovall.” Fight at the summit and respond to the exposed-heart cue at the end.
“The heart is exposed!” Drop down and touch the dragon’s chest to trigger the scene.

If your screen shows an earlier line, perform that line’s action before treating the quest as stuck. If it shows a later line, returning to an earlier area is unlikely to solve the immediate problem; continue toward the summit or the chest as indicated.

What to do when the documented sequence still fails

There is no verified official softlock workaround, patch-specific fix, or platform-specific procedure for this quest in the available material. Avoid presenting a reload, mod, save edit, or controller sequence as a confirmed solution when it has not been established for Reunion.

Instead, record the state precisely before seeking further help: whether Rovall’s Soul and Will were recovered, whether Reunion is listed as active, whether Eir is present, whether the lever can be examined, the exact objective text, whether the Summit Ritual Grounds banner appeared, and whether the pawn said “The heart is exposed!”. Those details separate a missing prerequisite from a missed trigger and from a genuine progression failure.

The documented route is therefore: restore the heart, return to Eir, examine the elevator lever, ride up, climb to the Summit Ritual Grounds, enter the platform-triggered battle, and run to the exposed heart when the final cue appears. Each step has a distinct in-game signal, so use those signals to determine where progress stopped rather than treating every delay as the same bug.
