First determine whether the failure happens inside the equipment Soul Binding interface or while connecting to an Aion 2 server. Those are separate problems with different checks: a network fix will not repair an in-game Sync action, and changing Soul Binding materials will not resolve a disconnection.
If you are in the Soul Binding screen, note the exact button, item, material, selected property, displayed success chance and full error text before trying again. If you cannot connect or keep disconnecting, use the connection-support path and provide your country, the date the problem began and your internet-service provider.
Identify which failure you are seeing
“Soul Binding or Sync fails” can describe two unrelated situations. Identifying the screen prevents you from applying the wrong remedy.
An action is unavailable or fails in the Soul Binding window
This is the equipment case. You are selecting Bind, Sync or Reset/Rebind, choosing an item and material, and then receiving an in-game warning, a disabled button or a failed result. The available guides do not establish one universal error cause or a guaranteed repair for these messages, so the exact operation and eligibility details matter.

You cannot connect, or the game disconnects repeatedly
This is a server-access problem. It should be handled through Aion 2’s connection troubleshooting and support process, not by changing Soul Binding settings. The official support guidance asks for your current country, when the problem started and your ISP if its basic steps do not resolve the connection issue.
Know what each Soul Binding button does
Do not treat the three equipment operations as interchangeable. Their effects are different, and confirming the wrong one can consume resources or change more properties than intended.

Why Sync may be unavailable or rejected
Secondary guides describe Sync as requiring equipment of the required grade or a dedicated Sync material. They also report that material grade and item level can affect the success chance displayed for an attempt. The sources do not provide a complete, authoritative eligibility table for every region and patch, so the live item tooltip and Soul Binding window should be treated as the final authority.
Check the target item
- Make sure the equipment is a type that the current Soul Binding interface accepts.
- Confirm its grade and item level meet the requirement shown in the window.
- Verify that you selected the intended equipment slot rather than another item with a similar name.
Check the selected property
Sync changes one chosen property. If no property is selected, or if the property is not eligible for the current item, the action may remain unavailable. Review the highlighted line immediately before opening the confirmation dialog.
Check the material
- Use the same-grade equipment or the dedicated Sync material accepted by the current interface.
- Check the material’s grade and item level, because guides report that these values can change the displayed chance.
- Make sure the material is not locked, equipped, reserved for another action or otherwise rejected by the item-selection control.
Read the displayed chance
If the client shows a success percentage or other chance indicator, record it before confirming. A displayed chance is a property of that target, material and current game version; it should not be generalized to every item. Do not assume that a failed result proves the material was invalid, and do not infer a hidden universal rate from one attempt.

Step-by-step troubleshooting for an in-game Soul Binding failure
- Stop repeated attempts. Do not keep confirming an action while you are unsure whether it is Sync or Reset/Rebind. A broad reroll can affect every property, and a consumed material may not be recoverable.
- Record the complete context. Write down the exact screen, button name, equipment slot, item name, item grade, item level, selected property, material name and material grade. Capture the full error text exactly as displayed. A screenshot that includes the warning and item details is useful.
- Reopen the target in the current interface. Exit and enter the Soul Binding window again, then confirm that the target and selected property are still the ones you intended. This step verifies the visible state; it is not a documented cure for an operation bug.
- Compare the requirements shown in the client. Check the target grade, item level, accepted material type and any displayed chance. If the interface rejects the material, select one that it explicitly accepts rather than relying on a guide’s general description.
- Confirm the operation’s scope. If you intend to replace one line, the action must be Sync. If the dialog says Reset or Rebind and describes changing all properties, cancel unless that broad change is intentional.
- Check for a patch-related change. Aion 2’s systems have changed across updates, including expanded Soul Binding options and additional Sync slots. Compare the labels and requirements in your client with current official notices for your region and version.
- Escalate when visible requirements are satisfied. If the target, property and material are accepted but the operation remains disabled or fails, send the recorded details and screenshots to official support. The reviewed sources do not document a reliable operation-specific fix such as relogging, deleting files or changing a setting, so those actions should not be presented as guaranteed remedies.
What is and is not established about a failed Sync message
There is no documented universal cause for every Bind or Sync failure message in the available material. A disabled action can reflect an eligibility rule, while an accepted action that returns an error may indicate a client or service problem; the message and item context are needed to distinguish them.
One NC/PURPLE Lounge Soul Binding post marked “Written as of: 2026.10.05” is explicitly identified as AI-generated and warns that its content may differ from the game. It can help explain terminology, but it should not override the requirements shown in your live client or an official notice. A Wiki guide and a Corpus guide (dated October 4, 2026) are secondary references; Corpus discusses material grade, item level and displayed chance but is not official support.
When the real problem is connection or disconnection
Use this path only when the symptom is inability to reach a server, being returned to the login screen or repeated disconnects. It does not diagnose a failed equipment action.

- Describe the symptom precisely. Distinguish “cannot connect at all” from “connects, then disconnects” and note whether it affects one character or every login attempt.
- Note when it began. Record the date and approximate time, including whether the problem started after an update, maintenance period or change in your local network.
- Complete the basic checks on the official Aion 2 support page. Follow the page’s current connection troubleshooting rather than applying equipment instructions to a network symptom.
- Submit the requested account and network context if the checks fail. The support result specifically asks for your current country, when the issue started and your ISP. Include the exact error text and any relevant client version shown by the launcher.
A connection problem can prevent a Soul Binding request from completing, but that does not establish that the equipment rules or material were wrong. Keep the network report and the equipment-action report separate so support can route each issue correctly.

Season 2 introduced an equipment Transfer system alongside expanded Soul Binding options and additional Sync slots. NCSOFT’s January 21, 2026 announcement describes the additions this way: “These include expanded Soul Binding options, additional Sync slots, and the new Transfer system.” Transfer is a progression-migration feature, not another name for Sync.

Transfer can move certain equipment progression effects, including Soul Binding effects, to new gear. A third-party-hosted update-note page describes an inheritance failure in which the target remains unchanged while materials are consumed. That rule belongs to inheritance or transfer; it must not be reported as the result of a failed Sync attempt. If your screen mentions Transfer, inheritance or a source and target item, capture those terms and follow that system’s confirmation text instead of the Sync checklist.

Use a support report that can be acted on
Support can investigate an exact operation more effectively than a report that only says “Sync failed.” Include the following in one message:
- Region and current country.
- Date and time of the attempt, with your time zone.
- Character and account identifiers requested by the support form.
- Exact operation label: Bind, Sync, Reset or Rebind, or Transfer.
- Equipment name, slot, grade and item level.
- Selected property, if the action was Sync.
- Material name, grade and item level.
- Displayed chance and the full error message.
- A screenshot of the Soul Binding window and confirmation dialog, with sensitive account information obscured where appropriate.
- Whether the problem is repeatable and whether another eligible item produces the same message.
For a server-access ticket, add the country, ISP and start date requested by the official support guidance, plus the connection error and whether other characters or accounts are affected.

Bottom line
Verify the exact operation first. For Sync, let the current client determine eligible targets and materials, check the selected property and displayed chance, and do not substitute Reset/Rebind. If all visible requirements are met and the action still fails, preserve the error details for support rather than assuming a relog or file change will fix it. Handle connection failures through the separate support path, and keep Transfer or inheritance rules separate from Sync.
