Take the Galaxy Buds out and do not force them back in. Samsung says to stop using the earbuds and consult a doctor if you experience ear pain or skin irritation. If the buds or their case feel unusually hot while charging, disconnect the charger and let them cool.
What to do first if your ears hurt or feel irritated
Remove the earbuds as soon as you notice pain or skin irritation. Do not keep wearing them to see whether the problem gets worse, and do not treat persistent symptoms as a fit issue that a different tip will necessarily solve. Samsung’s US support guidance for several Galaxy Buds generations says: “Should you experience any ear pain or skin irritation while using the earbuds, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor.” Samsung’s wear guidance covers Buds2 and Buds2 Pro, Buds Live, Buds Pro, and Buds and Buds+.
Seek medical advice for persistent pain, irritation, or swelling. Samsung Australia also notes that nickel in stainless steel and acrylate in the earbud body may cause reactions in some sensitive users. That information describes possible material sensitivity; it does not diagnose the cause of your symptoms or establish that warmth is an allergic reaction. Samsung Australia’s material information advises consulting a healthcare professional when irritation or discomfort occurs.
If the Galaxy Buds feel hot while charging
A warm earbud or charger during charging can occur. Samsung’s UK guidance says that if the battery gets hotter than usual, charging may stop; disconnect the charger and wait for the device to cool. The guidance is for Buds3 and Buds3 Pro, so do not assume its exact wording applies identically to every Galaxy Buds generation. Samsung UK’s charging guidance gives no universal temperature threshold.

If unusual device heat persists, stop charging and contact Samsung support or an authorized service provider. A sensation of warmth while wearing the buds is a different situation from a device becoming unusually hot during charging; the cited guidance does not establish that every warmth sensation during wear is normal.
Check fit only after symptoms have settled
Poor positioning can make earbuds uncomfortable. When you are symptom-free and ready to try wearing them again, fit them gently without excessive force, and use guidance for your exact model. Stop if pain or irritation returns.

Galaxy Buds2 and Buds2 Pro
Use the Earbud fit test in the Galaxy Wearable app to check whether the fit is good or poor. Adjust the earbuds gently and repeat the test as needed. Samsung’s wear instructions describe the fit test for these models.
Buds Pro and older models
Samsung’s instructions for Buds Pro and older Buds models recommend rotating the earbuds and trying another ear tip size. Buds Live and Buds and Buds+ guidance discusses changing wingtips. The hardware differs by generation: not every Galaxy Buds model has removable tips or wingtips, so follow the directions for your exact model rather than forcing an accessory onto it. If a removable tip is missing, worn, or the wrong size, check model compatibility before buying a replacement; a new tip is not a treatment for ongoing pain or skin irritation.

Keep the earbuds and ears clean and dry
Samsung recommends keeping the earbuds clean and dry, and periodically removing them so your ears can dry and moisture does not build up. Follow the cleaning instructions for your precise model. Samsung’s US cleaning guidance for the models it covers describes using dry cotton swabs, a dry brush, and a soft, dry cloth. It warns against using liquids such as alcohol or soapy water, metal or wire brushes, and holding the earbuds upright while cleaning. Do not use external heat to dry or clean the earbuds. Samsung’s cleaning instructions explain the model-specific precautions.

When to stop troubleshooting
- Stop wearing the earbuds and consult a doctor for ear pain or skin irritation, as Samsung directs.
- Stop charging and let the device cool if its battery becomes hotter than usual.
- Contact Samsung support or authorized service if abnormal device heat continues.
- Do not use a fit adjustment, cleaning method, or replacement tip to push through persistent symptoms.
