If Counter-Strike 2 removes you for input automation, first identify the exact notice, then disable every keyboard or device feature that can generate or prioritize multiple actions, remove multi-action binds, restart the game, and retest with ordinary manual input. Valve documents this event as a match kick on Valve official servers—not automatically as a VAC ban. The correct reporting route depends on whether the notice says kick, match cancellation, VAC ban, or game ban.
Start with the exact enforcement message
“Falsely flagged” describes your experience; it does not establish that Valve’s detection made an error. The wording and consequence on screen determine which instructions apply. Save a screenshot, the match identifier, the server type, and the date before changing settings.
| Notice or outcome | What it means in the documented policy | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Kick for input automation | Valve says certain movement or shooting automation can result in removal from a match on Valve official servers. | Disable device automation, remove multi-action binds, restart, and retest manually. |
| Match cancellation during initial VacNet 3.0 testing | Valve published a feedback route for players who believe this specific cancellation was incorrect. | Keep the match details and use the documented email route described below. |
| VAC ban | A separate anti-cheat enforcement outcome that blocks secure-server access for the affected game. | Do not treat the input-automation troubleshooting steps as a VAC-ban appeal. |
| Game ban or another server action | The notice may come from a different enforcement system or a community server. | Follow the instructions attached to that specific notice and check the server’s rules. |
A kick is disruptive, but it is not the same status as a VAC or game ban. Steamworks documentation describes a VAC or game ban as preventing access to secure servers for the affected AppID. Valve’s input-automation announcement, by contrast, describes a kick from the current match.

Valve’s 19 August 2024 Counter-Strike 2 release notes say that “certain types of movement/shooting input automation such as hardware-assisted counter strafing will now be detected on Valve official servers, resulting in a kick from the match.” The accompanying “Side-stepping Skill” explanation says players suspected of automating multiple player actions from a single game input may be kicked.

That policy covers more than a conventional cheat program. A keyboard profile or firmware feature can alter how one physical press becomes game input. Valve specifically gives Snap Tap Mode as an example of a keyboard input-automation feature and tells players to disable such a feature before joining a match. Hardware-assisted counter-strafing is another named example.
The same release notes state that binds containing more than one movement or attack action are ignored by default. A custom bind that combines actions can therefore behave differently from a simple one-key, one-action bind. During troubleshooting, avoid turning the related protected option back on merely to test whether the old behavior returns.
The documented change is framed around Valve official servers. Valve also describes a separate option to enable counter-strafe input-automation detection for non-Valve servers. A community server can therefore have different rules or enforcement settings; a kick there should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that the official-server policy was applied identically.
Step-by-step: remove the likely automation sources
1. Record the event before changing anything
Write down the exact words of the notice, whether the match ended in a kick or cancellation, the match identifier, and whether you were on a Valve official or community server. Capture your keyboard and mouse profile names and any active macros or rapid-trigger-style modes. This record lets you distinguish a settings problem from a different enforcement event and preserves the details needed for the limited feedback route Valve published.

2. Turn off automation in the keyboard profile
Open the configuration application or onboard profile manager for the keyboard you used. Select the profile active while Counter-Strike 2 was running and disable features that produce, prioritize, or sequence multiple directional inputs from one action. If the keyboard offers Snap Tap Mode, switch it off. Also disable any hardware-assisted counter-strafing or equivalent movement-automation setting.
Save the profile to the keyboard’s memory or to the software profile, depending on how that device works. Check for a second profile that could load automatically when the game starts. If the keyboard has a hardware toggle, indicator, or per-profile setting, verify that the automation mode is actually off rather than only hidden in the desktop application.
3. Remove multi-action movement and attack binds
In Counter-Strike 2, review your keyboard and mouse assignments under the game’s keyboard and mouse settings. Each troubleshooting key should perform one ordinary movement or attack action. Remove custom assignments that combine two or more movement actions or combine movement with an attack action.
If you maintain a custom configuration file, inspect the bindings you added manually and remove multi-command entries while diagnosing the kick. Keep a copy of the original file outside the active configuration location so you can restore unrelated preferences later. Valve says these multi-action binds are ignored by default; preserving them while repeatedly joining matches makes it harder to tell which input path is being evaluated.

4. Close software that can rewrite the profile
Quit the keyboard or mouse configuration utility after saving the plain profile, then reopen it only to confirm the setting remains disabled. If the device supports profiles that change when an application launches, remove the game-specific override temporarily. The goal is a stable, ordinary input path—not a new automation profile with a different name.
5. Restart before retesting
Exit Counter-Strike 2 completely after saving the device settings, then start it again. This restart is conservative troubleshooting based on Valve’s stated rule, not a Valve-published diagnostic protocol. Play with ordinary manual presses: tap the movement keys yourself, release them yourself, and use single-action attack inputs. Do not re-enable the protected option during this test.
If the next match completes normally, keep the automation features disabled on Valve official servers. You can reintroduce settings one at a time only if you understand that doing so may again produce the same enforcement response.

How to interpret a second kick
The kick disappears after cleanup
A normal match after the profile and bind changes is consistent with the device or configuration having supplied the kind of automated input Valve describes. It does not prove that the earlier event was a false positive, and it does not establish a general safety guarantee for every keyboard mode. Leave automation disabled for official-server play.

The kick continues with manual input
Recheck every active keyboard profile, onboard-memory slot, and game-launch profile. Confirm that no multi-action bind was restored by a synchronization tool or configuration file. Test with a plain profile containing only standard movement and attack assignments. Keep the notice and match identifier for your records.
There is no published Valve statistic establishing how often ordinary manual input is incorrectly flagged, no official list of all manual inputs that can trigger an error, and no documented universal appeal process for every input-automation kick. Do not treat forum reports or a device defect theory as a verified Valve finding.
The event happens only on a community server
Ask the server operator which detection setting is enabled and what conduct its rules cover. Valve’s release notes distinguish official-server detection from an option that can be enabled for non-Valve servers. A community administrator may therefore apply a separate rule, threshold, or message.

Stop treating the event as a routine match kick. A VAC or game ban is a different enforcement outcome. Steamworks documentation says that such a ban blocks secure-server access for the affected AppID. Device-profile cleanup may prevent future automation kicks, but it is not a substitute for following the process attached to a ban notice.

Input-automation kicks are not the same as Trusted Mode or VAC
Trusted Mode addresses interaction between third-party software and the game process. Valve describes it as blocking third-party files from interacting with Counter-Strike 2 and rejecting software that would normally inject into the process. Valve’s warning about targeted process tampering and possible VAC bans concerns process injection, not the ordinary input-automation kick described in the 19 August 2024 release notes.
VAC is an automated system designed to detect cheats installed on a player’s computer. A VAC ban prevents secure-server access for the affected game. The available Valve documentation does not say that every input-automation kick becomes a VAC ban, so do not use the terms interchangeably when asking for help or reporting an event.
When and how to contact Valve
For an incorrectly cancelled match during the named testing period
Valve’s release announcement provides a specific route for players who believe a match was incorrectly cancelled during initial VacNet 3.0 testing: email the match details to csgoteamfeedback@valvesoftware.com. Include the match identifier, the exact notice, the server type, the date and time, and a concise description of the input setup. Preserve the original screenshot and configuration notes in case the details are requested.
For an ordinary input-automation kick
The announcement does not identify that email address as a universal appeal route for every input-automation kick or ban. Use it only when your event matches the cancellation scenario Valve described. For any other notice, follow the support or appeal instructions shown with that enforcement outcome rather than presenting a routine kick as a VAC-ban case.
A practical decision checklist
- Notice: Is it a match kick, a match cancellation, a VAC ban, a game ban, or a community-server action?
- Server: Did it occur on a Valve official server or a non-Valve server with its own settings?
- Device: Was Snap Tap Mode, hardware-assisted counter-strafing, or another multi-input feature enabled?
- Binds: Does any key produce more than one movement or attack action?
- Retest: After disabling those features and restarting, did a manual-input match complete?
- Evidence: Did you save the match identifier and notice before contacting anyone?
Answering those questions keeps the response proportional: clean up the input path for a documented kick, use the named feedback address only for the matching VacNet 3.0 cancellation case, and handle a VAC or game ban as a separate enforcement matter.
What the published evidence does—and does not—establish
Valve’s 19 August 2024 release notes establish the official-server rule, the examples of hardware-assisted counter-strafing and multi-action input, and the default treatment of binds that combine movement or attack actions. Valve’s documentation also identifies Snap Tap Mode as a feature to disable before joining a match.
The available sources do not establish whether Valve changed this behavior after that release, how many players are kicked, how often a kick is reversed, or which ordinary manual inputs might be misclassified. Treat the date as the policy reference for the documented behavior, and check the wording of any newer in-game notice before assuming the rule is unchanged.
