Beorcan’s Twinned Key door needs two separate keys found in underground chests near the door. The most reliable landmarks reported by walkthroughs are frozen Beorcans, ice-covered hatches and ladders below nearby ruins. If one key seems to be missing, return to both underground entrances and inspect their chests before assuming the item or door is permanently broken.
What the Beorcan Twinned Key lock requires
The lock is described as a two-key mechanism: one key is in an underground chest reached through ruins on one side of the area, and the other is in a separate underground room reached through a nearby ruin. Picking up only one does not satisfy the door. Both items must be in your inventory before the lock can be expected to respond.
The directions below follow the route published by VGC. They are guide-reported directions, not independently verified game testing. A second walkthrough gives different surface landmarks, so use the frozen markers, hatches, ladders and chests as your practical navigation cues rather than treating every turn as an exact map coordinate.
How to find the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key
Start from the locked door and use the route that leads away from it. This is the first-key route described by VGC.

- Leave the door and follow the departing path. Keep moving until the path bends to the right.
- Check the ruins on the left. The structures are described as looking like a small church or chapel. Do not continue past them without examining the area.
- Look for an ice-covered hatch. A frozen Beorcan is reported to gesture toward the hatch, and the top of a ladder can be visible through the ice. The frozen character is the most useful confirmation that you are at the correct entrance.
- Break the ice and climb down. Enter the opening and descend the ladder into the small underground room.
- Open the chest. The first key should be in the chest in that room according to the walkthrough. Check your inventory immediately after taking it so you know which half of the pair you have collected.
If you reach a ruin but cannot see the hatch, search around the structure rather than only along the road. The entrance is described as being frozen over, so it can blend into the surrounding ice until you are close enough to notice the ladder beneath it.
How to find the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key
The second key uses another underground entrance close to the locked door. VGC’s route begins at a small ruin whose door is locked from the opposite side.
- Find the small ruin near the door. Its visible door cannot be opened from your approach, which is an important clue that you need to reach the building from below or behind.
- Walk behind the ruin. Search beside the short wall at the rear for a hatch. A second frozen Beorcan is reported to point toward this opening.
- Break the ice and descend. Follow the underground hallway after climbing down.
- Prepare for an enemy. The route description reports an enemy in this passage. Deal with it before continuing so it cannot interrupt your search around the ladder and chest.
- Climb the mushroom-covered ladder. The ladder leads into the room on the other side of the ruin’s locked door.
- Search the chest in that room. The second key is reported to be inside. Collect it and verify that both keys now appear in your inventory.
The mushroom growth on the ladder is a useful visual cue. If you have entered the hallway but do not see the ladder, check side passages and the end of the route instead of returning immediately to the surface.

Why different guides show different routes
The available walkthroughs do not describe the surface approach in the same way. VGC places the first key on the path away from the door, in ruins containing an ice-covered hatch, and places the second behind a nearby ruin with a hallway and ladder. The Big Lead instead describes the first key in a house reached from a ruined house to the east and the second through the easternmost ice-covered hole.
That disagreement means you should not splice the two guides together as if they were one confirmed route. Use the comparison below to understand which account you are following, then rely on the physical signs in the area to identify the entrances.

Because neither account is independently confirmed here, the landmarks are more dependable than a precise instruction such as “take the third turn” or a claim that one guide’s compass direction must work in every layout.

If one key appears to be missing
There is no reported evidence in these guides that either chest or key becomes permanently unavailable. Before treating the problem as a bug, work through both entrances again and verify each chest directly.

- Confirm which key you already collected. The door requires two keys, so one item in your inventory is not enough.
- Return to the first frozen hatch. Revisit the church- or chapel-like ruins on the path away from the door, break the ice if necessary, descend and inspect the chest in the small room.
- Return to the second hatch. Go behind the ruin with the door locked from the other side, locate the hatch beside the wall, descend through the hallway and check the chest beyond the mushroom-covered ladder.
- Check the chest rather than only the floor. Both directions describe the keys as chest pickups. A chest that has not been opened is a more likely explanation than a key disappearing after collection.
- Verify your inventory after each pickup. Look for both key entries before returning to the door; this separates a navigation problem from an interaction problem.
If the landmarks do not match what you see, switch to the other guide’s description rather than assuming that a different house or ice hole is a third location. The route disagreement is documented, while a third, permanently lost-key location is not.
Can the Forger make a replacement?
One Reddit player reports that the in-game Forger can copy the second key and that the process took two in-game days. This is an anecdotal player report, not an official instruction. The available accounts do not establish the required materials, price, quest state, region, or whether the option is available to every character. Treat duplication as a possible fallback to investigate in your own save, not as a guaranteed fix.

What to do when both keys are held but the door still does not open
The published directions do not provide a verified troubleshooting sequence for an unresponsive door after both keys are in the inventory. You can still perform checks that do not assume an undocumented platform-specific fix:
- Reopen the inventory. Confirm that both separate key items are present, not merely one key with a quantity of two.
- Return to the door from the front. Approach the lock normally and use the game’s interaction prompt rather than trying to enter through an adjacent wall or the ruin’s rear entrance.
- Leave and come back after checking both chests. This rules out a missed pickup and ensures the second chest interaction completed.
- Record the exact state if it remains closed. Note the platform, the key names shown in the inventory, whether an interaction prompt appears, and whether the door gives any message. Those details are more useful for support or a community bug report than a general statement that the door is broken.
A platform-specific reload, quest reset or save-editing remedy is not established by the available sources, so none should be presented as a confirmed solution. Avoid discarding a key or altering a save while the cause is uncertain.

VGC describes the two-key door as an optional challenge for players concentrating only on the main story and mentions valuable rewards without identifying them. The Big Lead describes the door as an entrance into the stronghold. Because those descriptions do not fully settle the progression requirements, the safest conclusion is that VGC attributes optionality to the door, while the stronghold description comes from a separate guide. Do not assume that the door is mandatory—or that it can be ignored in every quest state—without checking the objective currently shown in your game.

The rewards behind the door have not been identified in the referenced walkthrough, so a list of specific items would be speculation.
Where this encounter fits in the game
Beorcan’s Twinned Keys are in-game items associated with Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Capcom’s official store describes that release as an expansion adding the Norgan region and states that it requires Dragon’s Dogma 2. Capcom’s announcement gives October 9, 2026 as the expansion’s launch date. Those product details explain the setting for the encounter; they do not provide the key locations or a physical-product remedy for a locked door.
