If AT&T promised or identified an outage credit and it is missing, first determine which service and account type you have. AT&T uses different rules for consumer postpaid wireless, prepaid wireless, home internet, landline, TV and business services; a credit is not automatic or universally available.
Check the bill and the expected processing window, save outage and support records, then contact the correct AT&T Customer Care team with a specific credit calculation. If ordinary support does not resolve the issue, use AT&T’s Notice of Dispute process and keep paying undisputed charges while the billing issue is reviewed.
Identify the AT&T service before asking for a credit
The correct remedy depends on the service, account type, outage cause and duration. Do not apply a business service-level agreement to a consumer account, or assume that a wireless network-outage program governs home internet.

Consumer postpaid wireless
AT&T’s consumer wireless network-outage guarantee is a proactive program for eligible postpaid lines. AT&T says a qualifying event generally involves at least eight towers out for 60 or more minutes from one incident. The line must have been connected to an affected tower and must lose service for at least 60 consecutive minutes. The account must be an eligible consumer postpaid wireless account in good standing.

AT&T excludes AT&T Prepaid, FirstNet, AT&T OneConnect and AT&T Build-A-Plan from this program. The published program applies in the United States, excluding territories, and excludes certain events outside AT&T’s control. AT&T says it will identify qualifying lines and notify the account holder by SMS or email.
Prepaid wireless
Prepaid service is excluded from the consumer postpaid network-outage guarantee. You can still ask Customer Care to review a billing error or another remedy under the terms governing your prepaid account, but do not expect the postpaid program’s automatic identification or timing to apply.
Home internet, TV and landline
AT&T’s internet terms address billing-error notices rather than establishing one universal residential outage-credit formula. If you believe a bill is wrong, the terms say to notify Customer Service within 60 days of the billing date. AT&T says credits or refunds generally will not be issued after that period except where required by law or regulation. Check the service-specific terms and account documents that govern your product.

Business agreements can contain separate service-level agreements. One AT&T business high-speed internet guide requires a verifiable trouble ticket for specified service credits and says a request must be made within 30 days of the event. That is service-specific and should not be presented as a rule for consumer accounts or every business plan.

These rules are not interchangeable. The postpaid wireless program’s 60-minute threshold is different from the separate wireless-term provision’s 24-hour threshold, and neither automatically controls an internet or business claim.
Check whether the credit is simply still pending
For an eligible proactive consumer wireless outage credit, AT&T says the adjustment can appear within one to two billing cycles. Review the affected line, the account’s next statements and any AT&T SMS or email. A credit may be listed as an adjustment rather than described as an “outage credit,” so compare the statement’s service-charge lines with the prior bill.
Do not use the one-to-two-cycle estimate for internet, prepaid, landline, TV or business claims unless AT&T gives you that timing. Those services follow their own agreements and support workflows.
Build a record before contacting AT&T
A precise record makes it easier for a representative or dispute reviewer to verify the event and calculate the amount. Keep copies rather than relying on memory.

- The service and account type, including the affected wireless line or internet account.
- The account number and, for wireless, the affected telephone number.
- The outage date, approximate start and end times, and your time zone.
- What stopped working: cellular voice, text, data, internet access, TV or landline service.
- Any AT&T outage notification, SMS, email or public status message.
- The bill showing the charge, the bill date and the disputed amount.
- Support ticket or case numbers, contact dates, representative names and what each person promised.
- Screenshots, modem or device error records, and proof that service was restored.
AT&T specifically advises customers preparing an unresolved issue to gather outage dates, account information, employee names, disputed amounts and bill copies.
Ask for the missing credit through the right channel
- State the service and rule you believe applies. For example, identify an eligible postpaid wireless outage and ask whether the line was included in the network-outage guarantee, or cite the wireless-term provision for an interruption of 24 or more continuous hours caused by something within AT&T’s control.
- Give the dates and affected line or account. Include the outage duration and the bill date so the representative can match the event to network or billing records.
- Request a specific adjustment. Ask for the amount, the billing cycle in which it will appear and confirmation of any case number. For the wireless guarantee, remember that the calculation uses the daily wireless service rate and excludes taxes, fees, device payments and add-ons.
- Ask why the claim is excluded if it is denied. Request the exact eligibility reason, such as account type, event cause, duration, territory or an excluded service.
- Save the response. Record the representative’s name, date, promised action and deadline. Retain emails and case confirmations.

- From an AT&T phone: dial 611
For a qualifying wireless guarantee credit that did not arrive proactively, AT&T says to call or visit an AT&T store. Use the channel for the service on the disputed bill rather than a different department that cannot access the relevant account records.

- Open the account’s bill and payment history.
- Select the relevant account.
- Choose “Report a payment issue.”
- Select the issue that best matches the missing credit or incorrect charge.
- Enter the outage, bill and contact details, and attach available documentation.
- Submit the report and save the confirmation or ticket number.
- Open My Tickets to check status and respond to any request for more information.
AT&T’s support article says an online payment-issue response can take up to five business days. It also says, “To prevent service disruption, keep paying your bill while we look into your concern.” Pay undisputed charges and avoid withholding the entire bill unless AT&T or your agreement expressly tells you otherwise.

The line or plan is not eligible
A postpaid wireless guarantee credit can be denied when the line is prepaid, FirstNet, OneConnect or Build-A-Plan, when the account is not in good standing, or when the event occurred outside the program’s geographic scope.
The outage did not meet the program’s measurements
The proactive wireless program requires the tower, incident and duration conditions described by AT&T. A short interruption, a problem limited to one device, or an event that did not affect the required network footprint may not qualify. Keep separate the 60-minute network-program test and the 24-hour wireless-term test.

AT&T’s published wireless guarantee excludes certain causes outside its control. Ask the representative to identify the applicable exclusion instead of accepting a vague denial.

The request was late
For consumer internet billing errors, the stated notice period is 60 days from the bill date. A specified business HSI SLA may require a request within 30 days of the event. Missing those windows can limit the remedy, subject to the agreement and applicable law.
The adjustment is smaller than expected
Wireless guarantee credits do not include taxes, fees, device payments or add-ons and cannot exceed the monthly wireless service rate. The separate wireless-term adjustment is also capped at the monthly Service fee. Compare the disputed amount with the charge categories covered by the applicable rule.
Escalate after Customer Care
If Customer Care does not correct the account or explain a denial, AT&T’s support process offers a Notice of Dispute. Submit a concise chronology and attach the records you gathered. Include:

- Your name, service, account and affected line.
- The outage dates, times, duration and cause as you understand it.
- The bill date, disputed charge and the credit amount requested.
- The calculation showing how you reached that amount.
- Every prior contact, case number, employee name and promised action.
- Copies of bills, outage notices, tickets and written responses.
Describe the outcome you want, such as a specified service-fee adjustment and a corrected statement. Keep proof of delivery and continue monitoring the account.
What happens after a Notice of Dispute
AT&T says that if the dispute is not settled within 60 days, an individual small-claims case or arbitration may be available. The current agreement, the service involved and your jurisdiction determine whether those options apply and what procedures, limits or filing requirements govern them. Read the agreement attached to your account before starting a legal process; do not treat the 60-day period as a guarantee that a claim will be approved.
A concise script for your call or written request
“My [service and account type] lost service from approximately [start] to [end] on [date]. The affected account or line is [identifier]. The bill dated [date] includes [charge]. I am requesting a review under [the applicable AT&T wireless outage program, wireless service terms, internet billing terms or business SLA]. Please confirm whether the event and account qualify, the credit amount, when it will post, and my case number. If you deny it, please state the specific eligibility reason and the applicable term.”
