The fix depends on what is actually waiting. A normal wallet transaction can often be sped up or replaced while it is still pending. A validator exit follows Ethereum’s protocol queue and cannot be accelerated with a gas bump. A pooled-staking withdrawal follows the provider’s process. Identify the case before taking action.
Check the transaction status and network first. Never attempt to cancel a transaction that is already confirmed, and never give a seed phrase or private key to anyone promising to recover it.
First identify which kind of “staking transaction” is delayed
People use “staking transaction” for several different operations. The same pending label does not mean the same thing, and the remedies are not interchangeable.

If a normal wallet transaction is pending
1. Confirm the network and transaction status
Open the transaction details in your wallet and copy its transaction hash. Use an explorer that supports the network you selected, then search the hash. Check whether the explorer says pending, confirmed, failed, dropped or not found. A wallet can retain an old “pending” display after the network has already included or dropped the transaction, so the explorer result is an important second check.
Do not paste a seed phrase, private key or wallet backup into an explorer, support form or chat. A transaction hash and public address are the only information normally needed to inspect status.
2. Make sure it is not already confirmed
Once a transaction is confirmed, the pending-transaction cancellation procedure no longer applies. MetaMask’s instructions state that confirmed transactions cannot be reversed: How to speed up or cancel a pending transaction. This includes a transfer sent to the wrong address. A later replacement transaction cannot pull those funds back.

3. Consider why it is waiting
Ethereum.org explains that an execution-layer transaction can get stuck when its gas-fee bid is below what the network currently requires. Wallets commonly divide the fee into a base fee and a priority fee; the priority portion is the bid that encourages a block builder or validator to include the transaction. Network conditions change, so an old screenshot or fee number is not a reliable setting for a new replacement.

A pending transaction also occupies its sender account’s nonce. Later transactions from that same account may wait behind it until the earlier nonce is included, replaced or dropped. This is why randomly sending more transactions can make the wallet appear to have several problems at once.
4. Restart or refresh the wallet display
MetaMask recommends restarting the wallet as an initial troubleshooting step. Close and reopen the wallet, reconnect to the correct network, and check the hash again. This refreshes local state; it does not force miners, validators or block builders to include a transaction. If the explorer still reports pending, continue with the wallet’s current speed-up or replacement controls.
Speeding up a pending transaction
Use this option when you still want the original action to happen and the wallet offers a speed-up control. The wallet resubmits the transaction with the same nonce and a higher fee, so the replacement is competing for inclusion rather than creating a second independent action.
- Open the pending transaction. In the wallet’s activity or transaction list, select the item marked pending.
- Choose “Speed up” or the equivalent current label. Interfaces differ by wallet and version; use the control shown in your installed wallet rather than an old tutorial screenshot.
- Review the new fee and nonce. Confirm that the recipient, value, contract call and network are unchanged. A higher fee is an additional cost if the replacement is mined.
- Submit the replacement. Approve it in the wallet and wait for the explorer to show one transaction with that nonce confirmed.
Ethereum.org describes speed-up as resubmitting with a higher gas fee, while MetaMask explains the priority-fee bidding mechanism in its support instructions. Neither source gives a universal completion time, because the result depends on live network conditions and the fee you choose.
If the speed-up fails, do not immediately click the control repeatedly. Wait for the wallet and explorer to settle, then inspect whether a replacement hash was created. Multiple replacements with the same nonce can compete with one another, and an unsuitable fee can leave the account with more pending entries.

Attempting a cancellation or same-nonce replacement
Wallet cancellation
Choose cancellation only when you no longer want the original transaction to execute and the wallet still shows it as pending. A wallet may create a replacement transaction that sends zero value back to your own address, using the original transaction’s nonce and a fee high enough to be considered first. If that replacement is confirmed, the original action is normally prevented because a nonce can be used only once.

- Open the still-pending transaction and select “Cancel,” “Speed up and cancel,” or the wallet’s equivalent.
- Verify the destination shown by the wallet. A cancellation should return to your own address; do not approve an unfamiliar recipient or contract call.
- Check that the replacement uses the original nonce. The wallet should identify that it is replacing the pending transaction.
- Set or accept the current fee suggested by the wallet. A cancellation that bids less than the original may remain pending while the original is mined first.
- Submit once and monitor both hashes. The original is not canceled merely because you pressed a button; the replacement must be included first.
MetaMask describes cancellation as available only while the transaction remains pending. The process is an attempt, not a guarantee. If the original has already been confirmed, this option cannot undo it.
Manual replacement for experienced users
Some wallets expose nonce and fee fields, and some users construct a replacement manually. Ethereum.org and Etherscan explain that the replacement must use the same nonce. Etherscan’s instructions are at How to replace a Pending/Dropped transaction.
MyEtherWallet characterizes manual replacement as an expert technique and warns that replacement is not guaranteed: Canceling or Replacing a Transaction After it’s Been Sent. If you use a different nonce, you have created a new transaction rather than replacing the old one. That new transaction can also remain pending, while the original is still capable of being mined.
- Use the exact account and network that created the original transaction.
- Copy the original nonce from the wallet or explorer; do not guess it.
- Keep the replacement’s intended action clear: a self-directed zero-value transaction is a cancellation attempt, not a refund.
- Check the fee, recipient and data fields character by character before signing.
- After signing, monitor the replacement hash and the original hash until one is confirmed or both are dropped.
If you are not comfortable verifying nonce and transaction data, stop after the wallet’s built-in option and consult the wallet’s official documentation. Do not hand control of the account to an unsolicited “recovery” service.

What to do when several transactions are pending
List the account’s recent transactions in nonce order. The lowest unresolved nonce generally blocks later transactions from the same address. Replacing a higher nonce first will not normally let it execute while a lower nonce remains unresolved.
Identify every replacement hash before signing anything else. A replacement with the same nonce may have superseded an earlier attempt, but an incorrectly numbered transaction can add another queue entry. If the wallet display and explorer disagree, trust the explorer for on-chain status and use the wallet’s support documentation to clear stale local entries.
Never use a blanket “reset account” or “clear activity” control as if it were an on-chain cancellation. Such controls may erase local history without changing a transaction already broadcast to the network.

A validator exit is a consensus-layer protocol operation, not an ordinary execution-layer transaction. Ethereum.org says the duration varies according to how many validators are exiting, and the Launchpad describes an exit queue whose timing is influenced by demand and a network rate limit. Sending a higher gas fee, replacing a wallet nonce or pressing a wallet speed-up button does not move a validator ahead in that queue.

Check the validator record
- Identify the validator index or public key. Use public validator information, not a private signing key.
- Check its state in a reputable beacon-chain explorer or the official staking interface. Distinguish active, exiting, exited and withdrawable states.
- Read the current Launchpad withdrawal guidance. Queue conditions change with exit demand, so a historical estimate is not a promise for today.
- Wait for protocol processing once the exit is queued. There is no wallet fee setting that bypasses the exit queue.
Do not submit repeated exit requests because a dashboard appears slow. A duplicate request does not make the protocol process the first request faster and can create confusion about which operation is being displayed.

Automatic withdrawals and withdrawal credentials
Automatic validator withdrawals are handled by the protocol when a validator is eligible; they are not the same as a full voluntary exit. The Launchpad explains that a validator must have an appropriately registered withdrawal address. It also warns that the address cannot be changed after it is set.
Check the withdrawal credentials and destination before assuming that a missing balance is a stuck transaction. A withdrawal may be waiting for eligibility or protocol processing rather than sitting in a wallet’s transaction pool. If the address was registered incorrectly, do not send replacement transactions from a wallet: the protocol’s credential rules, not an execution-layer gas bid, govern the result.

If you staked through a pool or hold a liquid staking token, the apparent “pending transaction” may be an internal withdrawal request, an unlock period or a provider-side queue. Ethereum.org notes that providers handle staking withdrawals differently. The Ethereum protocol cannot show or accelerate every provider’s internal status.
- Open the provider’s official dashboard and record the withdrawal or redemption request ID.
- Confirm whether the request is on-chain, waiting for an unlock period, or awaiting provider processing.
- Compare the provider’s status with the relevant blockchain transaction hash, if one exists.
- Use only the provider’s documented support channel; do not follow links sent by unsolicited accounts.
A provider may require a separate claim transaction after its waiting period. That claim is an ordinary wallet transaction and can be assessed with the pending-transaction steps above, but the provider’s waiting period itself cannot be canceled by replacing a nonce.
Scams, irreversible transfers and support limits
Pending transactions attract impersonators because users are anxious and may reveal too much information. No legitimate helper needs your seed phrase or private key to inspect a transaction hash. Anyone asking for either can take control of the account and move its assets.
Ethereum.org’s support page states: “There is no company, support team, or help desk behind Ethereum.” It also explains that ethereum.org is not a wallet, exchange or financial platform and that its staff will not contact users first. Read its guidance at Ethereum support.

- Never enter a seed phrase into a website sent by direct message or email.
- Never sign a transaction whose recipient or data you do not understand.
- Never install remote-control software for a supposed “blockchain technician.”
- Never pay an upfront recovery fee in cryptocurrency to unlock or reverse a confirmed transfer.
- Use the official wallet, provider and network websites that you navigate to yourself.
A confirmed transaction cannot be reversed through a cancellation procedure. Funds sent to the wrong address are not made recoverable by a gas replacement, an explorer, or an Ethereum help desk. Treat every signed transaction as final unless the protocol or the receiving service explicitly provides a separate, legitimate recovery mechanism.
