If a Solana DeFi transaction appears stuck or failed, start with its transaction signature. A wallet saying sent only means an RPC endpoint accepted the signed transaction; it does not prove that the Solana cluster processed, confirmed, or finalized it. Check the signature status, inspect any returned error, and only create a replacement when the original transaction can no longer execute or has clearly failed.
Do not share your recovery phrase, private key, or wallet approval code with anyone promising to unstick a transaction. Those credentials cannot repair an on-chain transaction and can give an attacker control of your funds.
1. Find the transaction signature
Open your wallet’s activity, history, or transaction page and select the DeFi operation. Copy the long alphanumeric value labeled signature, transaction ID, or txid. Every troubleshooting step depends on this identifier; a screenshot of a wallet notification is not enough.
If the wallet shows no signature, the transaction may never have been signed or submitted. Check whether the wallet approval window was cancelled, rejected, or closed before signing. If you did sign it, look for a copy button, a details panel, or an activity entry that exposes the signature.

2. Check status before doing anything else
Use a reputable Solana explorer or the wallet’s transaction-details view to search the signature. Solana’s RPC interface provides the same information programmatically. The getSignatureStatuses method reports whether the cluster has seen the signature and what confirmation level it reached. Once a transaction is confirmed, getTransaction can return its execution details, including an error field when one is available.

A successful sendTransaction response is only an acknowledgement that an RPC service accepted the signed payload. It is not confirmation from the cluster. The signature status and, for a confirmed transaction, the transaction record are the evidence you need.
3. Understand why a pending transaction is risky to repeat
Solana transactions use a recent blockhash to limit how long they can be processed. Core documentation describes a 150-slot processing-age limit, while the payment guide describes blockhash expiry as approximately 60 seconds. Slot times and wallet display delays vary, so neither figure is a guaranteed countdown on your screen.

Until that validity window ends, the original transaction could still land. Sending a second transaction with the same economic effect can therefore create a duplicate withdrawal, swap, deposit, or repayment. Guidance for uncertain exchange withdrawals is to wait for the original blockhash to expire before retrying, then verify the first signature again.
What to do while it is pending
- Record the original signature and the time you submitted it.
- Check the signature status again after a short interval rather than repeatedly pressing the wallet’s send button.
- Look at the destination account or token balance only as a secondary clue; balances can lag, and an application may credit funds separately from the underlying transfer.
- Wait for the transaction’s validity information to show that the blockhash is no longer usable, or for the status to become an explicit failure.
- Only then decide whether a replacement is safe.
4. Read the failure instead of guessing
A failed Solana transaction is atomic: if any instruction fails, state changes from the entire transaction are reverted. The fee is different. Network fees are charged for processing even when execution fails, so a failed swap can reduce your SOL balance without changing your token position.

Error text can be nested inside program logs, so an explorer may show a technical code rather than a plain-English explanation. Copy the complete message, including the program name and instruction index, when asking the application’s support team for help.

5. Rebuild safely after expiry or a clear failure
A replacement is a new transaction, not a resend of the old signed bytes. It must use a current blockhash, fresh fee calculation, and a new authorization from the wallet.

- Confirm that the first signature is failed or that its blockhash validity has ended.
- Return to the same DeFi application and reopen the intended action. Do not modify the recipient or amount unless you have checked the details carefully.
- Let the application construct a new transaction. Avoid manually editing serialized transaction data unless you are an experienced developer who can verify every account and instruction.
- Review the wallet prompt: source account, destination, token mint, amount, network fee, priority fee if displayed, and any spending approval.
- Sign and submit the new transaction once.
- Copy the new signature and track it independently. Never infer success from the application returning to its home screen.
If the original operation was a swap, compare the resulting token balances and the confirmed transaction’s instructions. A failed transaction should revert its state changes, but a separate approval transaction or an earlier partial setup transaction may remain on-chain.
6. Handle common DeFi situations
Swap shows pending but no tokens arrived
Search the signature first. If it is confirmed, inspect the transaction accounts and balances; the swap may have completed with a different output amount because of price movement or slippage settings. If it is still unknown, do not submit a second swap until the original expires. If it failed with a slippage, route, or program error, adjust the setting only after the application explains why the instruction was rejected.

Withdrawal is uncertain
Keep the original signature, destination address, token mint, and requested amount together. Ask the receiving service to search the signature rather than sending another withdrawal immediately. Once the first transaction is confirmed, the receiving service can usually match the on-chain transfer even if its account credit is delayed.
Deposit appears missing in an application
A confirmed transfer proves what happened on Solana, not that an application has credited its internal account. Provide the confirmed signature and destination account to the application’s support channel. Do not disclose wallet secrets, and do not assume that sending a second deposit will repair an indexing or crediting delay.
7. Fees you may still pay
Solana documentation lists a base fee of 5,000 lamports per signature. This is a protocol parameter, not a promise about the total amount shown by every wallet: additional fee components, such as an optional prioritization fee, can apply. The fee payer must have enough SOL when the transaction is processed.

Because fees are charged even when an instruction fails, repeated retries can drain the fee payer’s SOL. Fix the cause first, especially a stale blockhash, inadequate SOL, or an application-level rejection.
8. When the error belongs to the DeFi application
General Solana status tools can show that an instruction failed, but they cannot determine every protocol’s business rules. Lending markets, automated market makers, staking systems, and aggregators may reject a transaction because an account is in an unexpected state, a market is paused, a quote expired, a position changed, or a user lacks a required permission.
Use the application’s official explanation for that specific program error. Include the signature, UTC time, wallet public address, and the exact error text when requested. Share only public information; never send a seed phrase, private key, one-time approval code, or remote-control access.

10. Prevent the next stuck transaction
- Keep enough SOL in the fee-payer account for the intended operation and a failed-attempt fee.
- Confirm the destination address and token mint in the wallet prompt, not only in the application’s form.
- Do not close the wallet or application until you have copied the signature.
- Use the application’s current quote and slippage controls, especially for volatile swaps.
- After submission, track the signature directly instead of relying on a toast notification.
- Keep a private record of the signature, amount, destination, and UTC submission time; these details make support cases faster without exposing secrets.
