If a prediction market froze your account or won’t let you withdraw, save the notice and account records, then contact the platform through its official support or appeal channel. Ask what triggered the restriction, what is happening to your funds and open positions, and what steps or timeline apply to your case. The answer depends on the exact service, product, jurisdiction, terms, and reason for the restriction; no general withdrawal deadline or guaranteed resolution is established.

First identify what is actually restricted

A sign-in failure, a ban on trading, an account under review, a withdrawal marked pending, and a restriction on a wallet are different problems. Record the exact message and when it appeared. Identify the company and product holding the account, and whether it is a U.S. service or an international product. Some operators run separate services with different rules, so the name shown in an app or website alone may not settle which terms apply.

For example, Polymarket describes its U.S. and International services as separate. Its International product is described as non-custodial: users hold their own private keys, and collateral for open positions is held in a smart contract. A platform restriction, access to a wallet, collateral in an open position, and processing a withdrawal may therefore be separate issues. The exact mechanics depend on the wallet, chain, contract, and current rules; do not assume the platform can return assets it does not custody or that self-custody guarantees access. Polymarket’s Trust & Safety Hub and its description of its governance and enforcement explain its service distinction and restrictions.

Preserve records before contacting support

Keep copies of information that can identify the restriction and trace the funds. Save it somewhere private and accessible if you cannot sign in.

Make a focused support request

Use the in-product help route or contact details on the operator’s verified website. Include the account identifier only as requested through its secure channel, the restriction or withdrawal reference, the relevant date, and the specific action you want reviewed. Keep the case number and the response in writing.

Ask the operator to clarify:

  • The specific reason for the restriction and the term, rule, or policy it is applying.
  • Whether identity, payment method, or source-of-funds verification is required, and how to submit it securely.
  • Whether the amount is available to withdraw, tied up as collateral in an open position, or otherwise held, and what status applies to the withdrawal request.
  • What you may do with the account or positions while the review is pending.
  • How to appeal, what information the appeal should include, and when to expect the next update.

Ask for a case-specific estimate in writing rather than relying on a generic expectation. The sources available here do not establish a universal withdrawal period, appeal-resolution time, or likelihood of reinstatement.

Use the operator’s appeal route

Follow the instructions in the restriction notice or the operator’s published process. Polymarket’s Trust & Safety page says users can appeal using the link in a notice or email trust@polymarket.com; it says users may provide context and receive the rationale for a decision. This is Polymarket-specific guidance, not a general appeal channel for prediction markets. Check its Trust & Safety Hub for the current instructions.

Keep an appeal concise and factual: identify the decision, explain what you believe is incorrect or incomplete, attach relevant records through the approved channel, and state what outcome you are requesting. Do not create another account or try to evade a restriction while an appeal is pending.

Check jurisdiction before seeking outside help

External complaint or arbitration routes depend on the venue, product, and eligibility rules. The CFTC’s customer guidance says customers with problems can seek help through its Reparations Program or NFA arbitration, and points consumers toward other agencies for other financial-service categories. That guidance does not establish that every prediction-market dispute qualifies. Confirm the relevant entity’s registration, the product involved, the forum’s requirements, and any deadlines before relying on a route. The CFTC’s registration and customer guidance is a starting point.

Kalshi’s help page describes Kalshi as regulated by the CFTC as a Designated Contract Market. That is the operator’s description, not an adjudication of an individual account dispute; check current CFTC records and the rules for the particular entity and product. Kalshi’s explanation of its regulation provides its account of that status.

A dated regulatory development is not a remedy for a particular customer. In an August 11, 2026 release, the CFTC described an active dispute involving Kalshi and New York and said it had exercised emergency authority and ordered continued operation under the Commodity Exchange Act’s Core Principles. That release does not resolve an individual withdrawal complaint or replace current, jurisdiction-specific advice. Read the CFTC’s August 11, 2026 release.

Do not try to bypass a location restriction

Do not use a VPN, alternate account, or another workaround to trade where the service prohibits it. Polymarket says users in restricted jurisdictions, including users in the United States, cannot trade on its International platform and that circumvention violates its terms. Check the rules for the exact service rather than assuming a restriction on one product applies identically to another. Polymarket’s restriction policy and Trust & Safety guidance describe its position.
