Start with the store or marketplace that accepted your order. Keep the card, sealed product, packaging, order record, delivery details, and messages together, then report the precise problem through that seller’s official order or support page. The remedy and deadline depend on whether you bought from Pokémon Center US, a marketplace such as TCGplayer, or another retailer; there is no single Pokémon-card return rule.
Use the route that matches the problem: check for a split shipment when a Pokémon Center item is missing, request a return and refund for an eligible Pokémon Center item damaged in transit, contact a TCGplayer seller within 30 calendar days of the estimated delivery date for a missing or misdescribed card, or use Pokémon Support’s limited manufacturing-error process when the defect appears to have occurred during printing or packaging.
Do this before you contact anyone
Do not throw away the shipping carton, wrapper, booster packaging, packing slip, or card. Keep everything in the condition in which it arrived while you document the issue. Take clear photographs or scans of the item and packaging, including the shipping label, visible dents, tears, moisture, crushed corners, missing contents, and any card details that differ from the listing. This is sensible evidence preservation, not a universal requirement: some marketplace policies do not allow a seller to make photographs a prerequisite for resolving a covered claim.
- Save the order number, listing or product name, quantity, seller name, purchase date, delivery date, and tracking number.
- Record whether the problem concerns the outside package, a sealed product, an individual card, or a card’s authenticity, identity, quantity, or condition.
- Do not alter, clean, flatten, trim, sleeve, or otherwise repair the card before the seller tells you what to do.
- Keep copies of every message and note when you sent each request.
Separate a scuffed mailer from a damaged card. Shipping packaging can show wear while protecting the contents, and a store may treat those situations differently. Conversely, a card that is bent, wet, creased, miscut, or missing from a sealed product needs to be described specifically rather than simply reported as “damaged.”

Identify the problem and the right deadline
The package never arrived
Open the original order page and check the estimated delivery date, tracking status, cancellation notice, and shipment history. If the tracking is confusing or the parcel is late, use the seller or marketplace’s missing-order procedure rather than starting with a card manufacturer. TCGplayer’s covered missing-order route requires contacting the seller within 30 calendar days after the estimated delivery date.
One item is missing from a Pokémon Center order
First check whether that line was partially cancelled or placed in a separate shipment. Pokémon Center orders can be split, so an item absent from one box may still be on its way. If neither a partial cancellation nor a split shipment explains the missing item, contact Pokémon Center with the order details.
The product or card arrived damaged
Describe the actual contents separately from the outer box or sleeve. Pokémon Center’s policy distinguishes damage to protective outer packaging from damage to the product. For eligible, non-final-sale items that are damaged or defective, Pokémon Center US says a return for refund may be made within 30 days of delivery. It does not currently offer exchanges. Damage caused accidentally by the buyer is not repairable or replaceable by Pokémon Center.

The listing does not match what you received
Examples include the wrong Pokémon card, an incorrect quantity, a different set or language, or a condition that is worse than the listing stated. Contact the marketplace seller through the transaction page and identify the exact mismatch. Do not rely on a general statement such as “not good condition”; compare the received card with the listing’s description and stated condition.
The card may have a factory or printing defect
A suspected manufacturing, printing, or packaging error follows a different path from shipping damage or seller misrepresentation. Pokémon Support has a limited card-replacement route for those issues. It recommends returning a purchase to the retailer when the cards were damaged for any other reason.

What to do with a Pokémon Center US order
If an item is missing
- Sign in to your Pokémon Center account, or locate the guest order using the order information supplied at checkout.
- Review the order for a partial cancellation, back-order notice, and separate tracking numbers.
- Wait for a listed split shipment to arrive if the order record shows that the missing line is shipping separately.
- If the item was neither cancelled nor split into another shipment, contact Pokémon Center support and provide the order number, missing product, delivery date, and package details.
The return-help process also allows guests to look up an order with the order ID and shipping postal code. Use that lookup when you need to initiate or track an eligible return.

If the contents are damaged or defective
For a qualifying non-final-sale item, Pokémon Center US states that you may return it for a refund within 30 days of delivery. The policy does not provide an exchange option. Contact support before sending fragile material back so you receive the applicable instructions. If only the outer protective wrap or shipping carton is scuffed and the product itself is intact, do not assume that condition alone qualifies for a refund; final-sale items cannot be returned for a refund based only on outer-wrap damage.
When you contact support, state whether the card or sealed product itself is affected, attach the order information, and wait for the return directions. Do not mail an item to an address found elsewhere or send it back without the instructions associated with your order.
What to do with a TCGplayer order
Open the seller conversation from Order History
- Open TCGplayer and go to Order History.
- Select the affected order and choose Contact Seller.
- Send the order number, estimated delivery date, card name and set, listed condition, and a factual description of what is missing or different.
- Request the outcome you prefer—reshipment, refund, or return instructions—while allowing for the seller’s available remedy.
For missing or not-as-described items, the published marketplace process gives you 30 calendar days from the estimated delivery date to contact the seller. In the covered singles workflow, the seller has two business days to respond. A missing card may be reshipped when it is available; if it is unavailable, a refund may be offered. Condition disputes can result in a return and refund or another resolution under the marketplace process. Follow the approved return procedure; do not send the card to an unconfirmed address.

If the seller does not resolve the issue
If there is no response within the required period, or you and the seller cannot agree, escalate through TCGplayer customer service or its support chatbot from the order record. Include the complete message history and any tracking or photographs you have. The marketplace’s policy allows customer service to intervene in those circumstances.
If you suspect a counterfeit
Use TCGplayer’s dedicated customer-service route within the same 30-day window after the estimated delivery date. Describe the specific reasons for your concern and preserve the card and packaging. Do not publicly accuse a seller or alter the card while the platform reviews the transaction.
How to request a Pokémon manufacturing-error replacement
Use this route only when the evidence points to a factory, printing, or packaging problem—for example, an apparent production error rather than a crease caused by shipping. Pokémon Support says it has a limited number of card replacements, so submitting a request does not guarantee that a replacement will be available or approved.

- Keep the affected card and proof of purchase together.
- Scan or photograph each affected card on both the front and back, with enough detail for the error to be evaluated.
- Open a Pokémon Support ticket and provide the requested personal and purchase details.
- Explain why the issue appears to be manufacturing-related and identify every affected card.
- Follow the support team’s instructions about any additional evidence or shipping.
Pokémon Support expressly recommends trying to return the purchase to the retailer when the cards are damaged for a reason other than manufacturing error. A bent card from a crushed parcel, accidental damage after delivery, or a condition mismatch in a marketplace listing should therefore begin with the retailer or platform, not the manufacturing-error form.
Write a message that gets a useful answer
A concise, complete first message reduces back-and-forth. Include:
- Order number and the account email or other identifier requested by the platform.
- Delivery date, or the estimated delivery date for a marketplace claim.
- The exact product or card, set, language, quantity, and listed condition.
- What happened: missing, damaged in transit, wrong item, condition mismatch, suspected counterfeit, or apparent factory defect.
- The remedy you want: refund, reshipment, replacement review, or return instructions.
- A list of attached photographs or scans, if requested or useful.
For example: “Order 12345 was delivered on June 8. The listing described a near-mint card, but the card received has a crease across the lower-right corner. I have kept the envelope and card and attached front and back photographs. Please advise whether you can provide a refund, replacement, or approved return.” Replace the example details with your actual information and do not describe damage you cannot see.
Common mistakes that can weaken a claim
- Waiting past the applicable window: Pokémon Center’s qualifying damaged-item period is measured from delivery; TCGplayer’s missing or not-as-described window is measured from the estimated delivery date. They are different triggers.
- Ignoring split shipments: Check the Pokémon Center order record before reporting an item as lost.
- Calling all packaging wear product damage: Explain whether the card or sealed contents are affected.
- Returning the item without instructions: Obtain the platform’s approved return process first, particularly for marketplace orders.
- Assuming a replacement is automatic: Pokémon Center does not offer exchanges, and Pokémon Support describes only limited manufacturing-error replacements.
- Sending an incomplete condition complaint: Name the listing condition and the precise difference you received.
- Discarding evidence: Keep the packaging, order record, tracking, and messages until the case is closed.
When another retailer sold the card
The procedures above are verified for Pokémon Center US, Pokémon Support, and TCGplayer. A purchase from a local game shop, another marketplace, or a different Pokémon-licensed retailer may have a different deadline, return address, evidence rule, or remedy. Open that seller’s current help and return pages from your order record and follow its instructions. Do not treat the 30-day figures as a general consumer-rights deadline or apply one platform’s policy to another.
