If a hotel booking you started through ChatGPT is missing or has the wrong details, first verify whether checkout actually created a reservation. Then contact the hotel or booking provider that handled checkout to locate or correct its record. A hotel suggestion, itinerary, or ChatGPT reply is not proof of a confirmed room.
First determine whether you have a reservation
ChatGPT may help you discover or compare hotels without being the place where you complete the booking. In OpenAI’s October 7, 2026 example of Radisson Hotel Group’s ChatGPT experience, users explore properties, prices, and amenities in ChatGPT, then continue to Radisson’s website to book. That documented handoff does not establish that every hotel integration uses the same process.
Look for evidence from the checkout provider: a completed-booking screen, a reservation or itinerary number, a confirmation email, or a reservation listed in the provider’s account or app. A generated itinerary or a response saying a hotel is a good option is not enough. OpenAI’s Booking.com case study describes travel discovery and planning features, including availability and pricing from Booking.com’s database, but does not define a universal ChatGPT reservation record or management process.

The provider named on the checkout page or confirmation is the best starting point. The reviewed OpenAI material does not establish one universal hotel booking workflow across ChatGPT integrations.
Find the confirmation and identify the checkout provider
Start with the email address you entered during checkout, not necessarily the address associated with your ChatGPT account. Search that inbox for the hotel name, the booking company, and terms such as “reservation,” “booking,” “itinerary,” and “confirmation.” Check spam and junk folders, and search any other email address you might have used.
If you created or used an account on a hotel or booking-provider site, sign in there and look for a reservations or trips area. If checkout opened in a browser or app, check its history for the page or company that accepted your guest and payment details. These are practical ways to identify the provider; the confirmation channel can differ by integration.

When you find a confirmation, note the company that issued it and the reference number. A hotel may not be able to locate a reservation made through an intermediary using only your name, while the intermediary may need its own booking reference to investigate. Keep the confirmation available when contacting either party.
If you find several emails, distinguish an availability or price alert from a completed reservation. Look for language indicating a confirmed status, a property confirmation number, or a payment and cancellation section. Do not infer completion solely from an email that says you searched, viewed, or held an option; ask the named provider to verify its record.
Check every detail against what you intended
Compare the provider’s confirmation or account record with the original plan. Check the year as well as the month and day: a date that looks right at a glance can refer to a different year or stay length. Do not rely on a ChatGPT summary when the provider’s record is available.

- Property: Confirm the hotel name and location, especially if the destination has similarly named properties.
- Stay dates: Verify check-in and check-out dates, including the year.
- Room and rate: Check the room type and any rate conditions shown in the booking.
- Occupancy: Confirm the number of rooms and guests.
- Guest record: Check the guest name and contact details used for the reservation.
- Price: Compare the total and currency shown by the provider with the amount you expected. Use the provider’s breakdown if one is available.
- Status and reference: Record the reservation number and the booking status displayed by the provider.
Also read the rate conditions before requesting a change. A nonrefundable, prepaid, promotional, or otherwise restricted rate may have different options from a flexible rate. The applicable terms are the ones attached to the provider’s reservation, not a general assumption about hotel bookings.

Contact the hotel or booking provider to locate or correct it
Use the provider’s official website, app, or contact information on the confirmation. Ask the representative to search its booking system and confirm whether a reservation exists, what status it has, and which details are on file. If the reservation is present but incorrect, ask what change options apply to that specific booking.
For a flow that handed you from ChatGPT to a hotel website, contact that hotel’s booking support about the transaction. OpenAI’s Radisson example specifically describes completing the booking on Radisson’s own site. If you booked through an intermediary and the hotel cannot find the reservation, contact the intermediary with its reference number and ask it to verify the booking with the property.
Ask focused questions: “Is this reservation confirmed, pending, cancelled, or absent?” “What property confirmation number does the hotel have?” “Which dates, room type, guest count, and total are in the record?” and “What is the deadline and cost for changing or cancelling it?” Getting the answers in writing can reduce confusion when different systems display different information.
Keep the conversation focused on the transaction record. You can provide the reservation reference and the minimum identifying information the provider requests, but do not send passwords or full payment-card details in an email or support message. Save the confirmation, relevant messages, and payment record so you can refer to the same facts if the hotel and intermediary give different answers.

If the hotel says it cannot find an intermediary reservation, do not immediately conclude that no booking exists. Ask the intermediary to contact the property or provide the property’s confirmation number, and give the intermediary its own reference, guest name, dates, and hotel details. If the two parties continue to disagree, request each party’s stated status and preserve those responses for escalation.
Do not assume that ChatGPT can amend or cancel a hotel reservation. OpenAI’s published guidance that its restaurant feature does not save or modify existing reservations concerns restaurant reservations; it is not a stated hotel policy. For hotel changes, ask the provider responsible for your booking and check the terms attached to that reservation. Change and cancellation options can depend on those terms.
If a payment appears but no confirmation arrived
A card entry by itself does not establish that the hotel has a confirmed reservation. The available official sources do not set a universal confirmation or payment timing rule for all hotel partners, or explain how every provider handles a pending authorization, a delayed confirmation, or an incomplete checkout.
- Check the provider’s record. Contact the hotel or booking company shown in the checkout flow and ask whether it can locate a reservation for your name, email, property, and dates.
- Ask what the payment entry represents. If the provider cannot confirm the booking, ask the provider and your payment processor to explain the transaction’s status and what resolution applies to that transaction.
- Wait for a clear answer before trying again. Do not submit a second booking until you understand whether the first attempt completed; otherwise, you may create a duplicate reservation.
- Keep the evidence together. Preserve the transaction record and any provider response, but do not share sensitive payment details in a general support request.
When describing a charge, note the date, amount, currency, merchant name as it appears on the statement, and whether it is marked pending or completed. Share those details only through the provider or payment processor’s secure support channel and only as much as it requests. A processor can explain the transaction status, but it may not be able to create a hotel reservation; the provider must confirm the booking record.
If the provider confirms that no reservation exists while a charge remains, ask both the provider and payment processor what steps apply to that specific charge. The official material reviewed does not establish a single dispute timeline or remedy that applies to every hotel transaction.
Report a ChatGPT interface problem separately
Contact OpenAI Support if ChatGPT displayed an error, showed booking details incorrectly, or failed during the ChatGPT portion of the process. OpenAI’s Help Center article “How can I contact support?” recommends including a clear description, steps to reproduce the issue, the date and time with time zone, browser or device and network details, and relevant screenshots.

Make the report concrete: describe what you were doing, what you expected to happen, what appeared instead, and whether the problem can be repeated. Include the conversation or page context that is necessary to understand the display issue, but do not assume that a transcript proves a reservation was created by a provider.

A screenshot can help explain a display problem, but review it first and remove or obscure sensitive information. Do not include passwords, payment-card details, authentication codes, or other sensitive data. If support needs additional information, use the secure channel it provides rather than placing those details in a public post.
Keep the two support tracks distinct. OpenAI Support can investigate an interface problem, but a support request to OpenAI does not confirm, change, or cancel the hotel’s reservation. The hotel or booking provider remains the contact for the transaction record.

The official examples show why the checkout handoff matters. OpenAI’s Radisson case study, published October 7, 2026, describes hotel discovery and comparison in ChatGPT followed by booking on Radisson’s website. OpenAI’s Booking.com case study discusses travel discovery and planning capabilities, but it does not establish that every ChatGPT hotel interaction creates a reservation that can be viewed or managed inside ChatGPT.
OpenAI reports that the Radisson ChatGPT plugin saw approximately 1.5 times the visit-to-booking conversion of Radisson organic search in July and August 2026. It also reports that 54% of recorded checkout and booking events were attributed to ad views, and that the plugin took six weeks to build and launch. Those are company-reported case-study figures, not proof that an individual booking succeeded, nor a guarantee about another hotel integration.
Accordingly, there is no basis in those sources to assume a universal ChatGPT hotel reservation history, a standard confirmation channel, or a shared process for fixing a charge without a confirmation. Follow the actual checkout destination and the provider’s confirmation rather than treating a conversation as the authoritative booking record. For a specific missing or incorrect reservation, the practical question is which provider accepted checkout and what its system shows.

Prepare a concise escalation record
Before escalating, assemble a simple timeline: when you searched, when you entered guest and payment details, when checkout appeared to finish, when you noticed the problem, and whom you contacted. Record the time zone. List the property, dates, room type, guest count, email used, reference numbers, amount and currency, and the exact correction you want.
Send the record to the party responsible for that step, not to every company at once. The hotel or booking intermediary handles the reservation and its terms. The payment processor handles the transaction status. OpenAI Support handles a ChatGPT interface malfunction. Keeping those roles separate generally produces clearer answers and avoids treating an itinerary as a booking.

Does a ChatGPT hotel recommendation mean the room is reserved?
No. A recommendation, comparison, or itinerary is not confirmation. Look for a completion screen, reservation number, provider account record, or confirmation issued by the hotel or booking company.

Describe the error, expected and actual result, reproduction steps, date and time with time zone, browser or device, network details, and relevant screenshots. Remove passwords, card details, and other sensitive information.
