Start with the glasses’ physical position, not the cable. Wear the frame level, adjust the nose pads and temples, and move it slightly until the virtual screen is centered. Then check model-specific IPD (interpupillary distance) and nose-pad sizing, reduce the virtual screen size if only the edges are soft, clean the lenses, and verify any prescription insert. Treat dimness as a separate symptom from a missing image: raise brightness for a dark picture, but troubleshoot the USB-C connection, DisplayPort support, adapter, and source device when the display is black or absent. Finally, test each eye separately. Persistent blur on one side, an image that never becomes clear, or an unlit display after these checks warrants the manufacturer’s support service.
Use this order to find the problem
XR glasses can look blurry or misaligned because the frame is sitting at the wrong height, the optical modules do not match the wearer’s IPD, the virtual screen is larger than the clearest viewing area, or the lens path needs attention. A dim image may simply need a brightness adjustment, while a black or missing image usually points to the source connection. Work through reversible physical checks first, then optics and settings, then the source device and cable.
| What you see | First area to check | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Both eyes see a soft or off-center image | Frame level and centering | Reposition the glasses, then check the model’s IPD and nose-pad options. |
| Center is clear but outer edges are blurry | Virtual screen size and optical fit | Make the screen smaller, adjust the frame, and verify the correct optical module. |
| One eye remains blurry | Side-specific alignment or display fault | Close one eye at a time; if one side stays unclear, contact the manufacturer after basic checks. |
| Image is visible but too dark | Brightness setting and source behavior | Raise the glasses’ brightness and check how the connected device is outputting video. |
| No image, black screen, or one side unlit | Cable, port, adapter, or source | Reseat connections and confirm USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode support. |
1. Level and center the frame
Wear the glasses level
Put the frame on so it is not tilted or rotated. Shift it a little up or down until the virtual image sits in the middle of your view. Small changes in height can move your pupils into or out of the clearest part of the display.

Stabilize the nose pads and temples
Adjust the nose pads and temple arms so the glasses stay in the same position when you blink or turn your head. RayNeo’s support guidance describes this as adjusting “the position of the nose pad and the temples to find the best and most comfortable viewing angle.” The instruction is a model-maker’s practical adjustment, not proof that every case of blur is caused by fit.

After each adjustment, look at text or a high-contrast object in the virtual display. Move only one part of the frame at a time; otherwise you will not know which change helped.
2. Check model-specific optical fit
Use the correct IPD option
IPD is the distance between your pupils. Some glasses use interchangeable optical modules or other size choices to place each display in front of the correct eye position. RayNeo GT Max documentation lists S, M, and L optical modules for different IPDs. Choose the size specified for that model and your measured IPD before deciding the display is defective.
Do not transfer the GT Max sizes to another brand or model. Optical-module dimensions and fitting systems are not standardized across XR glasses.

Match the nose-pad height to your pupils
The same GT Max guidance lists S, M, and L nose-pad heights for pupil height. A frame can have the right horizontal IPD but still sit too high or low vertically. Select the model’s recommended nose-pad size, then repeat the level-and-center adjustment.
Understand the older NXTWEAR guidance
RayNeo’s NXTWEAR S/S+ FAQ gives a suitable IPD range of 58–69 mm and describes blurred surrounding corners as normal for that family, recommending nose-pad angle adjustment. That is product-specific, relatively old FAQ guidance; it is not an industry-wide IPD range and does not make persistent blur normal on every XR glasses model. Use the current instructions for the exact model you own.
3. If only the edges are blurry, bring the image inward
When the center is sharp but the outer portion is soft, the virtual screen may be extending beyond your clearest viewing area. Reduce the virtual screen size so less content sits near the edges. This does not repair a damaged display; it keeps more of the image inside the area where your eyes can focus comfortably.

Test with small text near the left and right sides after resizing. If the center and edges remain blurred regardless of screen size and frame position, continue to the lens and prescription checks rather than repeatedly changing the size.

4. Inspect the lens path
Clean the display lenses
Dust, fingerprints, skin oil, or a film on the display lenses can create haze, glare, or apparent softness. Clean the lenses using the method specified by the glasses maker and a suitable clean lens cloth. Avoid introducing scratches or liquid into the frame.
Verify a prescription insert
If you use prescription lenses, make sure the insert is seated correctly and aligned with the glasses. An insert that is tilted, reversed, or not fully clipped into place can make one or both sides look wrong. A model-compatible prescription insert or custom lens service may help a wearer who needs vision correction, but it is not a universal fix for poor frame alignment.

RayNeo product information identifies Lensology as a partner for lens services. Confirm that the insert is made for your exact model, that the prescription workflow suits you, and that the partner program is currently available before ordering. A generic insert may not fit the display housing or the intended eye position.
5. Separate dimness from a missing signal
For an image that is present but too dark
- Open the glasses’ brightness control and raise it gradually.
- Check the connected device’s display behavior, including whether it has changed output mode, dimmed its screen, or applied a power-saving setting.
- Look at both sides of the virtual image. If both are equally visible but dark, continue treating this as a brightness or source-output issue rather than immediately replacing a cable.
Brightness adjustment can address a dark picture, but it is not evidence that the cable or display hardware is healthy. If the image disappears, changes to black, or one side is unlit, use the connection checks below.
For a black screen or no signal
- Disconnect and firmly reseat both ends of the video cable.
- Unlock or wake the source device. Some devices do not begin external video output while locked.
- Confirm that the USB-C port you are using supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. A USB-C connector by itself does not establish video capability.
- If an adapter or dock is in the path, verify that it is connected correctly and powered when its design requires power.
- Try another compatible port, cable, or source device to isolate the failing part.
These steps address an absent or abnormal display. They should not be presented as the proven cause of every dim image.

6. Test one eye at a time
Close one eye, observe the image, then switch sides. RayNeo’s GT Series support instruction is: “Close one eye at a time to check whether the blurriness affects one side or both sides.” Note whether the left side, right side, or both sides are affected.
- Both eyes: Recheck frame level, IPD or optical-module selection, nose-pad height, screen size, lens cleanliness, and prescription-insert seating.
- One eye: Reposition the frame and confirm that the corresponding optical module or insert is seated correctly. If that side remains blurry while the other is clear, the issue may be side-specific alignment or a glasses fault.
- One side unlit: Reseat the connection, verify the source and DisplayPort support, and complete any applicable firmware checks. If the side remains dark, seek manufacturer service.
Record the result. Support teams may ask for the selected IPD size, nose-pad size, and whether one or both eyes are affected.
7. Check the source and firmware only after the physical checks
Once the frame and optics are correctly positioned, confirm that the source device is using a compatible video-output path. Test a known-compatible port or another device if available. If the manufacturer provides a firmware update process for your model, follow that process after confirming the cable and source; firmware can affect abnormal display behavior, but an update cannot correct a frame that is physically misaligned or an insert that is incorrectly fitted.

What to do when basic adjustments do not solve it
| Situation | Most appropriate next step | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Image improves when the frame moves | Keep the frame level and use the model’s nose-pad or temple adjustment. | The symptom tracks physical alignment. |
| Edges improve when the virtual screen is smaller | Use the smaller screen setting or revisit the model’s optical fit. | More content is staying within the clearer viewing area. |
| Both sides are clear with another cable or device | Replace or stop using the failing cable, port, adapter, or source path. | The fault follows the connection rather than the glasses. |
| A prescription wearer remains blurred after correct seating | Confirm exact-model compatibility with the insert or consult an appropriate lens provider. | The correction may not match the glasses’ optical path. |
| One side stays blurry or unlit through all checks | Contact the glasses manufacturer with your fit details and test results. | A persistent side-specific symptom can require inspection or replacement. |
When to contact the manufacturer
Escalate after you have leveled and repositioned the frame, selected the model-specific IPD and nose-pad options, reduced the screen size when appropriate, cleaned the lenses, checked any prescription insert, adjusted brightness, and verified the cable and source path. Contact support if one side remains blurry, the full image never becomes clear, or a side remains unlit after connection and firmware checks.
Include the exact glasses model, the optical-module and nose-pad sizes you selected, whether one or both eyes are affected, the source device and port, the cable or adapter used, and what happened with another compatible connection. This gives support the information it needs to distinguish fit, source, and hardware symptoms.
