The Mint Mobile offer announced October 8, 2026, gives new customers six months on any listed plan for $10 per month—but it requires $60 upfront, and taxes and fees are extra. After the promotion, the price depends on your plan and renewal term. Before you transfer your number, check the full checkout total, the renewal price, coverage where you use your phone, and whether your device is unlocked and compatible. The offer is limited-time, with no end date stated, so confirm that it is still available and review the terms shown at checkout.
Is the Mint Mobile deal really $10 a month?
For the first six months, the offer’s advertised rate is equivalent to $10 per month. It is not a $10 monthly payment: Mint requires $60 upfront for the six-month introductory period, before taxes and fees. The offer is for new customers and applies to the 6GB, 17GB, 23GB and Unlimited plans. T-Mobile’s October 8, 2026 announcement calls it limited-time but does not state an end date.
Your actual checkout total can be higher. Mint says taxes and fees are extra and may include a Recovery Fee, location-based telecom taxes, and shipping and handling. Compare the total shown at checkout—not just the monthly equivalent—with what you pay your current carrier, including its taxes and fees. Mint’s FAQ also cautions that introductory prices do not always match limited-time promotions; check the renewal options shown in your account or during checkout.

The six-month offer ends after the introductory period. Mint’s FAQ lists these prices when renewing for 12 months:

These are Mint’s listed 12-month renewal rates, not a promise that your promotional plan will renew at that price or term. Confirm the plan, payment term, and price Mint displays for your account before the promotion expires. The 12-month term also means you should compare the required prepayment with your current carrier’s billing arrangement, rather than comparing monthly figures alone.
Which Mint data plan fits your use?
Check your recent usage in your current carrier’s account or in your phone settings, especially if your usage varies month to month. Mint lists 6GB, 17GB, 23GB and Unlimited plans. On capped plans, Mint says data use beyond the allowance is slowed rather than cut off; you can also buy a data add-on or upgrade.

Understand the Unlimited limits
Mint says the first 50GB on Unlimited is at 5G/4G LTE speeds. The October 2026 announcement says data use above 50GB in a month may slow when the network is busy. “Unlimited” therefore does not mean unlimited high-speed data. Hotspot use draws from your plan’s monthly data allowance, and hotspot on Unlimited is limited to 20GB.

Check the features you actually use
Mint lists unlimited talk and text, high-speed data, mobile hotspot, Wi-Fi Calling and Scam Screener. Its listed international features include calling to Mexico, Canada and the UK, texts to more than 190 countries and destinations, and Canada roaming with unlimited talk and text plus 3GB of high-speed data. Mint says these international features are not intended for extended international use. If you rely on roaming or frequent international service, verify the current terms for the specific destinations and use you need before switching.

Will Mint Mobile work where you live?
Use Mint’s coverage map to check your home, workplace and places you visit regularly. A nationwide coverage claim cannot guarantee reception at a particular address. Mint notes that terrain, buildings, weather and other conditions can affect service. If reliable service matters in a specific building or neighborhood, check those locations rather than relying only on a broad coverage label.
Can you keep your phone and number if you switch to Mint?
Verify that your phone is unlocked and compatible
Mint requires a compatible, unlocked phone for bring-your-own-device service. Check the exact handset with Mint’s compatibility checker, and contact your current carrier if you need it unlocked. If your phone fails either check, consider a replacement only after confirming that the new device will work with Mint.

Choose eSIM or physical SIM
Mint offers instant eSIM delivery for eligible unlocked phones and physical SIM delivery. Some newer phones are eSIM-only, so verify that your particular model supports the option you intend to use before ordering.
Prepare the number transfer
Mint asks for your current carrier’s billing ZIP code, account number and number-transfer PIN or PIN. The required PIN varies by carrier, so check your current carrier’s instructions and account details before starting.

Do you need to cancel your current phone plan before switching?
No. Keep your current line active until Mint activation and the number transfer are complete. Mint warns that canceling early can interfere with transferring your number. If you are moving multiple lines, activate each one individually and activate the primary account holder’s line last.
What do Mint’s trial and refund terms cover?
Seven-day free trial
Mint describes a seven-day free trial that includes 250 minutes, 250 texts and 250MB of data. The trial uses a new number, and Mint says each customer can have one trial. Its limited allowance can help you check service in places you normally go, but it is not equivalent to testing a regular plan with your usual number and typical data use.
Seven-day money-back policy for a full plan
For full phone plan purchases made through Mint’s website or app, Mint says you can cancel within seven days of activation for a refund of the purchase price, including fees and taxes; shipping is not refunded. This is separate from the free trial. Confirm the terms that apply to your purchase before relying on a refund.
