Before buying JK Cement shares, verify five things in order: the date-stamped price and valuation, audited earnings quality, operating momentum, the funding and execution risk of expansion, and the company’s disclosure trail. JK Cement’s FY2025-26 filing gives a sound historical starting point, while its Q1 FY2027 presentation describes growth targets that still need confirmation in subsequent filings. Because no reliable 13 October 2026 quote or same-date peer multiples are established here, this checklist deliberately stops short of a buy, sell or price-target call.
1. Confirm the security and reporting basis
You are assessing J. K. Cement Limited, NSE symbol JKCEMENT and BSE scrip code 532644. NSE identifies cement and cement-related products as the reported segment. The company’s investor materials also describe a broader building-materials business, so read the segment notes rather than assuming every activity has cement-like economics.
Start with the issuer’s Investor Relationship page and the Announcements page. Record the document date, reporting period, and whether each figure is standalone or consolidated. The audited consolidated filing approved on 23 May 2026 covers the year ended 31 March 2026. Use consolidated figures when comparing the company with consolidated peer results; mixing bases can make margins, debt and valuation appear falsely attractive.
Build a one-page identity check
- Confirm the ticker, exchange and security name before entering an order.
- Write down the reporting period beside every number.
- Label standalone, consolidated, audited and unaudited figures separately.
- Note whether a figure is historical, a quarterly snapshot or management guidance.
- Record the exact document link so another person can reproduce your calculation.
2. Establish a date-stamped valuation before interpreting the business
Obtain a current NSE or BSE quote and preserve the date and time. A share price without a date is not a usable valuation input, especially around results, dividend announcements or broad market moves. The material available for this article does not establish a reliable closing price for 13 October 2026, so no current multiple or price target can be stated responsibly.
#1 Best Overall
Use consistent denominators
| Measure | How to calculate | Checks to record |
|---|---|---|
| Price-to-earnings | Market capitalisation divided by profit attributable to owners, or share price divided by fully diluted earnings per share. | Quote date, trailing or forward period, consolidated or standalone basis, and any exceptional items. |
| Enterprise-value-to-EBITDA | Equity value plus debt and other relevant claims, less cash, divided by EBITDA. | Net-debt definition, period-end date and whether EBITDA is reported, adjusted or normalised. |
| Free-cash-flow yield | Cash flow available after maintenance capital expenditure divided by equity value. | How maintenance and expansion capital expenditure were separated and whether working-capital movements are recurring. |
Compare the result with relevant listed cement companies using the same period, accounting basis and multiple definition. A lower multiple can reflect slower growth, higher leverage or greater project risk; a higher multiple can reflect stronger expected returns, not simply an expensive share. Do not call JK Cement cheap or expensive until the quote and comparable figures are collected on the same date.
Make the valuation worksheet reproducible
Save the closing price, shares outstanding or market capitalisation, cash, gross debt and the earnings period in separate cells. State whether you use trailing FY2026 profit, a later quarter annualisation or an analyst forecast. If you annualise a quarter for an internal sensitivity, label it as an assumption rather than reported earnings. Recalculate enterprise value after every material debt or cash change, and do not compare a consolidated EV/EBITDA with a standalone EBITDA.
3. Read the audited FY2025-26 numbers as a baseline, not a forecast
The NSE audited consolidated integrated filing reports the following for the year ended 31 March 2026:
| FY2025-26 consolidated measure | Reported value | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue from operations | ₹13,722.30 crore | Anchor for scale and year-over-year comparisons using the same accounting basis. |
| Profit attributable to owners | ₹992.49 crore | Primary consolidated earnings denominator for a P/E calculation, subject to normalisation of unusual items. |
| Debt-equity ratio | 0.86 | Historical capital structure indicator; inspect the underlying debt and equity definitions. |
| Interest service coverage ratio | 6.12 | Historical ability to cover finance costs; it is not a promise about post-expansion coverage. |
Read the notes behind each headline number. Check whether profit includes one-off gains or charges, how subsidiaries and joint arrangements are consolidated, and whether accounting-policy changes affect comparability. Review operating cash flow alongside profit: a business can report accounting earnings while cash is tied up in receivables, inventory or contract assets.
Questions to answer in the annual filing
- Did operating cash flow broadly support reported profit over several years?
- What explains changes in receivable days, inventory and payable days?
- How much debt is short term, floating rate or secured?
- What commitments, guarantees, leases or contingent liabilities sit outside the headline debt figure?
- Are minority interests, exceptional items or tax effects changing the earnings attributable to owners?
- Are finance costs, depreciation and capitalised interest moving differently because projects are under construction?
- Do segment results explain the difference between the group’s cement operations and its broader building-materials description?
4. Check the latest operating snapshot without confusing it with a trend
A Q1 FY2027 investor presentation, reproduced by BazaarWatch, reports standalone operating figures. The presentation is a company communication reproduced by a secondary source, not an independently tested dataset; verify the original exchange attachment before relying on it.
| Q1 FY2027 standalone item | Reported figure | Reported year-on-year change |
|---|---|---|
| Grey-cement volume | 5.96 million tonnes | 18% |
| White-cement volume | 0.54 million tonnes | 29% |
| Revenue | ₹3,866 crore | 18% |
| EBITDA | ₹639 crore | 29% |
Use these numbers to form questions, not to extrapolate a full-year result. Reconcile volume growth with realisation per tonne, product mix, freight, power and fuel costs, and cash conversion. Check whether the reported EBITDA definition matches the one used in annual and peer filings. One strong quarter does not establish a durable margin cycle.
Bridge the quarter to the annual model
Calculate revenue per reported tonne only when the volume and revenue definitions cover the same products and period. Keep grey and white cement separate where possible, then explain any mix change. Compare the 18% revenue increase with the 29% EBITDA increase: the difference may reflect operating leverage, pricing, mix or cost movements, but the presentation alone does not identify the cause. Seek the quarterly filing, notes and management explanation rather than assigning a permanent margin uplift.

5. Test earnings quality, margins and demand sensitivity
Cement earnings respond to both tonnes sold and the spread between selling prices and variable costs. Build a multi-period worksheet containing volume, realisation per tonne, revenue, EBITDA, EBITDA per tonne, profit, operating cash flow and working-capital movements.
Operating checks
- Separate grey- and white-cement volumes and identify the share of each in revenue.
- Calculate realisation per tonne from disclosed revenue and volume where the definitions are compatible.
- Compare utilisation with installed capacity; growth from a low base can look large without filling the network.
- Track power, fuel, freight, raw-material and packaging costs against EBITDA per tonne.
- Check whether price increases hold after discounts, freight and mix effects.
- Compare EBITDA growth with operating cash-flow growth and investigate any widening gap.
- Look for working-capital changes that temporarily improve or depress cash generation.
- Separate maintenance spending from expansion spending when assessing free cash flow.
The available filings do not quantify a current commodity-cost sensitivity or regional-demand forecast. Treat those as items to investigate in subsequent results rather than inserting a numerical scenario that the disclosures do not support.
Use simple sensitivity questions
Ask what happens if tonnes grow but realisation per tonne is flat, if selling prices rise while power or fuel costs rise faster, or if freight increases because new capacity serves distant markets. You do not need to invent percentages: identify which disclosed line items would move, then update the worksheet when the company reports them. A useful warning sign is revenue or EBITDA growth that repeatedly fails to convert into operating cash flow.
6. Treat capacity expansion as a project portfolio, not guaranteed growth
The Q1 FY2027 presentation reports 32.3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of grey-cement capacity and a management roadmap to reach 50 MTPA by FY2030. It also describes ₹5,000–6,000 crore of planned capital expenditure over two years and names projects scheduled for the first half of FY2028. These are targets and schedules, not commissioned assets or guaranteed returns.

| Stage | Evidence to seek | Investor question |
|---|---|---|
| Approval and design | Permits, land, environmental clearances, technology and announced scope. | What could delay the start or change the cost? |
| Construction | Capital work in progress, cash spent, contractor progress and revised completion dates. | Is spending tracking the original budget and schedule? |
| Commissioning | Commercial-production notice, nameplate capacity and ramp-up data. | When does the asset begin contributing revenue and cash? |
| Utilisation | Quarterly tonnes, regional dispatches and incremental margin. | Is new capacity earning an acceptable return rather than merely adding volume? |
Compare actual additions with the 50 MTPA roadmap, but do not book the target as present capacity. Examine capex per added tonne, start-up costs, logistics infrastructure and whether demand can absorb the output in each region. A delay, cost overrun or weak utilisation can reduce returns even when the long-term capacity ambition remains unchanged.
Turn the ₹5,000–6,000 crore plan into checkpoints
Record the announced two-year budget, the portion spent in each reporting period, capital work in progress and any revised estimate. Ask which projects and assets the budget includes; do not assume the entire amount relates to one plant or that it will be spent evenly. Once project scope and actual additions are disclosed, calculate capex per added tonne and compare it with the resulting utilisation and cash contribution. The relevant cost is not only construction: include commissioning, logistics and the financing burden shown in later filings.
7. Stress-test leverage and funding
Expansion requires more than an announced budget. Review subsequent filings for gross debt, net debt, finance costs, cash flow from operations, capital work in progress and undrawn or committed facilities. Determine whether projects are funded from internal cash, new borrowing, asset sales, equity or a combination.
Funding questions
- Does debt rise faster than operating earnings during construction?
- How much of the borrowing is floating-rate, and when does it mature?
- Will interest costs capitalised during construction later move into the income statement?
- Can operating cash flow fund maintenance capital expenditure as well as expansion?
- Are covenant headroom and liquidity disclosed under a downside case?
- What happens to interest coverage if commissioning is delayed while interest expense continues?
- Does the funding mix dilute owners or create refinancing concentration?
The FY2026 leverage and coverage ratios are historical reference points. They do not establish future leverage after the planned programme. Recalculate them after every material borrowing, acquisition, commissioning or major change in cash balances. Keep gross debt, cash and lease liabilities visible rather than relying on one net-debt number.

Use the issuer’s investor-relations archive and announcements page to retrieve the newest annual report, quarterly result, investor presentation, board or meeting outcome and material-event notice. Because these are rolling pages, inspect the document date and reporting period each time rather than assuming the first visible file is the latest relevant one.
Reconcile management commentary with exchange-filed numbers. The FY2025-26 message on the investor-relations page attributes this statement to the managing director: “Over the last five years, we have more than doubled our grey cement capacity while evolving from a cement company into a comprehensive building materials player.” Treat it as management’s characterization and test it against capacity additions, segment disclosures and returns, rather than as independent verification.
Disclosure red flags
- A presentation number cannot be matched to an exchange filing or defined measure.
- Capacity is described without a commissioning date, cost estimate or utilisation plan.
- Debt, capital work in progress or related-party commitments change sharply without explanation.
- Adjusted EBITDA removes recurring expenses or uses a definition that differs from peers.
- Guidance is repeated while milestones, spending or returns are not updated.
- Standalone figures are presented beside consolidated figures without a clear label.
- A secondary reproduction is quoted when the original exchange attachment is available.
9. Compare JK Cement with peers on decision-useful axes
Do not rank the company from a single P/E number. Build a peer sheet with the same reporting period, consolidated basis and calculation rules.
| Axis | Metrics | Comparability warning |
|---|---|---|
| Valuation | P/E, EV/EBITDA and free-cash-flow yield. | State quote date, earnings period, net-debt treatment and exceptional-item adjustments. |
| Profitability | EBITDA margin, EBITDA per tonne and return on capital. | Align product mix and EBITDA definitions; white cement can have different economics from grey cement. |
| Balance sheet | Net debt, debt-equity, interest coverage and operating cash generation. | Check lease liabilities, minority interests and whether ratios use average or closing balances. |
| Growth and execution | Capacity under construction, capex per added tonne, commissioning timing, utilisation and post-commissioning returns. | Separate announced targets from operating assets and use the same capacity definition. |
| Business mix and geography | Grey versus white cement and exposure to regional markets. | Regional demand, freight distance and pricing power can make apparently similar companies behave differently. |
No peer dataset or same-date multiples are established here, so this framework should guide your own comparison rather than support a claim that JK Cement is better, worse, cheap or expensive.

Complete the following worksheet using documents dated close to your intended purchase:
- Price: record the exchange, quote date and price.
- Denominator: choose trailing or forward earnings and document the period and accounting basis.
- Quality: reconcile profit, EBITDA and operating cash flow; identify unusual items.
- Operations: record volumes, realisations, utilisation and cost trends for several periods.
- Projects: list each expansion milestone, expected spend, completion date and subsequent update.
- Funding: model debt, interest cost, liquidity and cash generation after expansion spending.
- Comparison: calculate the same multiples and operating measures for an appropriate peer set.
- Risk rule: write in advance what delay, leverage increase, margin deterioration or valuation level would make you wait.
- Evidence status: mark every input as verified, estimated or unresolved and keep the underlying filing beside the worksheet.
Classify each item as verified, unresolved or contradicted. An unresolved current quote or peer valuation is not a reason to guess; it is a reason to defer the valuation conclusion until the missing data is obtained.

11. Common mistakes and how to correct them
Using an undated price
Problem: A historical quote is treated as current. Correction: capture the exchange, date and time immediately before calculating multiples.
Mixing standalone and consolidated results
Problem: Company earnings are compared with group debt or a peer reported on another basis. Correction: use consolidated-with-consolidated or standalone-with-standalone and label every worksheet column.
Recommended Free Tools
Capitalising management targets
Problem: The 50 MTPA roadmap or planned capex is treated as completed. Correction: wait for commissioning evidence, actual spend, utilisation and return data.
Annualising one quarter
Problem: Q1 growth is multiplied by four without testing seasonality, pricing or costs. Correction: compare several periods and reconcile the presentation with the original filing.
Ignoring cash and financing
Problem: EBITDA growth is viewed as value creation while debt and working capital absorb cash. Correction: follow operating cash flow, capital work in progress, net debt and finance costs together.
Comparing unlike EBITDA figures
Problem: One company reports adjusted EBITDA while another reports an unadjusted measure. Correction: read the definition, remove or retain the same categories consistently, and disclose the adjustment.
What this evidence can—and cannot—tell you
You can establish a disciplined starting point: the FY2026 audited consolidated scale and profitability, historical leverage and coverage, the Q1 FY2027 company-reported operating snapshot, and management’s stated capacity and capex roadmap. You cannot establish a current valuation, a peer-relative ranking, a future return or a buy/sell verdict without a reliable date-stamped price and comparable figures. Make those items explicit in your worksheet, then decide only after the unresolved valuation work is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are JK Cement’s key FY2025-26 audited figures?
The audited consolidated filing for the year ended 31 March 2026 reports ₹13,722.30 crore of revenue from operations and ₹992.49 crore of profit attributable to owners. It also reports a 0.86 debt-equity ratio and 6.12 interest service coverage ratio. These are historical consolidated figures, not a forecast.
What did JK Cement report in Q1 FY2027?
The Q1 FY2027 investor presentation, reproduced by BazaarWatch, reports standalone grey-cement volume of 5.96 million tonnes, white-cement volume of 0.54 million tonnes, revenue of ₹3,866 crore and EBITDA of ₹639 crore. The reported year-on-year increases were 18%, 29%, 18% and 29%, respectively. Verify the original exchange attachment and do not treat one quarter as a full-year trend.
What expansion is JK Cement planning?
The presentation reports 32.3 MTPA of grey-cement capacity and a management roadmap to reach 50 MTPA by FY2030. It describes ₹5,000–6,000 crore of planned capex over two years and projects scheduled for H1 FY2028. These are targets; check approvals, spending, commissioning, utilisation and returns before assigning value.

Should I use standalone or consolidated results for valuation?
Use one basis consistently. Consolidated profit attributable to owners should be compared with consolidated peers and consolidated debt when calculating group valuation. If you use standalone figures, use standalone figures throughout and label the choice clearly.
Which costs matter most when analysing JK Cement?
Track power, fuel, freight, raw materials and packaging alongside tonnes sold, realisation per tonne and EBITDA per tonne. The cited filings do not provide a current numerical sensitivity for these costs, so use later disclosures to build scenarios rather than inserting unsupported percentages.
How can I test whether the expansion creates value?
Follow each project from approval through construction, commissioning and utilisation. Record actual cash spent, revised completion dates, added capacity, tonnes sold, incremental margin and operating cash flow. Compare the return from the new assets with their capital and financing cost.
Is JK Cement cheap or expensive at the current price?
A responsible answer requires a reliable, date-stamped NSE or BSE quote and same-date peer multiples. Those inputs are not established here, so the checklist does not support a cheap, expensive, buy or sell conclusion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat documents should I read before placing an order?
Use the latest audited annual report, quarterly result, investor presentation, exchange announcements, meeting outcomes and material-event notices. For every document, record its date, reporting period and standalone or consolidated basis, then reconcile management commentary with filed numbers.
The Bottom Line
Use the FY2026 filing as a historical anchor, the Q1 FY2027 figures as a snapshot to verify, and the 50 MTPA roadmap and ₹5,000–6,000 crore capex plan as execution hypotheses rather than promises. Do not place a valuation on JK Cement until you have a date-stamped price, consistent earnings denominator, current debt and cash data, and comparable peer figures. If any of those remain unresolved, the disciplined decision is to wait for evidence rather than manufacture a target.
