Before paying for an iPhone on Flipkart, verify the exact model and storage, whether it is new or pre-owned, the seller, the final checkout amount, delivery conditions, and the listing’s own return or replacement rules. If Open Box Delivery is offered, inspect the parcel with the delivery agent before accepting it. After delivery, retain the invoice and confirm the phone’s identity, condition, and applicable Apple coverage.
Why the exact Flipkart listing matters
Two iPhone listings can look similar while having different sellers, conditions, prices, delivery dates, and remedies. Flipkart says replacement guarantees depend on the seller’s policy and product category. 1. Confirm the phone’s identity
- Generation and model: Check the full model name, not just a photograph or a shortened headline. An apparently similar listing may be a different generation or regional configuration.
- Storage: Verify the capacity shown in the title, specifications and checkout summary. Storage is a permanent hardware difference and cannot be added later.
- Colour: Make sure the selected colour is the one shown in the order summary; colour variants can have separate inventory and sellers.
- Condition: Look for an explicit statement that the phone is new, refurbished or pre-owned. Never infer condition from product images, a low price, or the word “renewed” in a promotional banner unless the listing defines it.
2. Identify the seller and invoice details
Record the seller name and the invoice information shown on the listing. Seller identity matters because seller-specific policy can determine the available remedy. Check that the legal seller and tax or invoice details displayed at checkout are consistent with the order you intend to place.

- Exclusions for physical damage, missing accessories, activation or software issues.
- Whether the seller must approve the request or an authorised service centre must diagnose the fault.
- Any requirement to retain packaging, accessories, serial-number labels or delivery records.
Flipkart’s own explanation says the replacement guarantee is set by seller policy and product category. Treat the wording on the exact listing as decisive, and save a screenshot or PDF of it because a listing can change after purchase.
6. Look for Open Box Delivery
Open Box Delivery is not a universal iPhone service. Flipkart says it applies only to selected products and locations. If the option is not explicitly shown for your order, do not assume the courier will open the package or that you will receive an inspection-based acceptance choice.

Then identify which part of the reduction comes from a bank or card offer, which part depends on exchanging another device, and which part is available without a special condition. An exchange benefit is not a guaranteed saving until the old phone meets the stated requirements and the exchange process is completed. If you cannot meet an offer’s condition, compare the normal payable amount instead.
Do not compare a discounted price on one listing with the undiscounted price of another. What to do when the iPhone is delivered
If Open Box Delivery is shown on your order
Flipkart’s official Open Box Delivery guidance, dated October 6, 2026, describes the service as allowing the buyer to verify an order before accepting delivery and says it applies only to selected products. Keep the order page open and follow the delivery agent’s stated flow.
- Have the order details available before the parcel is handed over.
- In the agent’s presence, check that the package is addressed to you and that the external packaging does not show obvious tampering or severe damage.
- Open the package under the delivery procedure. Compare the phone’s model, storage and colour with the order. Check visible identity details such as the model information on the device or packaging.
- Confirm that the items listed for that package, such as the cable or other included accessories, are present.
- If the parcel is visibly damaged or contains the wrong product, use the reject or return process presented for that order before accepting it. Ask the agent to record the issue if the process provides a record.
Open-box inspection is an identity and visible-condition check, not a guarantee that every technical fault will be found. Flipkart’s returns explainer describes returns for Open Box Delivery orders as limited to manufacturing defects. Read the live order language because eligibility and procedures can vary.

If Open Box Delivery is not offered
Accept the parcel according to the normal delivery process, then preserve the outer packaging, labels and all accessories while you check the order. Photograph or record visible damage and the package identifiers before discarding anything. Do not claim that a courier was required to open a package when the order did not offer that service.
Checks immediately after acceptance
Verify the ordered device
Compare the phone you received with the order confirmation: model generation, storage, colour and condition. Confirm that the serial or identifying information on the invoice and device packaging is consistent where those details are provided. If the item is materially different, start the remedy shown on the order rather than relying on an informal promise.
Inspect physical condition and included items
Look for cracks, dents, bent frames, damaged ports, display defects and signs that seals or components have been disturbed. Check every accessory promised on the listing. Keep all packaging until the applicable return or replacement period has ended, because the listing may require it.
Test basic operation without altering evidence
Power on the phone, check that the display and touch response work, test the cameras, speakers, microphones, buttons, charging connection and cellular or Wi-Fi connection, and compare the storage shown in settings with the order. These checks can reveal an obvious defect, but they do not replace the listing’s formal return process or a service-centre diagnosis where required.

Do not discard labels, reset the phone repeatedly or hand it to an unauthorised repairer before contacting the seller or Flipkart if you find a mismatch or fault. First document what you found and follow the displayed route, because the listing may specify who must examine the device.
Warranty, marketplace remedy and Apple coverage are different
Do not treat a Flipkart replacement window as the same thing as a manufacturer warranty. Apple states that a new Apple-branded product has a one-year limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, separate from consumer-protection rights. That general statement does not establish the warranty start date or remaining coverage for the specific phone you receive.
After delivery, use Apple’s official coverage and support tools to check the actual unit. Keep the Flipkart invoice because proof of purchase may be needed to clarify coverage. If the listing is not new, do not assume the one-year statement applies unchanged; verify the device’s status instead.
AppleCare+ is optional additional coverage, not an automatic part of a Flipkart purchase. Its availability, eligibility, price and terms in India must be confirmed at the time you buy; do not add it to your calculation unless the current program accepts that device.

Extra checks for pre-owned or refurbished iPhones
A pre-owned listing needs a different inspection standard from a sealed new phone. Apple’s guidance recommends checking the seller’s reliability, return policy, battery health, physical condition and Parts and Service History where the model and software support those screens.
Battery health
Open the battery-health screen and record the capacity information shown. A used phone with a heavily worn battery can require an early replacement even if the handset otherwise works. The listing’s condition grade and remedy should determine whether the reported condition is acceptable to you.
Parts and Service History
Where available, review Parts and Service History in Settings. Note any component identified as replaced or not verified, and compare that information with the listing’s description. The absence of a displayed history on a particular model or software version is not, by itself, proof that no repair occurred.

Activation Lock
Do not buy or keep a pre-owned iPhone that remains linked to someone else’s account through Activation Lock. Inspect the display, frame, cameras, microphones, speakers, buttons, charging port, biometric functions and network connectivity. Check that the device can be erased and set up with your account. If the phone cannot be activated normally, stop using it and follow the listing’s stated return or replacement route.

- Is the phone genuinely new? Only the listing’s condition description and documentation answer that; photographs and promotional wording do not.
- Will the listed price be my price? Verify the checkout amount after removing any offer you cannot use.
- Can I inspect it at the door? Only when Open Box Delivery is explicitly attached to that order, product and location.
- What happens if it is wrong or damaged? Follow the reject process for an eligible Open Box Delivery parcel, or the normal remedy displayed on the order when that service is absent.
- Can Apple confirm coverage? Check the actual device after receipt; the general one-year statement is not a coverage lookup for a particular unit.
- What if it is used? Check battery information, Parts and Service History and Activation Lock before treating it as acceptable.
Records to save before and after purchase
- Product-page screenshots showing model, storage, condition, seller and policy wording.
- Checkout summary with the final price, delivery estimate and offer conditions.
- Order confirmation, invoice and seller information.
- Photos of the unopened parcel, labels and any visible damage.
- Photos or video of an incorrect item, missing accessory or obvious defect.
- Apple coverage results and any service-centre communication.
These records make it easier to show what was promised and when you reported a problem. Keep them until the listing’s remedy period and any active service case have ended.
