After a Disney Lorcana starter set, buy according to what you want to do next: choose a second playable deck (or a two-player starter) for immediate games, boosters for discovery or pack-based formats, and sleeves plus a deck box to protect cards you handle regularly. A playmat, portfolio, or collection bundle is optional. Because booster contents are random, packs are not a dependable way to obtain a complete deck or a specific card.
Start with your next activity, not the product name
A starter set already gives you a practical way to learn. Ravensburger’s official example describes a 60-card preconstructed deck, 11 game tokens, a rulebook, and one randomized 12-card booster, although contents can differ by set and release. See the current product details at Disney Lorcana’s official product page.
Use this decision table before spending more:
| Your goal | Best next purchase | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Play with another person immediately | A second playable deck or a two-player starter product | A random pack may not contain a coherent, compatible deck. |
| Open cards and expand a collection | Boosters from a set you actually like | Every pack is randomized; do not expect a particular character, rarity, or upgrade. |
| Play Pack Rush | Two boosters per player or activity, as specified by the official format guidance | Confirm the organizer’s rules before buying. |
| Build a Sealed deck | Six boosters per player | The event may define additional deck-building details. |
| Protect a deck you use often | Standard-size sleeves and a deck box | Check the box’s capacity for sleeved cards. |
| Organize a growing collection | A portfolio or storage box | Check capacity and whether oversized cards need a dedicated slot. |
If you want someone else to play with you
Buy another ready-to-play deck
A second preconstructed deck is the most predictable way to get a playable match. You know you are buying a complete deck rather than hoping several random packs happen to provide enough cards, a legal ink combination, and a sensible curve. Pick a deck with a different style from the one you own if you want the matchup to feel varied; the listing should identify the set and deck contents.
Consider the announced two-player starter
Ravensburger’s December 15, 2025 announcement described a two-player product containing two prebuilt 60-card decks, two lore trackers, and 13 paper tokens. It announced a May 8, 2026 release and a $29.99 U.S. MSRP. Those are announcement details, not a guarantee of today’s price, inventory, or availability. Check the official announcement and the current retailer listing before purchasing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
This format is especially useful when the other player has no cards: both people can begin from the same box without deck construction. If the two-player set is unavailable in your area, two individual starter decks solve the same practical problem, though their prices and contents will vary.
When boosters are the right next step
What a booster can and cannot do
Boosters are for discovery, collection growth, customizing decks over time, and formats that are intentionally built around opening packs. Their contents are randomized. A pack therefore cannot promise a particular character, rarity, ink color, card count for a deck, or financial value. If you need one specific card, buying or trading for that card is more certain than opening packs.
Choose the set first. Set theme, artwork, mechanics, and the cards already in your starter deck should matter more than a vague expectation that any newer pack will improve your list. Keep the wrapper or record the set if you plan to sort or trade cards later.
Buy packs for Pack Rush or Sealed only after confirming the format
Ravensburger’s Ways to Play page lists two boosters for Pack Rush and six boosters for Sealed Deck. Those quantities are format guidance, not a universal shopping rule. Ask the event organizer whether packs are supplied, which set is allowed, and whether each player needs exactly that number.
Pack Rush is a quick, pack-driven activity, while Sealed requires more product and on-the-spot deck building. Buying six packs for casual opening is fine, but do not describe that purchase as a guaranteed 40-card competitive deck: the cards and playability depend on what is opened and on the event’s rules.

Products that combine cards and accessories
Illumineer’s Trove
The Wilds Unknown product page describes an Illumineer’s Trove with eight booster packs, one storage box, one lore counter, and six damage dice. It can make sense when you want both packs and the included supplies. Compare its contents with the cost of buying only the number of boosters you want plus a separate box; otherwise, you may pay for accessories you will not use.
Collection-focused bundles
Ravensburger’s 2026 announcement described a Collection Starter Set containing four boosters, a portfolio, a guide, and a promo card. It also described a Scrooge McDuck Gift Box with cards, storage, a promo card, and five boosters. These products favor collecting and presentation over obtaining a known, playable deck. A bundle is worthwhile only when its specific cards, storage, or portfolio match your plan.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe official U.S. retailer page for the Collection Starter Set lists Amazon, Best Buy, Books-A-Million, and Target, but that listing is product-specific and can change. Check the current retailer page for region, stock, language, and seller details rather than assuming the same stores carry every Lorcana product.
Accessories: what you actually need
Sleeves
Sleeves are the most practical upgrade when cards are shuffled, played on shared tables, or carried in a bag. Use sleeves made for standard trading cards and make sure every card in a deck has the same back and finish if you intend to play it. Sleeves add thickness, so a deck that fits a bare-card box may not fit once sleeved.
Deck box
A deck box keeps a playable deck together and reduces edge and surface wear during transport. Capacity claims are product-specific. For example, the official First Chapter page says its described deck box holds up to 80 sleeved cards; that does not establish the capacity of every Lorcana box. Leave room for sleeves, tokens, and side materials, and verify the internal dimensions on the individual listing.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Playmat
A playmat is optional. It provides a defined surface, makes cards easier to pick up, and can help separate your play area from a table shared with other games. It does not change the rules or make a deck legal. Prioritize sleeves and a box if your budget covers only one accessory category.
Portfolio or storage box
Use a portfolio for cards you want to display, sort, or carry without repeatedly shuffling them. The described official portfolio holds 64 standard cards plus eight oversized cards. Treat that as the capacity of that product, not a universal Lorcana specification. A storage box is more flexible for duplicates, bulk cards, and cards still waiting to be sorted. Check whether its dividers and compartments fit sleeved cards.
How to buy without wasting money
- Decide whether the next session is a game, an opening session, or an event. A game calls for a known deck; an opening session calls for boosters; an event determines the pack count.
- Check the product’s exact set and language. Product details can differ by set, release, language, and region.
- Separate guaranteed contents from random contents. List the decks, tokens, counters, promos, and accessories that are explicitly included; treat boosters as unknown cards.
- Measure your storage need. Count sleeved cards and oversized cards before choosing a box or portfolio.
- Check current price and stock at purchase time. Announced MSRP and release dates do not establish current retail pricing or inventory.
- If the purchase is for an event, verify its rules with the organizer. Confirm pack quantity, set eligibility, supplied product, registration, and start time.
Competitive play: check legality before buying cards
For Core Constructed, card legality changes with rotation. Before buying a deck or singles for a tournament, consult the current rules, set notes, and banned-card information in Ravensburger’s Disney Lorcana TCG Resources. A deck that was legal when a set released may not remain legal after rotation.
The official format guidance distinguishes Core from Infinity: Core follows rotation rules, while Infinity allows cards regardless of rotation. Do not assume a card is legal merely because it is genuine or appears in a starter deck. Confirm the event’s named format and current list first.
If you are new to organized play, a local game store and Ravensburger’s Play Hub are useful places to find event information. Availability is local and changes quickly. The Hyperia City guide published October 8, 2026 says prerelease events there are scheduled to begin October 16, 2026; that date applies to that event guidance, not to every store or a general requirement to buy a prerelease box.

Common mistakes and fixes
“I’ll upgrade my starter deck with a few random packs.”
Problem: You may open cards that do not fit the deck’s ink combination or strategy.
Fix: Buy boosters for the enjoyment of discovery, then trade or obtain specific cards when you know which changes the deck needs. For a guaranteed playable experience, choose another preconstructed deck instead.
“One deck is enough for two players.”
Problem: A single deck is not a complete second setup.
Fix: Get another playable deck or the two-player starter product, then confirm that both players have the necessary tokens or trackers.
“Any box will hold my sleeved deck.”
Problem: Sleeves increase thickness and some boxes are sized only for unsleeved cards.

A simple buying plan by budget and priority
Minimum spend for more play
Choose one additional ready-to-play deck. Add sleeves only if the cards will be used frequently or transported. This gives you a second game setup without paying for randomized cards.
Moderate spend for play and discovery
Choose a second playable deck, then add a small number of boosters from a set you enjoy. Keep the deck purchase and the pack-opening purchase conceptually separate: the deck supplies certainty, while the boosters supply variety.
Collection-first spend
Choose a collection bundle only after checking every included item. A portfolio, promo card, storage, and four or five boosters may be useful together, but a bundle is not automatically better value than selecting those items individually. For a larger collection, prioritize storage capacity and a sorting system over decorative extras.
Event-first spend
Confirm the format and organizer’s instructions, then buy only the stated number of packs. Pack Rush guidance calls for two boosters; Sealed guidance calls for six per player. Do not buy an event product solely because it is labeled “prerelease” unless you are attending the associated event and understand its rules.

For most starter-set owners, the next purchase should be a second playable deck if another person is waiting to play, or a few boosters if opening cards is the main appeal. Sleeves and a deck box are the first useful accessories for regular play; playmats, portfolios, Troves, and collection bundles should follow your storage and collecting habits. Check current product availability, local event rules, and Core legality before paying, because announced dates, MSRP, capacities, and format requirements are not interchangeable across products or regions.
