The Camera in ARC Raiders is an in-game Quick Use gadget for taking objective photographs and selfies. You need one when a quest or project explicitly requests a photo; you do not need to buy or connect a real-world camera. For the current Sizing Things Up quest, use the Basic Camera on the lower part of the fallen Emperor’s leg from the bridge directly east of Old Town.
Celeste gives you a Basic Camera when you accept Sizing Things Up, but you can also scavenge one, craft one, or purchase one from Shani. The Advanced Camera is a rarer alternative, although its documented description does not explain what its additional capability is.
What the Camera does
The Basic Camera is an Uncommon gadget in the Quick Use category. Its established functions are taking pictures and taking selfies. It is not a weapon, scanner, binocular, or general-purpose combat tool. Equip it only when you need to satisfy a photo objective or want to take an optional in-game picture.

Photo objectives are normally tied to a quest or project. The game checks the picture against the active objective, so carrying a Camera does not automatically complete anything. Make sure the relevant task is selected before you spend time lining up a shot.

The Advanced Camera is a Rare Quick Use gadget. Its item description says it can do everything the Basic Camera can do “and more,” but the documented reference does not identify that extra function. There is no reliable basis for assuming that it provides zoom, better image quality, combat information, or any other specific advantage. Treat it as a different acquisition option until the current in-game description gives you a concrete reason to choose it.

Prices and recipes are in-game item values, not real-money prices. Shani’s “three listed per day” is a stock limit for the trader listing, not a promise that every player will see unlimited copies.
How to get a Basic Camera
Accept a quest that grants one
The most convenient route is to accept Sizing Things Up. Celeste grants a Basic Camera for that quest. The quest’s acceptance dialogue is: “Do some reconnaissance around that fallen Emperor, see that you stay safe.” The quest also appears in the documented rewards for Taking Stock. If you have just accepted one of these quests, inspect your inventory before crafting or spending coins.
Buy one from Shani
Shani lists the Basic Camera for 1,920 coins, with three copies listed per day. This is the fastest predictable option when you have the currency and the trader still has stock. If the listing is exhausted, use the crafting or scavenging route rather than repeatedly checking the same inventory until the next refresh.

Craft one at Workbench 1
The listed recipe at Workbench 1 is:
- 8 Plastic Parts
- 1 Wire
This is useful when materials are plentiful but Shani’s stock is unavailable. Confirm that the item is the Basic Camera recipe; the Advanced Camera uses a different station and different components.
Scavenge one
A Basic Camera can also be found while scavenging. This route costs no coins and does not require the Workbench recipe, but it depends on what you find during runs. If a photo objective is urgent, quest reward, purchase, or crafting is more controllable than waiting for a random discovery.
How to get an Advanced Camera
Purchase from Shani
Shani’s listed price for the Advanced Camera is 3,000 coins, and the listing shows three available per day. The higher price reflects the item’s Rare classification, but rarity alone does not tell you what the undocumented extra function does.

Because the blueprint must be learned first, this is not an immediate substitute for the Basic Camera on a newly accepted photo quest. Check your station’s current recipe and blueprint status before committing materials.
Claim it through the Free Reward Pass
The Advanced Camera is also listed as a Free Reward Pass item. The pass route depends on your current progression, so it may be available without paying Shani or gathering the crafting components.
Using the Camera for Sizing Things Up
Sizing Things Up is the clearest example of when the Camera matters. The objective is to photograph the fallen Emperor’s leg. A walkthrough published on 8 October 2026 places the required viewpoint at the bridge directly east of Old Town and specifies the lower portion of the leg.
- Accept the quest and check your backpack. Celeste grants a Basic Camera. If it is already present, do not buy or craft another one.
- Set Sizing Things Up as the active objective. An unrelated quest marker will not validate the photograph.
- Travel to the bridge east of Old Town. The required spot is on the bridge directly east of the settlement, not an arbitrary location elsewhere on the map.
- Find the fallen Emperor. Use the objective marker and the surrounding landmark to identify the correct structure.
- Equip the Basic Camera in a Quick Use slot. The exact button depends on your platform and custom keybinds; follow the control prompt shown by your current game installation rather than assuming a universal key.
- Frame the lower leg. Aim at the lower portion of the Emperor’s leg, as specified by the objective. A shot of the upper body, the bridge, or a distant silhouette may not count.
- Take the picture and verify the objective update. Stay in the area until the quest tracker confirms the photo. If it does not, reposition and retake the image instead of leaving immediately.
The Camera is a quest tool here, not a piece of equipment you need to use in combat. Once the objective registers, you can switch back to your normal Quick Use item.

Other situations that require a Camera
The 8 October 2026 “Frozen Trail – 2.0 Update” summary lists additional photo-related objectives. These include the Outpost unlock project, which asks for a farmland-house photo, and photo objectives associated with Battening Down, Groundbreaking, Life of a Pharmacist, Reduced to Rubble, and The League.
The available summary does not specify every location, angle, or control sequence for those tasks. Use the currently active objective, map marker, and on-screen instructions for each one. Quest behavior can change with updates, so do not assume that the Old Town bridge position from Sizing Things Up applies to another project.
Controls and practical handling
The documented item references establish what the gadgets do and how to obtain them, but they do not provide a universal keyboard, controller, or console-button layout. ARC Raiders players can use different platforms and custom bindings, so the reliable procedure is to assign the Camera to a Quick Use slot and follow the interaction prompt displayed by the game.

- Confirm that the photo quest is active before taking the shot.
- Watch the objective tracker for confirmation after the shutter action.
- Keep a Basic Camera available if you are pursuing several projects that request photos.
- Do not assume that a selfie or an attractive landscape image satisfies a location-specific objective.
Camera troubleshooting
The quest says to take a photo, but no Camera is visible
Open the carried-inventory view and check whether Celeste’s quest reward was added. If you accepted Sizing Things Up or Taking Stock earlier, you may already have the gadget. If it is missing, obtain another Basic Camera by crafting it at Workbench 1, buying it from Shani, or scavenging one.

The picture does not register at the Emperor
Return to the bridge directly east of Old Town, verify that Sizing Things Up is active, and aim at the lower leg rather than the general Emperor landmark. Take another picture while watching the quest tracker. A photo taken from the wrong side of the area or aimed at a different body section may not meet the objective’s recognition conditions.
Shani has no Camera in stock
Shani’s listing is limited to three copies per day for each Camera type. If the daily listing is empty, use the Basic Camera recipe, search while scavenging, or wait for the next trader refresh. For the Advanced Camera, crafting requires the learned blueprint and the Utility Station 1 components, so confirm those prerequisites before planning around that route.
You are considering the Advanced Camera for a specific advantage
Do not spend 3,000 coins or rare components solely because the item is labeled Advanced. The documented description confirms that it performs the Basic Camera’s functions and “more,” but it does not define the additional feature. Check the live item description and current patch notes before treating it as a functional upgrade for a particular task.

Photo projects and quest conditions are patch-sensitive. If a marker, location, or wording differs from an older guide, follow the current in-game objective first. The update summary associated with “Frozen Trail – 2.0 Update” demonstrates that new photo objectives can be added across projects.
Which Camera should you carry?
For ordinary quest completion, the Basic Camera is the sensible default because it is explicitly documented to take the required pictures and is obtainable from a quest, Workbench 1, Shani, or scavenging. Choose the Advanced Camera only when you have a confirmed reason from the current game client or when its acquisition route is more convenient for your inventory and progression.

What you do not need
You do not need a physical camera, a phone connected to the game, a printed guide, or a special gaming accessory to complete an in-game photo objective. The Camera is an item represented inside ARC Raiders. The only practical requirements are the in-game gadget, the relevant active objective, and a valid viewpoint.
