Grand Theft Auto VI is officially announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of November 19, 2026. Rockstar’s current platform information does not list a PC version, and it publishes no official PC minimum or recommended system requirements. That is the complete confirmed answer as of October 13, 2026: console availability is announced; PC availability and PC hardware requirements remain unannounced in the official sources reviewed.

Rockstar also says pre-loading starts at local midnight on November 12, 2026. Physical retail copies are code-in-box editions containing a download code, not game discs.

Confirmed platforms and release date

Rockstar’s current Grand Theft Auto VI product information names two platforms:

Platform Official status Release information What the official sources establish
PlayStation 5 Announced November 19, 2026 Rockstar lists the PS5 edition and accepts pre-orders.
Xbox Series X|S Announced November 19, 2026 Rockstar lists the Xbox Series X|S edition and accepts pre-orders.
PC Not listed in the reviewed official platform information Not announced No PC release date, edition, or system requirements are provided.

Rockstar Newswire stated on August 6, 2026: “Grand Theft Auto VI is coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.” The official game page and Rockstar’s customer-support answer, last updated August 18, 2026, give the same two-platform listing. November 19 is therefore the announced launch date for the listed console editions, not a date that can be extended to an unannounced PC version.

The platform list should also be read literally. The reviewed pages do not name PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo hardware, or cloud services. Their absence is not proof that Rockstar can never add another version, but none of those versions is part of the current announcement.

When can you preload and play?

Rockstar’s support information says pre-loading begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. “Local midnight” means the start of November 12 according to the relevant console store or account region, rather than one universal worldwide clock. The game’s announced release date remains November 19.

This creates two practical dates for console buyers:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • November 12, 2026: pre-loading begins, and Rockstar expects physical code-in-box copies to be available for retailer shipping and pickup.
  • November 19, 2026: the announced release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Pre-loading lets a console download the game before launch, but it does not change the release date. A pre-loaded installation is still subject to the platform’s launch-time access rules.

The two dates serve different purposes. A digital pre-order can begin downloading when the platform enables pre-loading, while a boxed code may require you to receive the package, reveal the code, and redeem it before the download starts. Retailer delivery timing is separate from Rockstar’s launch timing, so an order that ships on November 12 is not necessarily playable before November 19.

What is included in the physical edition?

Rockstar describes the physical version as a download code in a box. It contains no game disc. The code is redeemed through the relevant platform’s digital-download system, so a physical purchase does not provide an offline disc installation.

This distinction matters when choosing between a boxed copy and a digital pre-order:

  • A boxed edition gives you a retail package, but the actual game data is downloaded.
  • You should have sufficient console storage and a reliable connection for the download; the box itself does not contain the installable game data.
  • Code redemption, account eligibility, and regional restrictions are controlled by the platform and country.
  • A code intended for one region may not work with an account registered in another region.
  • A code-in-box purchase still depends on the platform account used to redeem it; it is not a transferable disc that can be installed independently of an account.

Before buying a code-in-box edition, check the region printed by the retailer and make sure it matches the country or region of the PlayStation Network or Xbox account that will redeem it. Rockstar specifically warns that code redemption and restrictions vary by platform and country.

Rockstar says physical copies are expected to be available for shipping and pickup from retailers beginning November 12, 2026. That is an expected availability date, not a guarantee of inventory at every store. Stock, delivery schedules, return rules, and the exact code region can differ by retailer.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

No PC version is currently listed in the official platform information reviewed as of October 13, 2026. Rockstar’s support page and Grand Theft Auto VI product page list PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. They do not announce a PC edition, PC release window, or PC pre-order.

The careful wording is “not officially announced in the current information,” not “a PC version will never exist.” Rockstar could publish a later platform announcement. Until it does, a PC launch date should not be presented as fact.

This status also means that a person who owns only a Windows gaming computer has no confirmed version to buy on the announced November 19 date. The official materials do not provide a PC store listing or a way to pre-order a PC edition.

A later PC announcement could arrive after the console launch, but nothing in the current pages establishes a schedule, a simultaneous release, cross-play support, save transfer, or a PC storefront. Those details should be treated as unanswered rather than filled in from assumptions about earlier Grand Theft Auto releases.

What are the GTA 6 PC system requirements?

There are no official Grand Theft Auto VI PC minimum or recommended requirements in the reviewed Rockstar sources. No processor, graphics card, memory, storage, operating-system version, DirectX level, display target, or benchmark result is published.

Do not treat any of the following as GTA 6 requirements:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Requirements for Grand Theft Auto V or another Rockstar PC release.
  • Hardware lists based on rumors, leaked specifications, or forum predictions.
  • Guesses derived from trailers, console hardware, or an assumed game engine configuration.
  • Requirements copied from an unofficial retailer page before Rockstar posts a PC product listing.

Those figures might eventually prove close to the final requirements, but they are not confirmed evidence. Publishing them as minimum or recommended specifications would mislead readers into thinking Rockstar has tested or approved that hardware.

Rank #3
Grand Theft Auto V - NL (PS3)
  • GTA 5 SUR PS3 / TAKE TWO - ROCKSTAR GAME

When Rockstar eventually announces a PC edition, look for a dated official store or support page that separates minimum and recommended configurations. A useful requirements announcement should identify the operating system, CPU, GPU, memory, storage capacity, graphics API, and any resolution or frame-rate assumptions. None of those details can be supplied accurately today.

Do not buy a new graphics card or build a computer specifically on the basis of an alleged GTA 6 specification list. Without an official PC edition, there is no confirmed target to match and no Rockstar benchmark showing how a particular component performs. A retailer’s “ready for GTA 6” label is marketing, not a published requirement.

Choosing between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Both announced console families are official launch platforms. The available Rockstar material does not include comparative tests for resolution, frame rate, loading time, image quality, or feature differences, so there is no evidence-based basis for claiming that one runs GTA 6 better.

The practical decision is therefore about the console ecosystem you already use:

Choose PlayStation 5 if

  • You already own a PlayStation 5 and want to keep the purchase and game library in that account ecosystem.
  • Your preferred multiplayer contacts, accessories, or subscription arrangements are on PlayStation.
  • You want the PS5 edition specifically, subject to the retailer’s regional code terms for a boxed purchase.

Choose Xbox Series X|S if

  • You already own an Xbox Series X or Series S and want to remain in the Xbox account ecosystem.
  • Your household or multiplayer group uses Xbox services.
  • You prefer the Xbox edition and its associated store region.

The official pages do not establish feature parity details beyond both platforms being announced. Do not infer a resolution or performance advantage from the names of the consoles or from marketing language such as “plays best on”; that wording is not a published comparative test.

There is also no official information here about a special enhanced mode for Series X versus Series S, or about differences between PS5 hardware revisions. Until Rockstar publishes technical details, buyers should choose the console they already own or the ecosystem that best fits their household rather than paying a premium based on speculation.

Console buying and pre-order checklist

Use this checklist before placing an order:

  1. Confirm the hardware. Verify that the listing is for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. A listing for an older console is not supported by Rockstar’s current platform announcement.
  2. Check the edition type. If it is described as physical, confirm that it is a code-in-box product and not a disc edition.
  3. Check the region. Match the code’s country or region to the platform account that will redeem it.
  4. Record the two dates. Pre-loading starts at local midnight on November 12; the announced release date is November 19.
  5. Plan for a download. Because the box contains a code, arrange the console’s internet access and enough available storage for the digital installation.
  6. Use an official or clearly authorized retailer. Rockstar’s information confirms expected shipping and pickup availability for physical code-in-box copies from November 12, but stock, pricing, and retailer policies can differ.
  7. Keep the redemption account in mind. The code will be tied to the platform account and region that accepts it, so do not assume it can be moved later to another account or country.

If a product page promises a disc, a PC key, or an older-console edition, compare that claim against Rockstar’s current platform information before paying. The official description of the physical product is a download code with no disc.

How to track a future PC announcement

A genuine PC announcement should change Rockstar’s own platform information, not merely appear in a rumor or retailer listing. Check these items when evaluating a new claim:

  • Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI product page adds PC to the platform list.
  • Rockstar Newswire publishes a dated announcement naming PC and, ideally, a release date.
  • Rockstar Customer Support adds a PC-specific platform answer or requirements page.
  • An official PC storefront page identifies the edition, account requirements, and supported operating system.
  • Minimum and recommended specifications are published directly by Rockstar rather than inferred by a third party.

Until those changes occur, the responsible answer remains that PC availability and requirements are unannounced. Re-check the official pages close to launch because platform information can change after the current October 13, 2026 snapshot.

When checking a claim, distinguish a real platform announcement from a storefront placeholder. A listing should identify Rockstar as the publisher, name the supported operating system, and link back to an official product or support page. Screenshots, leaked spreadsheets, and social-media posts can circulate long before Rockstar confirms anything and should not be used to set a buying budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will GTA 6 launch on PC on November 19, 2026?

Rockstar has announced November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its official platform pages reviewed as of October 13, 2026 do not list a PC version or PC release date, so the console date should not be presented as a PC launch date.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What PC specs do I need for GTA 6?

None are official yet. Rockstar has not published minimum or recommended CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, operating-system, graphics API, resolution, or frame-rate requirements. Do not rely on GTA V specifications, rumors, or retailer guesses.

Is the physical GTA 6 edition a disc?

No. Rockstar describes the physical edition as a download code in a box with no disc. You will redeem the code through the relevant PlayStation or Xbox store and download the game.

When does GTA 6 pre-loading start?

Rockstar says pre-loading begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. Pre-loading does not unlock the game early; the announced console release remains November 19.

Can I use a boxed code in another country?

Check the code region before buying. Rockstar says redemption rules and regional restrictions vary by platform and country, and a code may not work with an account registered in a different region.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which is better for GTA 6, PS5 or Xbox Series X|S?

Both are announced platforms, but Rockstar has not published comparative resolution, frame-rate, loading-time, or feature tests. Choose based on the console and account ecosystem you already use rather than an unverified performance claim.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Grand Theft Auto VI is officially announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, with pre-loading from local midnight on November 12. Physical copies are code-in-box products with no disc. As of October 13, 2026, Rockstar has announced neither a PC version nor any PC system requirements, so treat every PC date or hardware list as unconfirmed until Rockstar updates its own pages.
