For Tirumala darshan, the safest approach is simple: identify your darshan category, wear the traditional clothing listed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), and enter the queue only at the time printed on your SSD token or ₹300 Special Entry Darshan (SED) ticket. Sarva Darshan is free, but its operating hours change by day, so pilgrims should check TTD’s current weekly programme and announcements before travelling.
The rules below separate what applies to everyone from what applies only to a particular route or ticket. That distinction matters: a slot-time announcement for SSD and ₹300 SED does not automatically establish the same entry procedure for every form of darshan.
The essential Tirumala darshan rules at a glance
- Dress: Men should wear a dhoti or pyjamas with an upper cloth. Women should wear a saree or half-saree with blouse, or a churidar with pyjama and upper cloth.
- Dress-code coverage: TTD says these clothing requirements apply to Arjitha Sevas, VIP break darshan, and general pilgrims using ₹300 and ₹50 darshan.
- SSD and ₹300 SED entry: Under a TTD announcement dated 10 March 2026, holders may enter the queue line only at the allotted time shown on their token or ticket. Early and late arrivals are not admitted under that announcement.
- Sarva Darshan: This is free darshan through Vaikuntham Queue Complex II. The hours vary by day.
- Waiting facilities: TTD’s Sarva Darshan overview lists free Annaprasadam, drinks at three-hour intervals, medical facilities, toilets and filtered water.
- Conduct: Follow temple procedures, wait your turn, avoid touts and do not wear footwear in and around the temple premises.
These are operational rules, not guarantees of a particular waiting time or darshan duration. Ticket availability, festival arrangements and exceptional category instructions can change, so the current TTD notice for your travel date takes precedence.
Which darshan route are you using?
Your route determines whether you have a fixed queue-entry appointment and which TTD instructions you must follow. The practical differences established by TTD are summarized here.

| Route or ticket | Cost information stated by TTD | Timing or entry rule | What is established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sarva Darshan | Free | Hours vary by day; consult the weekly temple programme | Entry is through Vaikuntham Queue Complex II |
| SSD token | Token category; the cited announcement does not state a price | Enter the queue line only at the allotted time on the token | The 10 March 2026 announcement says early or late arrivals are not admitted |
| ₹300 Special Entry Darshan ticket | ₹300 category | Enter only at the allotted time printed on the ticket | The same 10 March 2026 announcement covers this ticket category |
| ₹50 darshan | ₹50 category named in TTD’s dress-code guidance | Not stated in the cited material | The listed traditional dress applies to general pilgrims using this category |
Do not treat the table as a substitute for your ticket or token. If the document issued to you gives a different instruction, follow that document and the latest TTD announcement for your date.
Sarva Darshan: free entry with a changing schedule
TTD describes Sarva Darshan as free darshan and directs pilgrims to Vaikuntham Queue Complex II. TTD does not present one permanent daily time range in the material used here; instead, it says timings differ by day and points pilgrims to the weekly temple programme. Check that programme close to departure rather than relying on a time remembered from a previous visit.
SSD tokens and ₹300 SED tickets: the printed slot controls entry
The 10 March 2026 TTD announcement is explicit for these two categories: the ticket or token determines the individual queue-entry time. A pilgrim who comes before the allotted time is not admitted to the queue line, and a pilgrim who arrives after it is also not admitted under that announcement. This is why an early arrival is not a safe substitute for reading the slot carefully.

TTD says its traditional dress code was introduced in 2013, first for Arjitha Sevas, and later extended to VIP pilgrims seeking break darshan and general pilgrims seeking ₹300 and ₹50 darshan. The current options displayed by TTD are specific enough to plan from, but they do not create a requirement for a particular colour, brand or style.

Men
Wear a dhoti or pyjamas with an upper cloth. Pack the complete combination rather than assuming that trousers or a shirt will be accepted for a category covered by the dress code. TTD’s wording identifies the garment types; it does not specify a mandatory colour or commercial brand.
Women
TTD lists either a saree or half-saree with blouse, or a churidar with pyjama and upper cloth. Choose one complete option that is comfortable for standing and walking while still matching the listed form of dress.
Who should plan for the traditional dress?
The page’s scope includes Arjitha Sevas, VIP break darshan, and general pilgrims using ₹300 and ₹50 darshan. If your booking is for another category, read the category-specific TTD instruction instead of assuming that one page covers every possible arrangement.

A practical clothing checklist
- Pack the upper cloth required for the men’s or women’s option you selected.
- Carry a clean change of the same type of traditional clothing if your journey is long or weather is uncertain.
- Do not rely on a remembered rule about colours, footwear or accessories; TTD’s displayed dress guidance does not establish those details.
- Keep the clothing accessible so you are not searching for it immediately before queue entry.
How to plan entry around your assigned time
For an SSD token or ₹300 SED ticket, read the date, category and allotted time directly from the booking document. The 10 March 2026 announcement does not authorize a universal early-arrival buffer, and it does not say that a late arrival can be moved automatically to another slot.

- Check the document before leaving: Confirm that you are looking at the correct pilgrim’s token or ticket and note the exact allotted time.
- Plan the journey to the designated queue area: Allow for your transport and the time needed to put on compliant clothing, but do not interpret that preparation time as permission to join the line early.
- Reach the queue-entry point for the stated slot: Present yourself at the time assigned to your ticket or token.
- Do not attempt an unscheduled entry: Under the cited announcement, arriving early or late results in no admission to the queue line.
- Recheck for changes: TTD can issue later announcements for special arrangements, festivals or operational changes. Use the latest notice applicable to your visit.
For Sarva Darshan, use the current weekly temple programme because the operating hours vary by day. Sarva Darshan is not described in the cited material as having the same individual slot rule established for SSD and ₹300 SED.
What to expect while waiting for Sarva Darshan
TTD’s Sarva Darshan overview identifies Vaikuntham Queue Complex II as the entry route and lists several services intended for pilgrims in the waiting area:
- Food: Free Annaprasadam.
- Drinks: Drinks provided at three-hour intervals.
- Health support: Free medical facilities.
- Basic amenities: Toilets and filtered water.
These facilities can make a long wait more manageable, but their existence is not a promise of a particular queue length, waiting period or darshan time. Keep personal essentials with you and follow instructions from TTD staff inside the complex.
Conduct and items that need special attention
Follow the temple procedure and wait your turn
TTD asks pilgrims to follow temple procedures and wait their turn. Queue discipline is part of the entry process; attempting to bypass the line can create a problem for you and for other pilgrims.

Avoid touts
TTD’s official “Do’s and Don’ts” guidance states: Don’t Approach touts for accommodation and darshan.
Treat unsolicited offers to obtain accommodation or darshan as a warning sign and use official TTD channels for current instructions.
Footwear
TTD advises pilgrims not to wear footwear in and around the temple premises. Plan where you will leave or store footwear according to the arrangements available at the site, and follow staff directions rather than carrying assumptions from another temple.
Smoking and intoxicants
The conduct guidance includes restrictions or cautions concerning intoxicants and smoking. Do not bring these activities into the pilgrimage plan, and follow the full current TTD list for any related restriction that applies to your situation.

Weapons and ammunition
Weapons or ammunition require particular care. TTD instructs pilgrims carrying licensed weapons to declare them at the Alipiri checkpoint. Do not conceal such an item or assume that a licence alone removes the declaration requirement.

- Identify the route: Decide whether your document is for Sarva Darshan, an SSD token, ₹300 SED or another category.
- Read the current TTD schedule: For Sarva Darshan, check the weekly programme because the hours vary by day.
- Read the ticket or token: For SSD and ₹300 SED, record the allotted queue-entry time exactly as printed.
- Prepare the listed clothing: Men need dhoti or pyjamas with upper cloth; women need a saree or half-saree with blouse, or churidar with pyjama and upper cloth, where the stated dress code applies.
- Remove avoidable problems: Do not plan to wear footwear in and around the temple premises, approach touts, smoke or use intoxicants.
- Handle special items correctly: If carrying a licensed weapon, declare it at Alipiri as TTD instructs. Check the latest conduct guidance for flowers or head guards.
- Follow on-site directions: Wait your turn and comply with instructions from temple personnel, even if a previous visit followed a different arrangement.
Common mistakes and how to prevent them
Arriving early for a fixed slot
Mistake: Assuming that arriving hours early guarantees a place in the line. Prevention: For SSD and ₹300 SED, use the allotted time on the token or ticket; the cited announcement says early entry is not admitted.
Arriving late and expecting automatic transfer
Mistake: Treating a missed slot as transferable to the next available queue. Prevention: The announcement says late arrivals are not admitted under its stated rule. Check TTD for any specific remedy rather than assuming one.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWearing clothing that does not match the listed option
Mistake: Packing only everyday clothing when the booking falls within the stated dress-code categories. Prevention: Pack the complete traditional combination, including the upper cloth where TTD lists it.
Using an old Sarva Darshan timetable
Mistake: Treating a previous day’s or previous visit’s hours as permanent. Prevention: Consult the current weekly temple programme.
Buying help from an unofficial intermediary
Mistake: Trusting a tout who promises accommodation or darshan. Prevention: Follow TTD’s warning and use official information and your own valid ticket or token.
What can change before your journey
Current ticket inventory, available slots, festival schedules and exceptional category rules are volatile. The clothing options and the slot-entry rule described above come from TTD’s published pages and the 10 March 2026 announcement, but a later TTD notice can supersede them for a particular date or category. Check the latest TTD schedule, announcements, dress guidance and conduct guidance immediately before travel.
