The Evercade Nexus is a cartridge-based handheld from Blaze Entertainment. It is designed for the wider Evercade library rather than arbitrary ROM files or digital downloads. At announcement, Blaze said it supported more than 80 released Evercade cartridges representing more than 700 games.
The standard bundle includes the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack, with Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. The reported launch date is 30 October 2026; as of 13 October 2026, the system remained unreleased, so the final title-by-title compatibility picture and independent long-term testing were not yet available.
What the Evercade Nexus is
Nexus is a new handheld in the Evercade family built around physical game cartridges. You insert an Evercade cartridge into the console, select a title, and play it on the handheld’s own screen. Its purpose is to make the existing Evercade collection portable in a more capable form, not to serve as a general-purpose emulation device that accepts files from other systems.
Blaze Entertainment’s launch announcement describes Nexus as compatible with more than 80 released Evercade cartridges and more than 700 games. Those figures are announcement totals, so they should be read as the size of the supported Evercade ecosystem at that point, not as a promise that every future cartridge will automatically work or that every title is sold in every country.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The hardware is aimed at both classic 2D games and newer Evercade releases that benefit from a larger display, twin-stick controls, or a more modern handheld layout. A textured rear grip, analogue controls, and wireless features distinguish it from a basic cartridge reader.
Which games can the Nexus play?
The broader Evercade cartridge catalogue
The short answer is that Nexus is announced to play the wider Evercade cartridge library: over 80 cartridges containing more than 700 games. Cartridges are sold as publisher, platform, franchise, or theme collections, so one cartridge can contain multiple games rather than a single title.
The launch material names collections associated with Activision and Taito, Rare games, and franchise collections including TOMB RAIDER, DUKE NUKEM, and LEGACY OF KAIN. These are examples of the catalogue, not a complete list. The announcement does not provide a definitive title-by-title compatibility table, and it does not establish that every older game uses every Nexus control.

What “compatible” means in practice
Compatibility means using an original Evercade cartridge in the Nexus cartridge slot. It does not mean that the handheld accepts arbitrary ROM files, cartridges from unrelated retro systems, or modern console software. If a game is not part of the Evercade cartridge ecosystem, the announcement provides no basis for assuming that Nexus will run it.
Older collections may retain their original control assumptions. A game designed for a D-pad may not gain useful analogue-stick support simply because Nexus has two sticks. Conversely, a newer or specially adapted release may offer a control scheme that makes better use of the handheld’s additional inputs.

Regional and future-library qualifications
The “80-plus cartridges” and “700-plus games” figures come from the launch announcement. They do not establish that every cartridge is available in every territory, that stock is constant, or that every cartridge released after the announcement is covered. Check the cartridge’s packaging and current compatibility information for a specific purchase, especially when buying an older release or a newly announced collection.
What games come with the standard Nexus?
Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack
The standard bundle includes the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack. It contains two originally 64-bit platform games:
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Tooie
This is a physical cartridge included with the console, not merely a download code. The same double-pack cartridge is also identified as a separately sold Evercade product, so buyers should distinguish the console bundle from a standalone cartridge listing.
Changes made for Nexus
The announcement highlights several adaptations for the two Banjo games:
- Widescreen support for the Nexus display.
- A camera revised for twin-stick play.
- Alternative controls that do not require analogue sticks.
- Unlockable material.
- Performance and graphical improvements.
These changes matter because the original games were built around older hardware and a different controller layout. Twin-stick camera control is an option for players who prefer modern movement and camera handling, while the alternative non-analogue scheme preserves a way to play without depending on both sticks.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
The announcement does not quantify a frame rate, resolution mode beyond the stated widescreen support, or the exact contents of the unlockable material. Those details should not be inferred from the original releases or from the general Nexus specification.

The following specifications are from Blaze Entertainment’s announcement as reproduced by WorthPlaying in 2026. They describe the announced hardware, not independent measurements.
| Feature | Announced specification or function | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 5.89-inch IPS panel, 840×512 resolution, rated above 500 nits | A larger, bright screen should make both pixel-art collections and widescreen adaptations easier to view, including in brighter rooms. |
| Controls | Dual analogue sticks, D-pad, face buttons, rear bumpers, and rear triggers | Supports traditional retro layouts and games adapted for twin-stick movement or camera control. |
| Grip | Textured rear grip | Provides a more secure hold during longer sessions or when using both analogue sticks. |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 6 for updates and wireless headphone support | Updates can be delivered over a modern wireless connection, while headphones can be used without a cable. |
| Charging | USB-C | Uses a current, reversible connector for charging. |
| Battery | 5,000 mAh, rated for more than five hours | The rating is a manufacturer estimate; actual endurance depends on brightness, wireless use, volume, and the game being played. |
| Vertical play | TATE mode | Lets supported vertical-orientation games use the screen in a portrait-style layout. |
The 840×512 panel has a 21:12 aspect ratio, so games that use widescreen support can take advantage of more horizontal space. Classic titles that were authored for narrower displays may still show borders or use a different presentation; the announcement does not specify the behavior of every cartridge.
How EverSync local multiplayer works
EverSync is Nexus’s local wireless multiplayer feature. It connects two Nexus consoles directly, without requiring internet access or a Wi-Fi network. One cartridge can be shared so that both players play on their own handheld screen.
- Insert the compatible cartridge into one Nexus.
- Turn on both Nexus consoles and open the EverSync-compatible multiplayer option.
- Pair the two consoles directly through the on-screen wireless process.
- Start the multiplayer session and play with each person viewing their own screen.
A second Nexus is required. EverSync is therefore different from a two-player mode on one handheld: it is designed for two consoles, while the cartridge-sharing feature means a second copy of the game cartridge is not necessarily required for the session. The announcement does not state that every cartridge supports EverSync, so multiplayer support remains title-dependent.

What is included, and what is optional?
Standard bundle
The standard Nexus package includes the handheld and the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack cartridge. The available announcement information does not establish a full in-box inventory for items such as a charger, cable length, printed manuals, or regional packaging, so those details should be confirmed in the listing for the market where you buy.
Optional accessories
An official EVA carry case and an official screen protector kit are named as optional accessories rather than standard inclusions. The EVA case is designed to hold six cartridges, which is useful if you intend to carry a small rotating library instead of transporting loose cartridges.
Standard Nexus versus Nexus 64 Edition
The announcement also describes a limited Nexus 64 Edition. The comparison below separates established packaging differences from details that were not supplied.
| Item | Standard Nexus | Nexus 64 Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Handheld and Evercade compatibility | Nexus handheld with announced support for the Evercade cartridge library | Nexus handheld with the same announced platform compatibility |
| Included game | Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack | Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack is associated with the launch bundle; verify the exact regional listing |
| Carry case | Not included as standard; sold separately | Themed case included |
| Screen protection | Screen protector kit sold separately | Screen protector pack included |
| Packaging | Standard packaging | Collectible box |
| Certificate | Not stated | Numbered certificate |
| Edition size | Not a stated limited run | Reported limit of 2,000 units |
| Price and retailer availability | Not stated in the available announcement information | Regional price and retailer availability should be checked at launch |
The 64 Edition is therefore primarily a packaging and collectibility upgrade. The supplied announcement does not identify a different processor, display, battery, or game-compatibility list for it, so there is no established performance reason to assume that it plays different cartridges from the standard model.
Release status and what is still unknown
A hands-on report published by Tom’s Guide on 8 October 2026 described two days of use and repeated the claim of compatibility with more than 80 cartridges. That report said a full review was still to come. As of 13 October 2026, the announced 30 October 2026 launch was still in the future.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
That timing affects how confidently prospective buyers should interpret the available information. The hardware specifications and catalogue totals are launch-announcement claims, while the hands-on account is early-access reporting rather than a completed independent review. No independent battery test, display measurement, performance benchmark, or exhaustive cartridge audit is established here.
The following points remain open until final retail documentation or broader testing is available:
- A complete title-by-title compatibility list, including exceptions.
- Whether every cartridge receives a firmware update or special control mapping.
- Actual battery life under defined brightness, volume, and wireless conditions.
- Which games support EverSync and whether multiplayer rules vary by title.
- Final regional pricing, stock, and availability of the standard and 64 Edition packages.
Who should consider the Nexus?
It fits an existing Evercade collection
Nexus is most straightforward for someone who already owns Evercade cartridges and wants one handheld with a larger screen, dual analogue sticks, wireless headphones, and a stronger grip. The physical-cartridge approach also suits collectors who prefer to own and swap boxed games rather than rely on a download-only library.

The included double pack gives a new buyer an immediate two-game starting point. The widescreen presentation, revised camera option, and alternative controls are specifically relevant to anyone approaching the Banjo games on a modern handheld layout.
It may not fit a digital-only or all-in-one expectation
Nexus is not presented as a device for arbitrary emulators, downloaded ROM collections, or every retro platform. Its value depends on the Evercade cartridge catalogue and on whether the games you want are available in that ecosystem. Buyers seeking a complete, title-by-title guarantee should wait for the final compatibility information for their specific cartridges.
Bottom line on the Nexus game library
The Evercade Nexus is an Evercade cartridge handheld announced to support more than 80 cartridges and more than 700 games. Its standard bundle includes Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie on one double-pack cartridge, with widescreen support and control changes tailored to Nexus. The platform’s strongest differentiators are its 5.89-inch display, twin analogue sticks, TATE mode, and EverSync two-console wireless play.
The reported 30 October 2026 release date had not arrived as of 13 October 2026. Until final compatibility documentation and independent testing are available, treat the library count as an attributed announcement figure and verify individual cartridge support rather than assuming that every Evercade title behaves identically.
