Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a runs-based racing adventure set in the lawless Outer Rim after the Empire’s fall. You play Shade, an ambitious racer entering the unsanctioned Galactic League to challenge its intimidating champion, Kestar Bool. The game combines a story campaign with repeatable, risk-and-reward runs, vehicle upgrades, and competitive modes.
Fuse Games developed the game and Secret Mode published it. It launched worldwide on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Races use landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers across locations including Jakku, Tatooine, Sentinel I, Lantaana, Derven Acos, Ando Prime, and Crait.
What kind of game is Galactic Racer?
Galactic Racer is a racing game with a narrative campaign, not a general-purpose open-world Star Wars adventure. Its setting is the period after the Empire’s grip has broken and the New Republic is trying to rebuild. In the power vacuum, gambling, entertainment, and personal glory support an underground racing economy in the Outer Rim.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe central competition is the Galactic League, an unsanctioned circuit backed by syndicates and populated by pilots chasing money, status, and survival. Each run presents a sequence of races and events. Your decisions determine which opportunities and dangers appear, while crashes can end the current tour and send you back to the start of another attempt. Some perks and unlocks carry over between attempts, giving the game a roguelite-style rhythm without turning it into a conventional battle-royale or open-world title.

- SURVIVE A DANGEROUS UNDERGROUND SPORT - Join The Galactic League - an unsanctioned racing circuit born in the lawless Outer Rim. Become Shade, a lone racer chasing revenge and glory.
- BUILD AND CUSTOMIZE YOUR CRAFT - Pilot different classes of repulsorcraft each with distinct physics and playstyles. Build a ride that showcases your style and gives you a competitive edge.
- BATTLE RIVALS IN MULTIPLE GAME MODES - Ride solo through a story-driven campaign of shifting alliances or brave strategic PvP grudge matches where reputation rides with you.
- CLIMB THE RANKS AND EARN REWARDS - Prove yourself through intense rivalries and escalating challenges. Every choice shapes your prospects as you build your status in The Galactic League.
The official description emphasizes three ideas: driving skill, strategic choices, and survival. You are not simply climbing a fixed championship ladder. You are deciding how much risk to accept during a run, improving your vehicle between events, and trying to reach the League’s most consequential races.
Galactic Racer’s story and main characters
Shade enters the Galactic League
Shade is an up-and-coming racer with a personal grudge against the Bool family. That motivation brings Shade into the Galactic League, where winning races is only part of the challenge. The League’s champion, Kestar Bool, uses his reputation and influence to intimidate other pilots and extend his family’s power.
The campaign follows Shade’s attempt to unseat Kestar. The conflict gives the races a clear narrative purpose: every event is a step toward confronting a champion who controls the circuit and can manipulate the people competing in it.
Hibi runs the workshop
Shade’s mechanic, Hibi, operates a workshop in the paddock. Parts earned during runs or purchased through Hibi can be fitted there, making the workshop the practical hub for improving a craft. The story treats customization as part of the campaign rather than as a detached garage menu: your preparation happens in the same racing community that supplies the League’s events.
Sebulba returns as a veteran racer
Legendary podracer Sebulba also appears in the campaign. He helps prepare Shade for Kestar Bool’s schemes and connects the new story to the older history of Star Wars racing. His role is more than a cameo reference: he is presented as an experienced racer who understands the dangers Shade is entering.
How the runs structure affects the story
A crash can end a tour, after which you regroup and begin another attempt. The campaign is therefore built around repeated runs rather than one uninterrupted series of races. Choices, events, unlocks, and carried-over perks make subsequent attempts meaningfully different, while the overall objective remains the same: build enough momentum to challenge Kestar Bool.
How gameplay and progression work
Choose a route through each run
Official material describes a campaign in which event choices shape each run. A route may offer a safer opportunity or a more dangerous one with a better potential payoff. The game’s risk-and-reward structure asks you to weigh immediate gains against the possibility of ending the tour before reaching its later events.

The available evidence establishes the decision-based run structure but does not specify every event type, route length, or reward probability. Those details can vary with the final game’s live implementation and should not be confused with a traditional, fully scripted championship schedule.
Improve a craft at Hibi’s workshop
Runs provide parts, tools, and upgrades. At Hibi’s workshop, you fit those items to the vehicle you plan to use. Customization is intended to support different racing approaches: a player may prioritize handling, survival, or the ability to exploit a particular course. The official descriptions confirm upgrade fitting and distinct craft classes, but they do not publish a complete statistics chart for every part.
Recover after a crash
Crashes are a central failure state rather than a minor setback inside a race. When one ends a tour, the next attempt starts with the knowledge gained from the previous route and with certain perks or unlocks retained. This structure rewards learning dangerous sections and refining decisions instead of expecting a perfect first run.
Vehicles: four ways to race
Galactic Racer includes four broad vehicle types. They are not presented as cosmetic variations; the official descriptions emphasize distinct craft classes and customization.

| Vehicle class | Role in the game |
|---|---|
| Landspeeders | Repulsorcraft used for the League’s surface racing events. |
| Speeder bikes | Light, motorcycle-style vehicles included among the game’s raceable craft. |
| Skim speeders | Another dedicated craft class with its own customization and handling identity. |
| Podracers | The class most directly tied to Star Wars’ established podracing tradition, including Sebulba’s involvement. |
The official sources do not provide a complete top-speed, acceleration, or handling comparison for these classes. Treat the class list as confirmed, but avoid assuming that one class is universally fastest or best before checking the game’s own tuning information.
Planets and racing environments
The game’s locations mix recognizable Star Wars worlds with less familiar Outer Rim settings. The gameplay reveal specifically highlights Sentinel I, Jakku, Ando Prime, and Lantaana. The wider official location list also names Derven Acos, Tatooine, and Crait.
- Jakku: A familiar desert world and one of the settings highlighted in the gameplay reveal.
- Tatooine: A classic Star Wars location with a strong connection to the franchise’s racing history.
- Sentinel I: One of the environments shown in the gameplay material.
- Lantaana: Another featured destination in the reveal.
- Ando Prime: Included among the specifically highlighted racing locations.
- Derven Acos: Named in the official planet and environment list.
- Crait: Also identified as one of the game’s racing environments.
The sources establish these worlds as locations in the game, but they do not publish a track-by-track map, lap count, or complete environmental hazard list. Course layouts and event availability may depend on the mode or run currently being played.

| Arcade | An official standalone mode for racing outside the campaign structure. The available descriptions do not specify its complete event selection or scoring rules. |
Steam labels the game as supporting single-player, online player-versus-player, and cross-platform multiplayer. The official listings reviewed do not establish player-count limits or every supported platform pairing, so consult the current platform documentation for those specifics.
How Galactic Racer connects to Star Wars
It treats racing as part of the galaxy’s history
Galactic Racer draws on the idea that racing has always existed at the edges of Star Wars society. The release announcement explicitly connects the new game to the racing tradition associated with Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and the earlier game Star Wars: Episode I: Racer. Podracing is present, but the game broadens the concept to include several repulsorcraft classes and a wider Outer Rim circuit.
Sebulba links the new story to classic podracing
Sebulba’s appearance is the clearest character connection. He returns as a veteran racer and helps Shade prepare for Kestar Bool. His presence places the new Galactic League in conversation with the best-known competitive racing seen in Star Wars, while the campaign’s original characters keep the plot focused on a new conflict.
The locations reinforce the setting
Jakku and Tatooine are recognizable locations for fans, while Sentinel I, Lantaana, Ando Prime, Derven Acos, and Crait expand the circuit beyond the most familiar planets. The Outer Rim setting also fits the game’s themes: weak central authority, syndicate influence, and local competitions where reputation can be as valuable as credits.
Original characters drive the plot
The game does not retell a film story. Shade, Kestar Bool, and Hibi form the core of the campaign, with Sebulba serving as the bridge to established racing lore. That lets Galactic Racer use familiar motifs without requiring players to follow a movie adaptation.

Who is Galactic Racer for?
It suits players who enjoy repeatable challenge
The runs structure favors people who like learning from failure, making route decisions, and gradually improving a build. A crash ends the current tour, but carried-over perks and unlocks give later attempts a sense of progress.
It suits Star Wars fans who want more than podracing
Podracers and Sebulba provide a direct connection to familiar lore, while landspeeders, speeder bikes, and skim speeders expand the racing fantasy. The Outer Rim setting, syndicate-backed League, and post-Empire timeline give the game an identity separate from the films’ main conflicts.
It may not suit players seeking a free-roaming adventure
The official description presents a focused racing experience with Campaign, Scenario, and Arcade modes. It does not describe a free-roaming planetary exploration game, a role-playing game, or a large open-world adventure. Players looking for those formats should set expectations accordingly.

What makes Galactic Racer different from earlier Star Wars racing games?
Earlier Star Wars racing games largely centered on the spectacle of podracing. Galactic Racer keeps that tradition through its podracer class and Sebulba, but it frames racing as a broader Outer Rim economy. Landspeeders, speeder bikes, and skim speeders join the roster, and the runs-based campaign adds strategic route selection and persistent progression between attempts.
Its story is also original rather than a retelling of a film race. Shade’s feud with Kestar Bool, Hibi’s workshop, and the syndicate-backed Galactic League provide the game’s own characters and stakes. The result is a Star Wars racing adventure that uses familiar worlds and history while building a new competitive circuit.
Bottom line
Galactic Racer is a story-led, runs-based Star Wars racing game about Shade’s attempt to defeat Galactic League champion Kestar Bool. Its combination of repeatable risk-and-reward runs, upgradeable landspeeders and other repulsorcraft, classic connections such as Sebulba and podracing, and locations from Jakku to Tatooine makes it a focused racing adventure rather than an open-world Star Wars game. It is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with physical Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s products described for console players.
