“RTX Audio” is an informal umbrella term, not the name of one NVIDIA product. For most people with a compatible RTX graphics card, it means NVIDIA Broadcast’s AI audio effects, including background-noise removal and room-echo removal. Owners of some GTX cards may instead use the separate, older RTX Voice utility for noise removal; GTX support for RTX Voice does not mean Broadcast supports GTX hardware.

What does NVIDIA Broadcast do to audio?

NVIDIA Broadcast processes microphone or incoming audio and provides virtual audio devices that other Windows apps can select. Its noise-removal effect targets unwanted background noise; room-echo removal is intended to reduce reverberation from the room. NVIDIA describes Broadcast for streaming, voice chat, and video calls. Its setup guidance includes workflows with apps such as OBS Studio and Discord. NVIDIA Broadcast: features and requirements

These are processing effects, not a guarantee of improved sound in every room or with every microphone. NVIDIA’s published pages do not give a general measured improvement in sound quality. Results depend on the sound being captured and the effect settings.

Which NVIDIA audio software works with your graphics card?

Software Hardware path Audio effects described by NVIDIA What to know
NVIDIA Broadcast GeForce RTX 2060, Quadro RTX 3000, TITAN RTX, or higher, subject to the other listed requirements Noise removal and room-echo removal NVIDIA says Broadcast cannot be used with GeForce GTX GPUs. NVIDIA Broadcast FAQ
RTX Voice NVIDIA says it patched RTX Voice to support GeForce GTX GPUs Noise removal This is a separate, earlier utility—not a GTX-compatible version of Broadcast. Check NVIDIA’s setup guidance for supported software and configuration details. NVIDIA RTX Voice setup guide

If you need room-echo removal, Broadcast is the relevant option in NVIDIA’s documented software paths, and it requires supported RTX hardware. If you have a GTX card and want noise removal, RTX Voice may be an option; do not assume it includes Broadcast’s feature set.

What does NVIDIA Broadcast require?

NVIDIA’s Broadcast requirements table lists a GeForce RTX 2060, Quadro RTX 3000, TITAN RTX, or higher; 8 GB of RAM; 64-bit Windows 10; and driver R570 or newer. NVIDIA’s FAQ also says an internet connection is required during installation so the installer can download GPU-specific AI models. Check the current requirements and download page before installing, since software and driver requirements can change. NVIDIA Broadcast requirements · NVIDIA Broadcast FAQ

NVIDIA’s Broadcast page shows two different version labels: the page header says 2.2.0, while the requirements block says 2.2.1. That discrepancy does not establish which version will be offered to every installer; use NVIDIA’s download page or release notes to confirm the version available when you install.

A supported RTX card is required to run Broadcast, but if your PC already has one, NVIDIA’s setup guidance does not require a separate microphone, headset, or other audio accessory. Buying a graphics card solely for noise removal is a much larger decision: weigh your broader computing needs and, if you have a GTX card, consider the distinct RTX Voice path before upgrading.

How do you route audio through NVIDIA Broadcast?

  1. Install and open Broadcast. Confirm that your PC meets NVIDIA’s current requirements and that the installer can access the internet to download its AI models.
  2. Choose the input in Broadcast. Select the microphone you actually use, then enable the desired effect, such as Noise Removal or Room Echo Removal.
  3. Select the virtual device in your target app. In the streaming, chat, or conferencing app’s audio settings, choose the NVIDIA Broadcast microphone device for your microphone input. For processed incoming audio, select the NVIDIA Broadcast speaker device as that app’s output when that is the result you want. NVIDIA describes Broadcast as creating virtual devices through which processed audio is passed to other applications. NVIDIA Broadcast setup guide
  4. Test the actual route. Use the target app’s input meter, preview, or test call to check that it receives the processed signal. If the expected device does not appear, check that Broadcast is running and consult the app’s current device list and NVIDIA’s setup instructions.
  5. Check for duplicate processing. If the target app or audio driver also applies noise suppression, test with that effect disabled. NVIDIA warns in its RTX Voice guidance that applying similar effects twice can interfere with audio quality or correct operation. NVIDIA RTX Voice setup guide

Do not route all system playback through a denoising device unless you intend to process all of that playback. Selecting the Broadcast speaker device inside one communication app is different from changing Windows’ default output for every application.

What can affect performance or results?

NVIDIA says performance impact varies with the GPU, game, webcam resolution and frame rate, and number of effects enabled. That means there is no reliable universal frame-rate cost to quote: a light voice-chat workload and a game running with several effects are not equivalent. Start with only the effect you need and check performance in your own workload before enabling more.

The available NVIDIA materials do not establish a universal winner across rooms, microphones, apps, or graphics-card configurations. If the result is unsatisfactory, verify the selected input, selected virtual device, effect choice, and any overlapping suppression in the destination app before assuming a hardware upgrade will solve it.
