USDO is OpenEden’s OpenDollar, a stablecoin designed to track the U.S. dollar. OpenEden says each token is backed by tokenized U.S. Treasury bills held through its TBILL Vault. Its customer interface shows minting and redemption against USDC at a 1:1 rate for eligible, onboarded customers.
The important limitation is supply data: the official USDO page’s circulation and reserve fields were blank when checked, and the available documentation does not publish a dependable current circulating total or complete contract-level issuance rules. You can explain the intended model, but you should not quote a precise supply figure or infer one from an empty dashboard.

USDO means OpenEden’s OpenDollar—not every token called “Open USD”
Ticker symbols are not unique identifiers. In this context, USDO refers to OpenEden’s OpenDollar. It is separate from OUSD, a similarly named Open USD product announced by Open Standard on September 30, 2026. Open Standard says OUSD is issued by Bridge, a Stripe company, and supports Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo. That announcement is at joinopenstandard.com/blog/ousd-is-live.

The two assets should not be merged in a wallet search, spreadsheet or supply comparison. The issuer, ticker, reserve design and network support can all differ. Always confirm the issuer and an official contract reference before treating a token symbol as an identity.
How OpenEden describes the reserve behind USDO
Tokenized Treasury bills through the TBILL Vault
In its February 21, 2025 launch announcement, OpenEden says USDO is pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar and fully collateralized by tokenized U.S. Treasury bills. The product integrates with the OpenEden TBILL Vault, where TBILL tokens represent a tokenized portfolio of U.S. Treasury bills.
In practical terms, this is a reserve-backed stablecoin design rather than an assertion that the token itself is a Treasury bill. USDO is the dollar-referenced token; the Treasury exposure is described as sitting in the underlying vault structure. The value of that distinction matters when evaluating redemption rights, legal claims and who controls the reserve.

Yield and on-chain visibility are design objectives, not audited results
OpenEden says the structure is intended to pass native Treasury yield to USDO holders and provide real-time, on-chain proof of reserves. Those statements describe the issuer’s product design and intended transparency. The sources available here do not provide an independent reserve attestation, a verified reserve balance or a third-party confirmation that every token is currently matched by a particular amount of Treasury assets.
OpenEden’s announcement also describes issuance through a Segregated Account Company and calls the arrangement bankruptcy-remote. That is a legal characterization by the issuer; the available material does not independently assess how the structure would work in an insolvency or how a token holder’s claim would be enforced.
How minting and redemption are presented to customers
The customer interface presents a simple conversion: 1 USDC for 1 USDO. It displays a zero estimated USDC fee and instant estimated completion. These are the estimates shown by the interface for an eligible transaction, not a promise that every transfer, blockchain fee or compliance review will complete instantly.

What an eligible customer would do
- Complete onboarding. OpenEden says minting and redemption are available only to eligible customers who have onboarded. Eligibility can include identity, jurisdiction and other compliance checks.
- Open the USDO transaction screen. Use the official customer interface at app.openeden.com/usdo and review the current terms, supported asset and transaction status shown for your account.
- Choose mint or redeem. For a mint, the displayed input is USDC and the output is USDO. For a redemption, the direction is reversed. The screen’s 1:1 quote is the customer-facing conversion rate.
- Review the estimate. Check the quoted amount, estimated fee and completion time before confirming. A zero estimated USDC fee does not necessarily mean that a wallet, network or custody provider will charge nothing elsewhere.
- Confirm only after checking destination and status. A transaction can remain subject to blockchain confirmation, account review or service availability even when the interface labels the estimate “instant.”
The interface description does not establish whether every user can transact on every supported chain, whether limits apply, or whether the displayed estimate changes during maintenance or compliance review. Treat the account screen and current terms as the operative instructions for an approved customer.

The intended economic mechanism
A reserve-backed token normally expands when an authorized participant deposits the accepted collateral and receives newly issued tokens, then contracts when tokens are returned for collateral. USDO’s displayed mint and redemption workflow is consistent with that model: a successful mint would represent more USDO in circulation, while a successful redemption would represent fewer tokens available to the market.
That explanation describes the economic intent, not a verified statement about USDO’s smart-contract implementation. The reviewed sources do not publish the complete issuance formula, burn rules, administrator permissions, settlement sequence or chain-by-chain accounting needed to prove exactly how supply changes on-chain.

What is not currently established
- No dependable current circulating-supply number is provided by the reviewed sources.
- The official product page labels sections for USDO circulation and reserves, but the values were blank when checked.
- The customer interface provides transaction details but no total supply figure.
- The available material does not establish official contract addresses, a complete list of deployment networks or chain-by-chain balances.
- It does not specify whether supply metrics include locked, treasury, custodial or otherwise restricted tokens.
- It does not provide a complete formula reconciling outstanding USDO with TBILL Vault assets at a particular time.
Consequently, an empty supply field should be read as data not displayed, not as proof that circulation is zero. Conversely, a wallet balance or a third-party token tracker should not be treated as an issuer-confirmed total unless its methodology and contract coverage are documented.
How to check supply without overstating what the data proves
- Start with the official product page. Check OpenEden’s USDO page for the circulation and reserve fields, and note the retrieval date and whether values are populated.
- Check the customer interface if you are eligible. The app at app.openeden.com/usdo can show account-level mint and redemption information. That is not automatically a market-wide supply report.
- Look for an explicit methodology. A useful supply figure should identify the contracts and networks counted, the timestamp, treatment of locked balances and whether the number is circulating, issued or total minted.
- Separate supply from reserves. A reserve display answers an asset-backing question; a supply display answers how many tokens are outstanding. They are related but not interchangeable.
- Do not fill gaps with estimates. Without published contract addresses and rules, adding wallet balances or extrapolating from a transaction count can produce a number that looks precise but is not authoritative.
Eligibility, licensing and geography
OpenEden identifies OpenEden Digital Limited as the USDO issuer and says the company is licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority as a Digital Asset Business. Licensing is a regulatory status claim; it does not by itself guarantee a token’s price, liquidity or recoverability in every scenario.
The launch announcement expressly says USDO is not an offer in the United States or restricted jurisdictions. The product site also says access depends on jurisdiction and eligibility. USDO therefore should not be presented as universally available to U.S. readers, nor should a reader assume that being able to view the website creates a right to mint or redeem.

Before attempting a transaction, check the current geographic restrictions, onboarding requirements, identity checks, minimums, limits and applicable customer agreement for your location. Those details can change independently of the token’s stated dollar peg.
Risks and due-diligence questions
Reserve and legal risk
The Treasury-bill backing, yield pass-through and bankruptcy-remote structure are issuer-described features. Ask what legal claim a USDO holder has to the reserve, who is custodian, how redemptions are prioritized and what happens if the issuer or a service provider fails. Do not treat “backed” as equivalent to a government guarantee or an independent audit.
Access and liquidity risk
Because minting and redemption are limited to eligible onboarded customers and restricted by geography, an open-market holder may not have the same redemption route as an approved customer. Secondary-market liquidity, trading venues and transfer support are not established by the cited material.

Technology and operational risk
Smart-contract permissions, bridge or custody arrangements, network outages, oracle dependencies and incorrect wallet addresses can affect a token even when its reserve design is sound. The available sources do not provide enough contract documentation to evaluate those controls in detail.
Data risk
A blank dashboard, delayed update or undisclosed methodology makes supply analysis uncertain. Record the source, timestamp and definition of any number you use, and label it as issuer-reported, account-specific or independently calculated.
Bottom line
USDO is OpenEden’s OpenDollar: a dollar-pegged token that OpenEden says is backed by tokenized U.S. Treasury bills through the TBILL Vault. Eligible onboarded customers see a 1 USDC-to-1 USDO mint and redemption display, with zero estimated USDC fee and instant estimated completion in the interface. The decisive supply fact is what cannot yet be verified from the available documentation: no reliable current circulating total, complete contract-level issuance formula, official chain-by-chain accounting or independent reserve figure is published in the reviewed sources. Use the issuer’s pages to understand the design, but do not present an empty field or an unverified tracker number as USDO’s definitive supply.
