Switching mining pools does not normally transfer an unpaid balance to the new pool. Rewards already recorded in your old pool account remain subject to that pool’s payout rules. Redirecting your miner changes where future shares are credited; it does not move the balance you had already earned.
Keep access to the old account, review its current payout page for the specific coin, and confirm the payout address and threshold before you disconnect. Depending on the operator, the balance may be paid automatically after reaching a threshold, withdrawn manually below that threshold, or handled through an inactive-account procedure. No single rule applies to every pool, coin or payout network.
What changes when you point your miner at a new pool
Your mining software submits new work to the pool configured in its connection settings. Shares accepted after the change are credited under the new pool’s account. The old pool does not receive those new shares, but its ledger still contains the rewards it previously credited to you.

The safest assumption is therefore that the old balance belongs to the old account until that operator pays it or confirms another process. Pool terms can contain exceptions, so do not assume a balance is recoverable forever without checking the applicable policy.

Changing pools also does not cancel a payout that is already in progress. A payment can still be waiting for a threshold, a scheduled settlement, a security delay, address activation or an account review. Treat “I stopped mining there” and “the pool no longer owes me” as separate questions.
What to record before you switch
Capture the old account’s state before changing the worker configuration. This gives you the information support staff need if the payment is delayed and prevents a wallet-address mistake.
- Sign in to the original pool. Record the displayed balance, asset, worker or account identifier and the date and time of the snapshot.
- Copy the payout settings. Save the destination address, payout network, automatic threshold and any pending-payment status. An address for a mainnet asset is not interchangeable with an address for a different network or token.
- Read the coin-specific withdrawal page. Look for a manual-withdrawal option, minimum manual amount, inactivity rule, required mining stoppage and request frequency. Rules shown for one coin may not apply to another.
- Check destination limits. Confirm that your wallet or exchange accepts the asset and network and that the amount will satisfy its minimum deposit. f2pool specifically warns miners to check an exchange’s minimum deposit before requesting a withdrawal.
- Preserve access. Keep the login credentials, two-factor authentication method, payout records and support correspondence until the transaction is visible at the destination.
How pool payout rules determine what happens next
Automatic settlement after a threshold
Many pools calculate rewards continuously but settle them on a schedule once the account reaches a coin-specific minimum. Thresholds, settlement times and supported networks are operator settings, not industry standards.
f2pool’s help-center schedule says daily settlement begins at 00:00 UTC and that threshold-qualified payouts generally finish by 08:00 UTC, with exceptions for listed coins. This is a schedule example, not a promise that every asset or every day follows the same timing.
Braiins Pool describes financial accounts that store confirmed mining rewards and configurable payout rules. Its guide says payouts are evaluated daily, while the account holder can configure schedules and thresholds. A miner who stops work can therefore still receive a payment when the account meets the configured rule.

Balances below the automatic minimum
A balance below an automatic threshold is not automatically lost, but the available remedy depends on the pool and coin. Some operators provide a manual withdrawal; others require continued mining, an inactivity period or support intervention.
f2pool’s article “How can I withdraw my balance if it does not reach the minimum threshold?”, updated August 14, 2026, says miners can request withdrawals with the Manual Withdrawal function when the balance meets that coin’s manual minimum. The account must have stopped mining for more than 24 hours, and requests are limited to once every 30 days after mining has stopped. The article lists BTC’s default manual threshold as 0.0005 BTC and a 0.000001 BTC fee for BTC Lightning withdrawal. Manual withdrawal is not available for every coin, and f2pool says the thresholds and availability shown in the account should be checked because they can change.

Inactive-account procedures
Some pools publish a special process for accounts that are no longer mining. Hiveon’s English FAQ describes daily payment when the balance reaches its then-published fixation threshold. It also says an inactive account below that threshold may be paid on the 28th of the month after seven days of inactivity, subject to the page’s timing and minimum-amount conditions.
The Hiveon page includes legacy details for ETH and ETC. Those details should not be presented as a current rule for every Hiveon asset: verify the current coin, pool status, threshold and inactivity wording in your account before relying on the date or amount.
Balances held below a coin’s minimum payout
Binance Pool’s official FAQ lists different payout models by coin and says rewards for some merged-mining coins remain in the pool balance when they are below the coin’s minimum payout threshold. It also notes that an external address may need to be configured for certain merged rewards. This illustrates why an unpaid amount can remain visible after you stop mining without indicating that it has been transferred or forfeited.

These examples demonstrate variation between operators. They do not establish a universal obligation for every pool or jurisdiction.

Before treating the balance as lost, inspect the account’s payout history and security settings. f2pool lists several causes of delay:
- A recent payout-address change: f2pool says modifying a wallet address triggers a three-day payout pause.
- A paused payout: An account-level pause can stop otherwise eligible settlements.
- A changed threshold: Raising the threshold can leave a previously visible balance below the new minimum.
- An unactivated address: The pool may require address confirmation before sending funds.
- Suspension or review: An account restriction can prevent payment until the operator resolves it.
Also check whether the balance is confirmed, whether a transaction ID has already been issued and whether the receiving service has credited the deposit. A pool balance that has not yet generated a transaction is different from a blockchain transaction that is still confirming.
How to request a below-threshold withdrawal
If the old pool offers a manual route, follow its current account-page instructions rather than copying a threshold from another coin or website. The general sequence is:
- Stop all mining on the old account and wait the required inactivity period. For f2pool’s documented manual process, this is more than 24 hours.
- Open the pool’s wallet, payout or balance page and select the manual-withdrawal control if it is offered for that asset.
- Check the displayed minimum, fee, payout network and destination address. For f2pool, the BTC example is a 0.0005 BTC default manual threshold, while BTC Lightning has a 0.000001 BTC fee; the account page is authoritative for current values.
- Confirm that the receiving wallet or exchange accepts the exact asset and network and that its minimum deposit will not cause the amount to be rejected or stranded.
- Submit the request only when the account satisfies the operator’s timing and frequency limits. f2pool’s article says manual requests are limited to once every 30 days after mining has stopped.
- Save the request confirmation and monitor the payout record until the transaction appears at the destination.
If no manual option appears, the balance may require an automatic threshold, an inactivity payout, continued mining, or a support ticket. Do not create a second account expecting the old balance to follow it.

Wallet and exchange checks that prevent avoidable losses
Most “missing” payouts caused during a pool switch are configuration problems rather than a transfer between pools. Verify all of the following before requesting payment:
- The address belongs to the intended wallet and has not been replaced by an old clipboard entry.
- The network matches the asset, such as a native chain versus a token or a Lightning route.
- The destination accepts deposits of the exact asset and amount.
- The destination’s minimum deposit is lower than the payout, especially when a manual withdrawal fee is deducted.
- The account has completed any address-activation or email-confirmation step.
- You understand whether a recent address edit starts a security hold.
Never disclose a seed phrase or private key to pool support. Legitimate support may ask for an account identifier, payout address, transaction ID or screenshots with sensitive information redacted, but it should not need wallet-seed credentials.

The balance is below the automatic threshold
Open the coin’s payout instructions and look for a manual minimum or inactivity payment. If neither exists, ask support whether the amount remains claimable, how long the account must be inactive and whether a fee applies.
The balance meets the threshold but no transaction exists
Check the scheduled settlement window, payout history, address activation and any security pause. f2pool’s published daily window is a useful example, but another operator may evaluate payouts on a different schedule.
A transaction ID exists but the destination is empty
Check the blockchain explorer for confirmations, then verify that the wallet or exchange is watching the same network. Contact the destination service with the transaction ID if the chain shows completion.

The account is suspended or inaccessible
Use the pool’s official support channel and provide the account identifier, last known balance, asset, payout address and relevant dates. Keep copies of the policy page and payout records. Do not open duplicate accounts unless support instructs you to do so.
You changed the payout address immediately before leaving
Expect a possible security delay. f2pool documents a three-day pause after an address modification; other pools may use different periods. Wait through the stated hold and confirm the address before escalating.
Questions to compare before choosing your next pool
The easiest way to avoid an inconvenient leftover balance is to compare payout policies before directing hash power to a new operator. Record the answer for the specific coin you mine.

Save the answers with the date you checked them. Pool policies, coin support and thresholds can change, so a screenshot from an earlier month is not a substitute for the current payout page.
Does the old pool pay you after you stop mining?
It may, if the account satisfies that pool’s automatic, manual or inactive-account rule. Stopping work does not by itself create a transfer to your new pool and does not by itself erase the old balance. Your practical next step is to keep the old account open, follow the coin-specific payout instructions and contact the original operator when the published rules do not explain the balance.
