Buying Ultimate Team Coins from a third party or sending Coins to another account violates EA’s rules. EA says coin buying and distribution can put an account at risk, including losing access to the Transfer Market on the Companion App, console, or PC. The exact penalty and its duration depend on the case; EA’s general rules do not promise an automatic outcome for every incident.
What EA means by buying or transferring Coins
EA permits players to earn Coins through Ultimate Team and to sell tradeable items for Coins at fair Transfer Market prices. It prohibits buying Coins from third parties and distributing Coins to another account. EA explains that coin distribution undermines the buying and selling environment players use to obtain Ultimate Team items. As EA puts it on its rules page, “Coin distribution disrupts the safe buying and selling environment that players use to get new Ultimate Team™ items.”
“Transfer” can mean more than sending a direct gift. EA also treats the Transfer Market as a prohibited route when someone uses an item transaction to move Coins between accounts rather than to buy or sell an item for legitimate Club use. An item’s presence in a listing does not make the purpose of the transaction acceptable.
| Action | EA’s stated policy | What to understand |
|---|---|---|
| Buy Coins from a third-party seller | Against EA’s rules | Coins must be earned through permitted Ultimate Team activity or fair sales of tradeable items. |
| Send Coins directly to a friend | Prohibited distribution | A friendly or personal reason does not make an account-to-account Coin gift permissible. |
| Use an item listing to route Coins to another account | Prohibited when the purpose is Coin transfer | Putting an item in the transaction does not make a disguised Coin payment legitimate. |
| Sell a tradeable item for Coins at a fair market price | Permitted way to earn Coins | EA says item prices respond to demand and each item has minimum and maximum listing prices. |
When a Transfer Market deal becomes Coin distribution
Normal item trading and disguised Coin transfers are not the same thing. A legitimate sale exchanges an item for Coins at a fair price. A prohibited transfer uses an item transaction as a pretext for moving a chosen amount of Coins to someone else.

Pricing an item to route Coins
EA specifically identifies deliberately listing or buying an item far above or below its average price to transfer Coins as a violation. Its rules also explain that an item’s average price changes with overall demand and that every item has a minimum and maximum listing price. Those boundaries and changing prices matter: a single unusual-looking price does not, by itself, establish that a player broke the rules. EA’s stated concern is using the market with the purpose of distributing Coins, including deliberate pricing patterns designed to do so.
For example, if two accounts arrange an item sale at a deliberately distorted price so one account receives a predetermined amount of Coins, the item is functioning as a transfer device rather than being sold for ordinary Club use. That is different from listing an item at a fair price and selling it to whoever buys it. The distinction is not simply whether a listing looks unusual; it is whether the market is being used to route Coins between accounts. EA does not publish a numeric threshold that makes a price automatically suspicious or a single unusual listing automatically a violation.
Why the distinction matters
The presence of a player, consumable, or other item in a transaction does not determine whether the activity is legitimate. The relevant distinction is whether you are making a fair sale for your Club or using the market as a payment channel for Coins. Avoid arranging a sale with another account to deliver a predetermined Coin amount, and do not buy or sell an item at an intentionally distorted price to move value between accounts.
EA says Coin buying can inflate Transfer Market item prices and make items harder to afford for players who earned Coins legitimately. It also says buying and distributing Coins harms other players’ experience and the market environment. Those are EA’s stated reasons for the policy, rather than a published measurement of the size of any price effect.
What can happen to your account
EA says buying or distributing Coins can put an account at risk and may lead it to limit or revoke Transfer Market access through the Companion App, console, or PC. A market restriction can prevent you from using the market through those channels, even if your purpose was to move Coins to someone you know rather than to resell them. EA describes the restriction as a possible action; it does not state that every report or transaction results in the same consequence.

EA’s general rules page describes possible actions, not a fixed penalty schedule. It does not establish an automatic first-offense penalty, a universal ban length, or a guaranteed result for a particular appeal. That means no one can reliably infer from the general policy alone whether a specific case will lead to a warning, a market restriction, or another account action. Do not assume that a first incident is consequence-free, but do not treat one possible consequence as certain either. EA’s general guidance does not let an outside observer predict the outcome for an individual account.

Third-party sellers can put your account credentials at risk
Policy violations are not the only danger. EA warns that Coin sellers may ask for your login details and then steal Coins, items, players, or the account itself. Sharing account information also violates EA’s rules. A promise to deliver Coins is therefore not only a policy risk: handing over credentials creates a direct route for someone else to access your account and its contents.
This security risk exists separately from the question of whether a seller actually delivers what was promised. Even if a seller claims a method is safe, that claim does not change EA’s rule against third-party Coin purchases, make account sharing permitted, or guarantee that the seller will not access the account. Keep credentials private and use official EA game versions and official Web or Companion Apps.
- Keep your EA account credentials private; do not provide them to a Coin seller.
- Use official EA game versions and official Web or Companion Apps, as EA advises.
- Do not use a third party’s claim of “safe” delivery as evidence that the transaction is permitted or that your account is protected.
How to earn Coins through permitted methods
EA identifies three legitimate routes: play Ultimate Team matches, quick-sell tradeable items, and sell tradeable items at fair Transfer Market prices. Match rewards can depend on the mode and your performance or rank. Item prices can move as supply, demand, and performance change, so an item’s value is not necessarily fixed.

These routes differ in what you do to earn Coins: matches provide mode rewards, quick-selling converts a tradeable item you own into Coins, and a market sale puts that item up for other players to buy. None involves purchasing Coins from a third party or arranging a transfer to another account. Rewards and item values vary, so a legitimate route is not a promise of a particular total or a guaranteed amount by a particular time.
Season 1 EA SPORTS FC 26 reward examples
EA’s Season 1 figures for EA SPORTS FC 26 give these weekly Coin reward ranges:
| Mode | Season 1 weekly Coin rewards |
|---|---|
| Rivals | 1,500–25,000 Coins |
| Champions | 2,000–85,000 Coins |
| Squad Battles | 3,000–20,000 Coins |
These are Season 1 ranges, not permanent guarantees or a promise that every player will receive the maximum. EA cautions that rewards can change during the year and in later seasons. Check the in-game mode hub for the reward list that applies to your current season and results. These figures describe the Season 1 reward ranges EA lists for the modes; they should not be used as a forecast for later seasons.
Price item sales fairly
When selling a tradeable item, use the Transfer Market as a market rather than as a way to pay another account. EA advises fair pricing and notes that prices shift with demand. An unusually high or low price alone is not proof of a violation, but deliberately setting a distorted price to route Coins is an example EA expressly prohibits. Check the item’s current market context rather than treating one past price as permanent, and do not coordinate a price simply to deliver a chosen Coin amount to another player.

Do not buy Coins from third parties, gift them to another account, or disguise a Coin transfer as an item sale. EA can restrict or revoke Transfer Market access, but its general policy does not specify a certain penalty or duration for every case. Earn Coins through matches and legitimate item sales, and keep your login details private.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send Ultimate Team Coins to a friend?
No. EA explicitly treats sending Coins to another account as distribution, including a direct gift to a friend. A personal reason does not make the transfer an allowed method.
Can EA take away my Transfer Market access for buying or transferring Coins?
EA says coin buying or distribution can put an account at risk and may result in limited or revoked Transfer Market access on the Companion App, console, or PC. The rules do not promise the same action in every case.
What if I use the Transfer Market to move Coins by buying an item?
An item transaction is prohibited when its purpose is to route Coins to another account. EA gives deliberately buying or listing an item far above or below its average price to transfer Coins as an example. A single unusual price alone is not proof of a violation; purpose and use of the market matter.
Is there a fixed ban length or automatic first-offense penalty?
EA’s general rules page does not provide a universal penalty schedule, automatic first-offense outcome, or fixed duration for individual cases. It describes possible consequences, so a specific account outcome cannot be predicted from that page alone.

Why is buying Coins from a third party risky beyond the rules?
EA warns that sellers may request login details and steal Coins, items, players, or the account. Keep credentials private and use official EA game versions and official Web or Companion Apps.
The Bottom Line
Buying Coins, gifting them, or using an item listing as a disguised transfer violates EA’s rules. Possible outcomes include restricted or revoked Transfer Market access, but EA does not specify a universal penalty or duration. Use matches and fair item sales to earn Coins, and never share account credentials with a seller.
