Samsung Good Lock is a free, modular customization app for Galaxy phones. Instead of applying one complete theme, it lets you install separate plugins that alter specific parts of One UI: the home screen, lock screen, quick panel, keyboard, navigation controls, gestures, audio, wallpapers, multitasking and some camera behavior. The useful module depends on the change you want to make, and the catalog you see depends on your Galaxy model, One UI version and region.
This guide explains what the major Good Lock modules do, how to install and use them, what the published download figures actually mean, and how to check compatibility before relying on a particular feature.
What does Good Lock do?
Good Lock is Samsung’s official customization framework for Galaxy devices. Its modules work at different layers of the phone rather than replacing One UI altogether. One plugin may change the layout of your home screen, another may add gesture shortcuts, and another may change how the volume panel behaves. Samsung describes Good Lock as a collection of plugins whose availability can vary by device model and region; plugins can also be added or removed over time. Android 7 and earlier are not supported. Check the Good Lock listing and each module’s Galaxy Store listing on your own phone for the current catalog. Samsung’s support guide explains these compatibility limits.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSome modules are installed from inside the Good Lock app, while others appear as separate apps after you select them. Installing Good Lock alone does not automatically activate every feature. You choose the plugin that controls the part of the phone you want to change, install it, open its settings and then apply the change. Removing a module returns the affected area to the standard One UI behavior, although you should review any settings you changed before uninstalling.

How to install Good Lock and a module
- Open Galaxy Store. Search for Good Lock and install Samsung’s official app. The exact listing and availability are region-dependent.
- Launch Good Lock. Browse the available module tiles. The app may present plugins in separate sections for interface customization and phone-behavior tools; the names and arrangement can change between releases.
- Choose a module that matches your goal. For example, choose Sound Assistant for volume behavior, NavStar for navigation controls or Home Up for home-screen organization.
- Tap the module’s install option. Galaxy Store may open a separate listing because each plugin is its own app. Install it, then return to Good Lock or open the module directly.
- Enable and test one change at a time. Many modules expose switches, sliders and previews. Apply a small change, test normal use, and keep a note of settings you may want to restore.
- Check after a One UI update. A system update can change which plugins are offered or whether a particular option works. If a module disappears, search for it again in Galaxy Store and verify the listing for your exact device.
There is no accessory, replacement part or repair tool required for the functions described here. Good Lock is software that runs on a compatible Galaxy phone.
Good Lock modules by the part of the phone they change
Home Up: reorganize the home screen
Home Up controls home-screen organization and customization. Samsung’s One UI 7 coverage describes a redesigned Home Up, while Samsung support lists it among the Good Lock plugins. Use it when the standard grid, folder behavior or home-screen arrangement does not suit the way you work. The precise controls can change with One UI releases, so the options shown in Home Up on your device are the authoritative list.
Theme Park: build a visual style for One UI
Theme Park creates and edits visual themes, including UI colors and icons. Samsung’s published examples include styling the keyboard, Quick Panel and messaging interface; One UI 7 coverage also describes app icons and home-screen folder shape and color. It is useful when you want a coordinated look without replacing the phone’s entire launcher. Theme Park changes appearance, not the underlying capabilities of the apps it styles.

Keys Cafe focuses on Samsung Keyboard. Samsung support identifies it as the keyboard-styling plugin. Depending on the version offered to your phone, you can use it to change the keyboard’s visual presentation and related layout choices. It affects Samsung Keyboard rather than every third-party keyboard, so verify which keyboard is active before troubleshooting a change that appears not to work.
NavStar: change navigation controls
NavStar changes navigation icons and layout. It is the module to investigate if you want to adjust the appearance or arrangement of the on-screen navigation controls instead of changing the whole theme. The available controls depend on whether your phone uses gesture navigation or the traditional navigation-bar mode and on the One UI version installed.

Sound Assistant: finer volume and per-app audio control
Sound Assistant changes the way Galaxy audio controls behave. Samsung says it supports fine volume increments from one to ten, per-app volume settings and a customizable volume-panel appearance. It also includes controls for media-volume behavior and related audio handling. That makes it useful when the standard volume steps are too large or when you want one app quieter than another.
Samsung reported more than 21 million cumulative Sound Assistant downloads through early March 2025, calling it one of Good Lock’s three most-downloaded features. That is a lifetime download count reported by Samsung Electronics, not a count of active users, a satisfaction score or an independent ranking. See Samsung’s April 11, 2025 explanation of the figure and the controls.
One Hand Operation+: configurable edge gestures
One Hand Operation+ adds gesture shortcuts from the edges of the screen. Samsung describes assigning functions to horizontal, vertical or diagonal swipes, changing the recognition area and vibration, excluding specific apps and configuring S Pen gestures where supported. You can use it to open an app, perform a navigation action or trigger a system function without reaching for a distant on-screen button.
Because gestures can overlap with an app’s own edge controls, use the module’s app-exclusion settings when a game, drawing app or document viewer needs the edge for its own commands. Samsung reported more than 16 million cumulative downloads for One Hand Operation+ through early March 2025; again, this is a cumulative Samsung download count, not active-user data. Samsung’s published figures are listed here.
Wonderland: animated lock- and home-screen wallpapers
Wonderland creates animated wallpapers from layered images, text, video and particle effects. Samsung says the motion can respond to the phone’s tilt and to touch, and that the lock screen and home screen can be customized independently. This is the module for building a moving scene rather than choosing a static wallpaper from the system picker.

Animated layers can use more processing and battery than a still image, particularly when motion effects are active. If battery life or smoothness becomes a concern, reduce the number of effects or return to a static wallpaper. Samsung’s wording is that “Wonderland enables users to create animated wallpapers for the lock and home screens.” The April 15, 2025 article describes its creation tools.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →RegiStar: settings-menu actions and back-tap shortcuts
RegiStar customizes parts of the Settings experience and adds gesture-based actions. Samsung Japan highlights settings-menu customization and back-tap actions, which can trigger a selected function when you tap the rear of the phone. Sensitivity and supported actions may differ by model, so test the shortcut with the phone in its case and in the apps you use most.
Camera Assistant: adjust camera behavior
Camera Assistant exposes additional camera-behavior controls. Samsung Japan gives adding zoom-button choices in the camera app as an example. It changes how the Samsung Camera app behaves; it does not turn every camera feature into a universal control for third-party camera apps. Device and software support determine which switches appear.
QuickStar: tailor the Quick Panel
QuickStar customizes the Quick Panel and related status-area presentation. Samsung support lists Quick Panel customization as one of its uses. Choose it when you want to control which indicators or controls are prominent rather than redesigning the entire theme. The exact toggles can vary with the One UI release and the panel layout on your device.
LockStar and ClockFace: redesign the lock screen
LockStar focuses on lock-screen layout, while ClockFace supplies alternative lock-screen clock designs. Samsung support lists both among Good Lock plugins. They address different parts of the same screen: LockStar changes placement and arrangement, and ClockFace changes the clock style. If a clock option does not appear, check whether the selected lock-screen layout and your regional module catalog support it.

MultiStar: expand multitasking options
MultiStar adds multitasking-related controls. Samsung support cites it as the Good Lock plugin for multitasking. It is the logical choice when your goal concerns split-screen, multi-window or other app-pair behavior rather than icon styling. Some multitasking functions are limited by the phone’s screen size, Android version or the app itself.
Which module should you use?
| What you want to change | Module to check first | What it affects |
|---|---|---|
| Home-screen layout or organization | Home Up | Home screen |
| Colors, icons, folders or coordinated UI styling | Theme Park | Theme elements, icons and selected One UI surfaces |
| Samsung Keyboard appearance | Keys Cafe | Samsung Keyboard |
| Navigation icons or layout | NavStar | Navigation controls |

| Extra Samsung Camera behavior | Camera Assistant | Camera app controls |
| Quick Panel appearance | QuickStar | Quick Panel and status area |
| Lock-screen arrangement or clock design | LockStar or ClockFace | Lock screen layout or clock |
| Multitasking controls | MultiStar | Multi-window and related behavior |
This is a decision aid, not a universal ranking. A module is useful only if it addresses the specific setting you want and is listed for your phone and region.
How availability and compatibility work
Good Lock support is not identical across the Galaxy range. Samsung states that plugins vary by device model and region, and some plugins may be available only in English. Samsung may also add or remove plugins. Regional support pages can therefore show different catalogs. Samsung’s Levant support page describes the regional and plugin limitations.
One UI version matters as well. A module can be present but expose fewer controls on an older release, or temporarily lag an operating-system beta. A beta limitation should not be treated as proof that the same issue exists on the stable release. Before buying a Galaxy phone specifically for Good Lock, open Galaxy Store on the model in your market, search for Good Lock and the modules you need, and confirm that the listings are available. There is no single global compatibility matrix that guarantees every module on every Galaxy model.

What Samsung’s download figures do—and do not—show
Samsung’s April 2025 coverage identifies the three most-downloaded Good Lock features by cumulative downloads since launch through early March 2025:
Best Value
- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
| Module | Samsung-reported cumulative downloads | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Sound Assistant | More than 21 million | Samsung Electronics count through early March 2025 |
| Theme Park | More than 17 million | Samsung Electronics count through early March 2025 |
| One Hand Operation+ | More than 16 million | Samsung Electronics count through early March 2025 |
These figures indicate how many downloads Samsung had accumulated, not how many people currently use each module. They do not measure satisfaction, daily activity, market share or comparative quality. Theme Park’s figure, for example, should not be read as evidence that it is the best module for every Galaxy owner. Samsung’s source is explicit about the cumulative basis of the numbers.
Troubleshooting common Good Lock problems
A module is missing from Good Lock
- Search for the module directly in Galaxy Store; some plugins are separate app listings.
- Confirm your phone’s Android and One UI versions. Android 7 and earlier are unsupported.
- Check the listing in your own region. A module shown on a Samsung page for another country may not be offered where you live.
- Install available Good Lock and module updates, then restart the phone if the listing is present but the tile does not load.
The module installs but an option is absent
Options can be device- or software-dependent. Camera Assistant, S Pen gestures, navigation controls and multitasking features are especially sensitive to hardware and One UI configuration. Treat the switches displayed on your phone as the supported set rather than expecting every screenshot or guide to match.
A customization stopped working after an update
Open Good Lock and Galaxy Store to check for updates to both the framework and the affected plugin. If the phone is running an operating-system beta, wait for a compatible module release or disable the customization until a stable update arrives. Recheck the module’s settings after updating because a system change can reset or relocate controls.

Gestures conflict with an app
Use One Hand Operation+’s app-exclusion controls for software that relies on edge swipes. Reduce the gesture recognition area or change the swipe direction if the conflict continues. Test navigation gestures and the app’s own controls separately before deciding which behavior should win.
The phone feels slower or uses more battery
Animated Wonderland scenes and heavily layered visual effects can require more rendering than static settings. Simplify the wallpaper, reduce particle effects or switch back to a still image. If a behavior module causes instability, disable its most recent change first; this isolates the setting without removing every Good Lock plugin.
Should you install Good Lock?
Good Lock is worthwhile when you have a specific customization goal that standard One UI does not cover: finer volume control, a practical edge gesture, a different navigation layout, a tailored Quick Panel or an animated wallpaper. It is less useful if you expect one install to transform the whole phone or if the module you need is not offered for your model and region.
Start with one module, verify that it solves the problem, and add others only when you have a clear reason. That approach makes troubleshooting easier and avoids confusing a system change with a module setting. For current availability, use the Galaxy Store listing on the exact Galaxy phone you own or plan to buy, because Samsung’s catalog and compatibility can change.
