Win_add is an additional-noise allowance in Robust_search, an alarm-correlation method described in a 2002 research paper. It lets the search window include extra alarms while the method looks for an ordered sequence of alarm types. The paper does not establish “Win Add protocol” as the name of a separate, current network protocol or standard.
What Win_add means
In the 2002 paper Intelligent Search of Correlated Alarms from Database Containing Noise Data, Win_add specifies how many extra noise alarms the search can accommodate while looking for a target sequence. The target is an ordered sequence of alarm types; Win_add gives the search room to find that sequence within a larger window even when unrelated alarms occur among its events. Read the paper listing and available text on ResearchGate.
In the paper’s formulation, the added part of the window corresponds to the number of noise alarms allowed. The overall search window combines the target sequence’s length with that additional allowance. Win_add is therefore a parameter in a search method, not a message or procedure that network devices exchange.

Robust_search is presented as a way to discover alarm-correlation rules from databases that contain noise. Rather than requiring the target sequence to appear without interruption, the search can tolerate the number of extra alarms specified by Win_add. A larger allowance makes the search window more accommodating of intervening alarms.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The paper also names Win_freq as a measure of noise data, alongside Win_add. It discusses confidence and correlation as interestingness measures for the discovered rules. The available description does not provide enough detail to define the full distinction between Win_freq and Win_add or to judge one interestingness measure as better.
What the paper reports—and what it does not establish
The paper’s abstract reports that experiments on an alarm database containing noise found more rules with a bigger Win_add. That is a result reported by this particular study, not evidence that increasing the parameter will improve results on every dataset or in current network operations. The paper’s DOI record identifies it as a 2002 conference paper by Qingguo Zheng, Ke Xu, Weifeng Lv, and Shilong Ma.

The evidence available here does not establish exact numerical results, present-day benchmarks, recommended settings, or how changing Win_add affected false positives or search cost. Those should not be inferred from the abstract-level finding.
Is Win Add a protocol?
There is no verified basis here for treating “Win Add protocol” as a formal standalone protocol or current industry standard. The best-supported match for the phrase is Win_add, the parameter in the 2002 Robust_search paper. Calling it a protocol without that qualification could wrongly suggest a standardized system used by contemporary network equipment.
