Avengers: Endgame has no conventional post-credits scene in its original 2019 theatrical release. Instead, after the credits, viewers hear metal hammering: a callback to Tony Stark building his first Iron Man suit. It is a farewell to Tony and a bookend for the MCU’s film story, not a tease for a future plot.
What happens after the original Endgame credits?
There is no new scene with characters, dialogue, or a plot reveal. The film ends its credits with the sound of metal being hammered. The moment is audio, not footage of Tony returning or building another suit. ComicBook.com and TIME identify it as a callback to Tony making his first armor in Iron Man (2008).

What does the hammering mean?
The sound points back to Tony’s origin as the armored hero whose story helped launch the MCU film series. Because Endgame closes with a sound associated with that beginning, it creates a circular, retrospective ending: the saga returns to Tony building armor as it concludes with his final sacrifice. That bookend reading is an interpretation of the callback, not a new plot development.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Is the hammering a tease for another MCU movie?
No. The contemporary accounts describe it as an emotional callback and farewell, not a clue that advances a future film’s story. It does not establish that Tony is alive, speaking from beyond the grave, or secretly making more armor.

No. Recent coverage of the 2026 Endgame Encore rerelease discusses additional credits material in that rerelease context. That is separate from the original 2019 theatrical release, whose credits moment is the hammering audio. Do not use the rerelease material to describe what audiences heard at the end of the original release. The Hollywood Reporter reports on the Encore context.
