On the Logitech G PRO X3, LIGHTSPEED is the headset’s dedicated 2.4 GHz wireless connection. It works through the supplied USB-A LIGHTSPEED receiver. Bluetooth is a separate Bluetooth 5.3 connection that pairs directly with a compatible computer, phone, tablet, or other host. The headset also supports a wired connection.
For gaming, use LIGHTSPEED when you can leave the receiver connected and want the receiver-based gaming mode. Use Bluetooth when direct pairing is more convenient or the host has no suitable USB-A path. Use a cable when you prefer wired operation or do not want to use either wireless mode. Logitech does not publish a PRO X3-specific measured latency figure, so there is no reliable official number to quote for a LIGHTSPEED-versus-Bluetooth difference.
What LIGHTSPEED means on the PRO X3
LIGHTSPEED is Logitech’s name for the PRO X3’s receiver-based wireless link. The headset communicates over the 2.4 GHz band with a small USB-A receiver, rather than pairing directly with the computer through its built-in Bluetooth radio.
Recommended Free Tools
That distinction matters because the receiver becomes the wireless endpoint your computer uses. The host must have a usable USB-A connection for the receiver; Logitech’s September 24, 2026 product release specifies USB 2.0-or-later system support for Windows and macOS. Once the receiver is connected and the headset is using LIGHTSPEED, audio and microphone traffic travels through that dedicated USB accessory.

Logitech positions the product as a gaming headset and labels it “LIGHTSPEED Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset with Bluetooth.” That gaming positioning explains why many buyers consider LIGHTSPEED first, but it is not the same as a published laboratory latency result. The official PRO X3 material does not state a model-specific number of milliseconds for LIGHTSPEED.
What the receiver does
- Creates the headset’s 2.4 GHz wireless path to the host.
- Uses a USB-A port, so the receiver must be plugged into the computer, console, dock, hub, or adapter that will provide the connection.
- Avoids the need to put the host into Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Acts as a separate connection from the headset’s Bluetooth 5.3 mode and from wired operation.
What LIGHTSPEED does not mean
LIGHTSPEED is not a special Bluetooth setting, a faster Bluetooth version, or a claim that every game will be a fixed number of milliseconds faster. It is the name of a different radio path: 2.4 GHz through the supplied receiver. Any precise latency comparison requires a controlled, PRO X3-specific measurement, and Logitech’s retrieved specifications do not provide one.
How Bluetooth differs
Bluetooth on the PRO X3 is a direct Bluetooth 5.3 connection. Instead of inserting Logitech’s receiver, you place the headset and the compatible host into Bluetooth pairing mode and select the headset from the host’s device list.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBluetooth is useful for phones, tablets, laptops, and computers that already have compatible Bluetooth hardware. It removes the receiver from the setup and can be more convenient when USB-A ports are occupied or unavailable. The host still needs to support Bluetooth pairing; the headset cannot create Bluetooth support on a host that lacks it.
Bluetooth is a separate mode from LIGHTSPEED. Pairing a phone over Bluetooth does not turn the USB receiver into a Bluetooth adapter, and plugging in the receiver does not replace the phone’s Bluetooth pairing. The headset also has a wired mode, so you have three connection choices rather than one wireless connection with two names.

Does Bluetooth add lag?
Bluetooth can behave differently from a receiver-based gaming link because the radio path, operating-system audio stack, and Bluetooth profile all affect timing. However, the official PRO X3 sources do not publish a measured Bluetooth latency value or a measured LIGHTSPEED latency value. It is therefore accurate to say that Logitech presents LIGHTSPEED as the receiver-based gaming connection, not to claim that it is exactly a certain number of milliseconds faster.
If timing is critical to your game, test the mode with your own host, game, and audio settings. Keep the comparison qualitative unless you have a repeatable measurement for the PRO X3 itself.

Which connection should you use?
Choose LIGHTSPEED when gaming responsiveness is your priority
LIGHTSPEED is the practical first choice when you are playing on a computer with a free USB-A path and want the receiver-based gaming connection. It keeps the headset independent of the host’s Bluetooth pairing list and is the mode Logitech highlights in the product name.
- You have an available USB-A port, dock, hub, or suitable adapter.
- You want the headset ready for a gaming setup without pairing it each time.
- You are comfortable using Logitech’s receiver rather than direct Bluetooth.
Do not turn that recommendation into a numeric promise. Logitech does not state a PRO X3-specific LIGHTSPEED delay figure.

Choose Bluetooth for direct pairing and portability
Bluetooth is the better fit when you are moving among Bluetooth-capable devices or do not want to occupy a USB-A port. It is especially convenient for a laptop, phone, or tablet that is already configured for Bluetooth accessories.
- The host has compatible Bluetooth support.
- You want to leave the USB receiver at home or out of the setup.
- You are connecting to a device where direct pairing is simpler than using an adapter.
Choose wired mode when you want a cable
The PRO X3 also supports wired connectivity. Wired operation removes the wireless link from the path and can be useful when the headset is near the host, when you want to conserve wireless battery, or when a host’s wireless connections are inconvenient. The supplied Logitech descriptions confirm wired operation but do not specify a separate wired audio-resolution or latency claim in the cited material.
How to connect the PRO X3 with LIGHTSPEED
- Locate the supplied USB-A LIGHTSPEED wireless receiver.
- Plug the receiver into an available USB-A port on the host. Logitech’s release identifies USB 2.0-or-later system support for Windows and macOS.
- Turn on the PRO X3 and select the LIGHTSPEED connection according to the headset’s controls.
- On the host, open the sound settings and choose the PRO X3/LIGHTSPEED headset for output and, when you need voice chat, for microphone input.
- Start a game or communication app and verify that both playback and microphone input are assigned to the headset. If the app was already open, close and reopen it so it refreshes its audio-device selection.
For customization, Logitech specifies Logitech G HUB support for a 10-band parametric EQ and BLUE VO!CE microphone controls. The headset also supports 7.1-channel DTS Headphone:X 2.0. Those processing options are separate from the choice between LIGHTSPEED and Bluetooth; changing the radio path does not itself create a new EQ profile.
How to pair the PRO X3 over Bluetooth
- Turn on the headset and switch it to its Bluetooth connection mode using the headset’s controls.
- Open the host’s Bluetooth settings and start adding a new audio device.
- Select the PRO X3 when it appears in the available-device list and complete pairing.
- Set the PRO X3 as the host’s playback device and microphone input if you plan to use calls or voice chat.
- In each game or communications app, check its own audio-device menu. Many applications keep a device choice that is independent of the operating system’s default.
Bluetooth pairing is direct: the USB-A LIGHTSPEED receiver is not required for this mode. The host must provide Bluetooth 5.3-compatible pairing support as specified for the product.
Using the wired connection
To use the headset wired, connect an appropriate cable to the headset and the host’s compatible audio connection, then select the corresponding wired input and output on the host if it does not switch automatically. Wired mode is useful when you want a physical connection or do not want to depend on either wireless radio.

The connection choice is only one part of the PRO X3 specification. Logitech’s product information lists the following capabilities:
- Headphone audio: 24-bit/48 kHz.
- Microphone: 16-bit/48 kHz full-bandwidth capture.
- Drivers: 50 mm PRO-G GRAPHENE drivers.
- Surround processing: 7.1-channel DTS Headphone:X 2.0.
- Battery: up to 70 hours, as stated by Logitech.
- Microphone hardware: detachable omnidirectional microphone.
- Weight: 356 g.
- Software controls: 10-band parametric EQ and BLUE VO!CE microphone controls through Logitech G HUB.
“Up to 70 hours” is a manufacturer-rated maximum, not a guarantee for every volume level, radio mode, microphone setting, or software configuration. Actual endurance can vary with use.
Troubleshooting connection problems
The receiver is not detected
- Confirm that the USB-A receiver is fully inserted.
- Try another USB-A port or a compatible hub or adapter.
- Check that the host meets the USB requirement identified by Logitech for Windows and macOS.
- Make sure the headset is in LIGHTSPEED mode rather than Bluetooth or wired mode.
- Reopen the game or chat application after changing the operating-system audio device.
Bluetooth pairing does not appear
- Verify that the headset is in Bluetooth mode and discoverable.
- Confirm that the host has Bluetooth enabled and supports compatible pairing.
- Remove an old PRO X3 entry from the host’s Bluetooth list if it is stuck, then start pairing again.
- Turn off another nearby device that may be trying to reconnect to the headset.
You hear audio but the microphone does not work
- Choose the PRO X3 microphone as the input device in the operating system.
- Check the individual game or chat app’s input setting; it may not follow the system default.
- Confirm that the detachable microphone is firmly connected and not muted by the headset or application.
- If you use G HUB, review BLUE VO!CE and microphone settings without assuming that an EQ change fixes an input-device selection problem.
The connection seems delayed
First identify the active mode. A headset connected through Bluetooth is not using LIGHTSPEED, even if the USB receiver is nearby. Check the game’s audio settings, operating-system device selection, and any wireless interference or overloaded USB hub. Because Logitech publishes no PRO X3-specific latency measurements, diagnose the actual setup rather than relying on a claimed universal millisecond difference.
Bottom line
LIGHTSPEED on the Logitech G PRO X3 means the dedicated 2.4 GHz wireless link provided by the included USB-A receiver. Bluetooth means direct Bluetooth 5.3 pairing to a compatible host. Use LIGHTSPEED when the receiver is practical and you want the receiver-based gaming connection, Bluetooth when direct pairing is more convenient, and wired mode when you prefer a cable. The headset supports all three, but Logitech’s official PRO X3 material does not publish a numeric latency comparison between them.
