Hyperledger Cacti’s Stellar connector brings Soroban smart-contract operations into a framework designed to connect different distributed ledger networks. Its documented first version supports deploying, initializing, managing, and executing Soroban contracts, and the announcement describes asset bridging between Stellar Soroban and Hyperledger Besu. That is not the same as a verified production bridge: a Stellar–Besu demonstration was described as a prototype, while classic Stellar transactions and more explicit exchange mechanisms were presented as future work.
What is the Stellar connector for Hyperledger Cacti?
Hyperledger Cacti is a modular interoperability framework for applications that need to work with heterogeneous distributed ledger technology (DLT) networks. Its connectors encapsulate ledger-specific communication and operations—such as connecting to nodes, retrieving data, deploying contracts, and submitting transactions—so an application can coordinate across networks without requiring them to share one protocol or governance model. Cheesecake Labs’ technical overview describes the Stellar connector as the component that integrates Stellar with Cacti.
The connector is software infrastructure, not a standalone blockchain or a consumer product. It supplies a Stellar-specific interface within Cacti; applications still need to define and coordinate the cross-network workflow they want to perform.

Documented initial scope: Soroban
The initial connector version focused on Soroban, Stellar’s smart-contract platform. Cheesecake Labs says it supports the Soroban contract lifecycle: deployment, initialization, management, and execution. Development used Stellar Plus, an open-source JavaScript library. The technical article describes the connector as integrated into the Cacti project.

Stellar classic transactions were planned, not confirmed
The May 2024 announcement described support for Stellar classic transactions as a future development direction. The available material does not establish whether that support has since shipped. Nor does it establish a current connector package version or supported ledger-version matrix.
How does Hyperledger Cacti connect Stellar to other blockchains?
Cacti’s connector model lets an application call ledger-specific functionality through modules tailored to each network. The announcement specifically describes asset bridging between Stellar Soroban and Hyperledger Besu. That describes the intended interoperability capability; it should not be read as proof that a production bridge is operating.

In a contributor account published in June 2024, Cheesecake Labs engineer Fabricius Zatti described adapting a Cacti SATP CBDC example, implementing Stellar smart contracts, and demonstrating a prototype that bridged Stellar and Besu. Zatti said the demo was not yet in the Cacti repository at that time and that the team planned to polish it and add it as an example. This is historical prototype evidence, not confirmation of the example’s present availability or a production deployment. Read the contributor account.

Possible applications are illustrative
Cheesecake Labs’ technical article discusses Brazil’s Real Digital (DREX) as a possible scenario involving a Besu-based representation bridged to Stellar. It also sketches cross-network DeFi possibilities, including use of price feeds from Ethereum-based markets and connections between liquidity pools. These are examples of potential uses, not evidence that DREX, those feeds, or those pool integrations have been deployed through this connector.

How was the connector developed and tested?
Zatti’s contributor account says Cacti community member Peter Somogyvari prepared a connector skeleton based on an existing connector, after which Zatti implemented Stellar-specific operations with support from the Cacti community. Zatti reported completing the initial version in a couple of weeks; that is his account of this project’s development, not a general delivery estimate or independently measured benchmark.
The same account describes a standalone test-ledger tool that creates a fresh, Docker-based local Stellar environment with Horizon API, Soroban RPC, and Friendbot. It can also be used independently for local development. A Linux Foundation webinar listing later included the test ledger among its presentation topics.

The 2025 Cacti annual review confirms community collaboration and refers to project releases v2.0.0 and v2.1.0. It also reports that artifact publishing was on hold during an organizational migration. Those details do not identify the connector’s current package version or establish compatibility with particular ledger releases. See the 2025 annual review.
What is known—and not established—about readiness?
The cited material documents initial Soroban functionality, a connector contribution to Cacti, a local test-ledger tool, and a historical Stellar–Besu prototype. It does not provide quantified performance results, production adoption figures, or security audit findings. Cheesecake Labs’ technical article also discusses DVP (Delivery Versus Payment) and HTLC (Hash Time-Locked Contract) concepts as directions for secure asset exchange; the sources do not verify that these mechanisms shipped.
