Colorlib Search Form V12 is a downloadable front-end hotel search form—not a booking engine, hotel directory, or ready-to-use inventory search. Its September 2026 update describes standalone HTML and CSS with a small amount of vanilla JavaScript, so it does not require Bootstrap files, jQuery, or plugins. To return real search results, you must connect the form to your own search route or backend.
What is included in V12?
Colorlib describes V12 as a responsive hotel-search interface with tabs, date fields, a dropdown, and a transparent search box. It is intended as a reusable piece of a hotel website’s interface, rather than a complete site or reservation system.
In its September 2026 update, Colorlib says the download is 1.6 MB, down from the previously reported 24.5 MB. Those are download sizes reported by Colorlib, not independent measurements of performance or page speed.
Does it require Bootstrap?
Despite “Bootstrap” in the template’s title, the September 2026 description says the updated snippet uses plain HTML and CSS plus a few lines of vanilla JavaScript. It can run on its own or be inserted into a project using Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6; the snippet does not require the project to load Bootstrap files. Colorlib also says it no longer needs jQuery or plugins. These details describe Colorlib’s stated update, not an independent audit of the downloadable files.

What does the form do—and what does it not do?
The form presents fields for a visitor to enter search criteria. Colorlib says the date fields use the browser’s native date picker, and the dropdowns are standard select menus whose values are submitted with the form. Those controls collect and send input; they do not find available rooms by themselves.
Colorlib’s guide puts the limitation plainly: “The templates are front end only.” V12 does not supply a hotel inventory, availability lookup, pricing rules, reservation workflow, or payment processing. Those capabilities must come from a backend, booking provider, or other service that your site owner integrates separately.

How do you connect the form to a site’s search?
Set the form’s action to the URL that handles search results, and give each field a name matching the parameter expected by that route. The browser submits those named values using the form’s method. For example, Colorlib’s guide gives a WordPress search pattern using action="/", method="get", and an input named s; that example applies to WordPress’s site search, not automatically to hotel availability.

If those do not match, the form may submit successfully while the results page ignores the values or shows no relevant results. What should you check before using it?
- Search integration: Identify the results URL and required field names before styling or publishing the form. V12 does not provide the receiving search logic.
- Labels: Give each input a visible label or a properly implemented visually hidden label. Colorlib warns that placeholder text disappears as soon as a person types and should not be treated as a label.
- Mobile usability: Colorlib recommends input text of at least 16px on mobile to avoid iPhone zoom. Check the actual rendered form on the devices and browsers your visitors use.
- Overlays: If your implementation places the form in an overlay, provide an obvious way to close it.
- Accessibility claims: These are implementation recommendations from Colorlib’s guide, not evidence that V12 has undergone independent accessibility testing. Do not assume the snippet is accessible without checking your implementation.
What license and attribution does Colorlib specify?
Colorlib’s V12 page lists the CC BY 3.0 license. Its guide says commercial use is permitted and instructs users to retain the Colorlib credit link. Follow that attribution requirement when using the template, including on a commercial site. The license and attribution details here reflect Colorlib’s own published statements.
