Short answer: moving from a Xiaomi phone to an iPhone and keeping two phones connected are different tasks. For a new iPhone, Google’s documented route is Move to iOS during first-time setup. It can transfer selected photos, contacts, messages and other categories shown in the transfer app. For continuing, selective sharing, Xiaomi Interconnectivity can exchange files and provide certain cross-device features when the phones, operating systems, app versions and network meet Xiaomi’s requirements. It is not a complete mirror of both phones.
Xiaomi Cloud Gallery synchronization is no longer available. Xiaomi ended Gallery syncing and the associated transfer/download period in 2023. A current photo workflow uses a service such as Google Photos and the same Google Account on both devices.
Migration, synchronization and sharing are not the same
A one-time migration copies chosen information into a new iPhone. It normally happens while the iPhone is being set up and then stops. Ongoing synchronization keeps selected information available across devices or lets one device share an item with the other. Xiaomi’s current cross-device tools handle particular files and functions, not every account, setting and app database on a Xiaomi phone.
Choose the route based on the result you need:
- New iPhone with data from Xiaomi: use Move to iOS during iPhone setup.
- Photos or calendars already stored with Google: install the relevant Google apps on iPhone and sign in to the same Google Account.
- Occasional file or contact sharing between compatible phones: use Xiaomi Interconnectivity/Xiaomi Share.
- A live copy of Xiaomi Gallery in Xiaomi Cloud: this route has ended.
What each route can handle

Transfer Xiaomi data while setting up a new iPhone
Move to iOS is the most appropriate route when the iPhone is new or is being returned to its initial setup screens. Google’s Android-to-iPhone instructions call the Android-side app Move to iOS and use a “From Android” path on the iPhone.

- Prepare both phones. Charge the Xiaomi and iPhone, turn them on, and connect them to Wi-Fi. Install Move to iOS on the Xiaomi phone. Keep both devices close together for the entire transfer.
- Start the iPhone setup transfer. On the iPhone, choose the Android transfer option, shown in Google’s guide as “From Android,” and then choose “Transfer with app.” Continue until the setup flow is ready to pair with the Android phone.
- Choose a connection. If the exact Xiaomi and iPhone connectors support it, connect them with a suitable USB-C cord. Google describes the cord as more reliable than Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi remains an accepted alternative, so a cable is optional. Do not assume every phone generation uses the same connector; check both models before buying or using a cable.
- Enter the requested code and select categories. Follow the prompts in Move to iOS, authenticate the connection when asked, and select the content categories offered by the app. Google specifically identifies photos, contacts and messages among the transferable content, with additional categories presented in the flow.
- Decide how to handle Google services. If you prefer Google Photos or Google Calendar rather than Apple Photos or Apple Calendar, uncheck the corresponding Apple categories when the transfer screen offers that choice. After setup, sign in to the same Google Account in the Google apps on the iPhone.
- Leave the phones alone until completion. Keep them powered, nearby and on their connection. Interrupting the process can leave the iPhone only partly populated; if that happens, note which categories completed before trying the setup transfer again.
The app’s category list and result determine exactly what arrives. A statement that Move to iOS transfers “more” does not mean that every Xiaomi app, account, setting or proprietary database will be reproduced on iPhone.
If the iPhone is already configured
Google’s guide describes Move to iOS as part of first-time iPhone setup, not as a later background sync. A phone that is already in normal use therefore needs a separate plan: share individual files through Xiaomi Interconnectivity, install Google services for cloud-hosted content, or back up anything important before changing the iPhone’s setup state. Do not expect opening Move to iOS after setup to create a permanent link between the phones.
Use Xiaomi Interconnectivity for selective, ongoing sharing
Standard Apple-device sharing
Xiaomi’s documented standard flow requires Xiaomi Interconnectivity to be installed and running on the Apple device, Bluetooth enabled, and both phones connected to the same local network. Xiaomi specifies a Xiaomi phone running HyperOS 2 or later for the described interconnectivity features.

To send an item, select images or files on the Xiaomi phone, choose Xiaomi Share, and accept the request on the Apple device. For the reverse direction, begin in the Xiaomi Interconnectivity app on the Apple device and send the selected item to the Xiaomi phone. The direction matters because the receiving app and available actions change with it.
Touch to share
Touch to share is a narrower feature with stricter compatibility. Xiaomi’s FAQ specifies all of the following:
- A Xiaomi phone with HyperOS 3 or later and a visible Touch to share setting.
- An iPhone 12 or later running iOS 17 or later.
- The latest Xiaomi Interconnectivity app on the iPhone.
- NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled on both phones.
- Both screens unlocked and on while the exchange starts.
Xiaomi lists photos, videos, files, Wi-Fi passwords, contacts and web pages as supported content for this mode. These are Xiaomi’s compatibility guidelines, not a guarantee that every regional model exposes the setting. If Touch to share is missing, use the standard local-network sharing flow or update the devices and app before troubleshooting further.

Other functions described by the app
The Apple App Store listing for Xiaomi Interconnectivity also describes iPhone notification synchronization to a Xiaomi phone, replies to messages in Xiaomi phone apps, cross-device file sharing, hotspot activation, device finding, contact sharing, browser-data sharing and web-page sharing. Feature additions in the listing’s version history extend through 2025, so the exact controls can change. Check the current app version, permissions and Xiaomi settings on the two phones rather than assuming that every listed function is available on every model.

Xiaomi’s October 25, 2022 notice announced the staged end of Gallery synchronization to Xiaomi Cloud. Depending on region, Gallery syncing stopped during the announced termination period, and the service plus the limited export/download window concluded by July 2023. That one-time window is over; current users should not look for an active Xiaomi Cloud Gallery transfer control.
The same notice said Xiaomi Cloud Contacts, Messaging and Notes synchronization would continue. That statement describes Xiaomi’s service status; it does not establish a general iPhone app that continuously mirrors all of those records. For a Xiaomi-to-iPhone move, use the relevant iPhone-compatible account or app and verify the resulting records rather than treating Xiaomi Cloud as a universal bridge.

The former Xiaomi Cloud Gallery transfer to Google Photos also had an organizational limitation: Xiaomi said the original Gallery album structure was not retained. A current Google Photos workflow can make the photo library available on iPhone when the same Google Account is used, but you should check storage capacity, shared albums and any folders that matter before deleting the Xiaomi copies.

Requirements that commonly decide success
- Setup state: Move to iOS belongs in the iPhone’s initial setup flow; Xiaomi Share is intended for already configured devices.
- Connection: Move to iOS accepts Wi-Fi and Google recommends a compatible cable as the more reliable option. Standard Xiaomi sharing uses Bluetooth plus the same local network.
- Software: Standard interconnectivity requires HyperOS 2 or later on Xiaomi; Touch to share raises that to HyperOS 3 or later and requires iOS 17 or later on an iPhone 12 or later.
- App state: Xiaomi Interconnectivity must be installed and running on the Apple device for the documented standard flow, and Touch to share calls for the latest app.
- Radios and screen: Touch to share needs NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, with both phones unlocked and their screens on.
- Cloud capacity: A Google Photos library still depends on available account storage. Check that before uploading or removing local copies.
Troubleshoot the most likely failures
Move to iOS cannot find or connect to the Xiaomi phone
Confirm that the iPhone is still in the setup transfer path, Move to iOS is installed on the Xiaomi phone, both devices are charged and connected as instructed, and the phones remain near each other. If Wi-Fi repeatedly stalls, use a model-compatible cable; Google identifies the wired method as more reliable. Do not use a cable simply because it has USB-C on one end—verify the connectors and data support for both exact models.
The transfer finishes but some information is missing
Review the categories selected in Move to iOS and distinguish an unselected category from a failed transfer. Content that lives in Google Photos or Google Calendar may be better handled by signing in to those services after setup. Proprietary Xiaomi app data is not promised as a complete iPhone copy.

Xiaomi Share does not show the iPhone
Open Xiaomi Interconnectivity on the Apple device, enable Bluetooth, place both phones on the same local network and confirm that the Xiaomi phone meets the required HyperOS version. Corporate, guest or isolated Wi-Fi networks can prevent local-device discovery even when both phones display the same network name.
Touch to share is unavailable
Check the iPhone model and iOS version, the Xiaomi phone’s HyperOS version, the presence of the Touch to share setting, the latest app, and NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Both screens must be unlocked and on. If one requirement is outside Xiaomi’s stated range, use ordinary Xiaomi Interconnectivity sharing instead.
Photos appear without the old album arrangement
This is consistent with Xiaomi’s description of its former Gallery-to-Google-Photos transfer, which did not preserve the original Gallery album structure. Recreate important albums in the destination service before removing the source library.

Keep the Xiaomi phone intact until you have opened representative photos, checked contact records, found important message threads and confirmed that cloud albums are present on the iPhone. For local sharing, grant only the permissions the app requests for the feature you are using, and avoid sending sensitive files while connected to an untrusted network. A transfer is complete only when the information you actually need is visible and usable on the destination phone.
