Apple’s iPhone Duo launches in two colours: Star White and Night Sky. Star White is the light, neutral finish; Night Sky is the darker, understated option. Earlier reports called the latter indigo or dark blue, but those names are not Apple’s final product names.
iPhone Duo colours at launch
Apple lists only two launch finishes:

There is no announced third colour. Apple’s official launch information does not establish whether either finish will show fingerprints, scuffs or crease-related reflections more clearly; those are questions for independent reviews after retail units are tested.

What the colours are applied to
Both finishes use a Grade 5 titanium enclosure with a mirror-polished surface. The precision hinge is covered by a 3D-printed component with a contrasting micro-blasted finish, so the hinge area is intentionally more matte than the polished frame around it. That contrast is part of the design rather than a separate colour option.
The rear is protected by Ceramic Shield, while the front uses Ceramic Shield 2. Apple says Ceramic Shield 2 offers three-times-better scratch resistance than the previous generation. That is an Apple specification, not an independent laboratory result.

How the foldable display changes the design
Inner screen
Opening the Duo reveals a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display. Apple says this inner panel is 50% larger than the display on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. It supports ProMotion, Always-On functionality and a peak outdoor brightness of 3000 nits.
Outer screen
When closed, the phone uses a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR display. Apple describes that outer screen as providing 90% of the iPhone 18 Pro’s screen area, making it suitable for ordinary phone tasks without opening the device.

Matching proportions and the crease
The two displays use the same aspect ratio. Content can therefore move between the closed and open states without a dramatic change in proportions. The inner panel also has a custom nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and reflections and make the fold crease less noticeable. Apple has not published an independent measurement of how visible the crease is in everyday use.

Hinge engineering and durability
Apple says the precision hinge contains more than 100 components. It controls the folding motion and supports the inner display flat when the phone is open. The iPhone Duo is rated IP68 for splash, water and dust resistance. IP68 is a published protection rating; the available information does not include independent drop, water or hinge-cycle testing, so the rating should not be treated as proof that every real-world accident is harmless.

Which case matches each iPhone Duo colour?
Apple is offering two official accessory designs, with different priorities rather than simply different colours.

The accessories do not duplicate the phone’s launch colours: neither case is sold as Star White or Night Sky. A navy folio or case will coordinate naturally with Night Sky, while sand or taupe creates a higher-contrast pairing with either finish. Claims about relative bulk, grip or long-term wear should wait for hands-on testing.

Release dates, storage and price context
Apple says pre-orders open on October 16, 2026. Availability starts on October 23, 2026 in the initial markets, followed by another group of countries and regions on October 30, 2026. The exact countries in each wave, local stock and accessory availability can vary, so buyers should check Apple’s regional store at the time of ordering.
MacRumors reports a starting price of $1,999 for 256GB, with storage configurations reaching 2TB. That figure is a reported US starting price, not a guarantee of regional pricing, taxes or launch-day inventory.

What is confirmed—and what is not
- Confirmed: the two official colours are Star White and Night Sky.
- Confirmed: Grade 5 titanium, mirror-polished enclosure, contrasting micro-blasted hinge cover, Ceramic Shield back, Ceramic Shield 2 front and IP68 resistance.
- Confirmed: 7.6-inch inner display, 5.4-inch outer display, matching aspect ratios, nano-texture inner surface, ProMotion, Always-On and 3000-nit peak outdoor brightness.
- Not yet established: which colour hides fingerprints or scratches better, how the finishes age, independent crease visibility, drop performance and real-world hinge durability.
- Volatile: regional price, launch-market inventory and the availability of each case colour.
The Bottom Line
If you are choosing by colour, the decision is straightforward: pick Star White for a bright neutral look or Night Sky for a darker, more discreet finish. The bigger design story is the polished titanium frame, contrasting hinge treatment and dual-screen foldable layout—not a larger colour range.
