Users in India can choose ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise, depending on how much model and tool access they need and whether they are working alone or in an organization. Free handles everyday questions and creative work; Go is the lower-cost individual upgrade; Plus and Pro provide progressively higher individual limits; Business and Enterprise add managed workspaces, administration and organizational controls.
Availability, model access, usage ceilings and prices can change. Treat the plan shown in your ChatGPT account and the checkout screen as the final authority for your account and region.
ChatGPT plans available to people in India
OpenAI supports Indian access across six plan categories:
- Free: Basic individual access for everyday prompting, writing, study, planning, coding, image and file analysis, mathematics and web search, with lower or limited allowances for advanced models and tools.
- Go: An individual plan that raises limits for popular tools and adds capabilities beyond Free at a lower price than the higher individual tiers.
- Plus: The mainstream paid individual plan, with expanded limits and broader access to advanced models and tools.
- Pro: A higher-access individual plan for people who use advanced reasoning, voice, deep research and other capacity-intensive features heavily.
- Business: A managed workspace for organizations, with collaboration, administration, connectors and business privacy controls.
- Enterprise: An organization-scale deployment with expanded capacity, security, governance, support and negotiated commercial terms.
Go, Plus and Pro are individual subscriptions. Business and Enterprise are designed for organizational work rather than a personal account with a few extra features.

India billing, prices and payment methods
Go’s India launch price
ChatGPT Go launched in India in August 2025 at ₹399 per month including GST. That was a launch-price figure, not a guarantee of the amount currently shown at checkout. OpenAI subsequently expanded Go globally, so an Indian user should confirm the live INR price before subscribing.

INR, UPI and cards
India is supported for Indian-rupee billing. UPI is currently available for Go and Plus web subscriptions. OpenAI’s billing guidance says UPI is not offered for Pro or Business at this time, so a card is the general fallback for those plans. Enterprise purchasing is handled through sales and invoicing rather than a single public consumer checkout price.

Do not assume that an app-store price, tax treatment or cancellation path is identical to the web subscription.
Monthly billing and the API distinction
Go, Plus and Pro are monthly subscriptions. OpenAI says annual billing and paying several months in advance are not currently supported for these personal plans. ChatGPT subscriptions also do not include API usage: calls made through the API are billed separately under API pricing and account settings.

What you get with each plan
Free: a capable baseline with tighter ceilings
Free is suitable when you use ChatGPT intermittently for brainstorming, drafting, studying, planning, mathematics, coding, image work, file analysis or web searches. It provides access to the service’s everyday experience, but advanced models and tools have lower or limited allowances. Those limits are not necessarily fixed: OpenAI can change them as capacity, products and policies change.
Free is a sensible starting point if you are learning how ChatGPT fits into your work. Upgrade only when a recurring limit, missing tool or unavailable model is slowing you down.

Go: more room for common individual tasks
Go includes the Free experience and expands access to eligible tools. OpenAI describes higher usage limits, more image generation, more file uploads, more advanced data analysis and longer memory. It also provides access to projects, tasks, custom GPTs and Library, subject to current availability and storage limits.
Go is aimed at an individual who needs more headroom for documents, images or analysis but does not need the highest level of access. It is not an API bundle and is not a team workspace. Feature gates can differ by account and can roll out gradually, so check the plan details and model picker after subscribing.
Plus: the general-purpose paid individual tier
Plus expands messaging, file-upload, data-analysis and image-generation limits compared with lower tiers. OpenAI’s comparison describes both standard and advanced voice, deeper research access, more reasoning models, projects, tasks and custom GPTs.
Choose Plus when you use ChatGPT regularly for substantial writing, research, coding, study or multimodal work and need broader access than Go. The exact models, thinking options and allowances available to a particular account can change; the comparison shown in your account is more reliable than an old feature list.

Pro is for an individual who repeatedly needs substantially more capacity. OpenAI lists higher access to advanced reasoning, voice and deep-research capabilities than Plus. That additional capacity matters when you run long or numerous sessions, work with large files, or rely on advanced tools throughout the day.
Pro remains a personal plan, not an administrative workspace. UPI is currently not offered for Pro web checkout, and the billing page supports card payment instead. Because model access and limits are volatile, confirm the current Pro entitlements before treating it as an unlimited service.
Business: a managed workspace for a team
Business is designed for organizations that need people to work in one controlled ChatGPT environment. It provides a secure workspace, collaboration features, administration, connectors to business sources and business privacy controls.
OpenAI’s pricing FAQ says Business plans start at two users. That minimum makes Business materially different from buying two unrelated individual subscriptions: administrators can manage the workspace and apply organizational settings, while members work under the organization’s account structure. Review the current retention, connector and administration details for your workspace before uploading sensitive information.

Enterprise adds the controls expected by larger deployments. OpenAI lists expanded context and file support, enterprise security and controls, domain verification, SCIM, analytics, feature controls, data-residency options, priority support, service-level agreements, custom legal terms and invoicing through sales.
Enterprise availability, data-residency choices, contract language and pricing are negotiated. It should be evaluated as an IT, security and procurement project rather than as a self-serve consumer upgrade.
Feature areas to compare before upgrading
Usage ceilings
Compare limits for messages, file uploads, image generation, voice, deep research and coding separately. A plan may raise one allowance without making every other tool unlimited. Limits can also be dynamic, and OpenAI may adjust them or apply different limits to different models.
Models and reasoning levels
Model availability differs across Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise. New models or thinking levels may roll out gradually, so two accounts on the same nominal plan can temporarily show different choices. Use the model picker and the plan page in your account to see what is enabled for you.
Tools and work surfaces
When comparing tiers, check each of these individually:
- Advanced voice and voice-session access
- Image generation
- File uploads and data analysis
- Projects and tasks
- Custom GPTs and Library
- Deep research
- Coding features, including Codex or Work where applicable
- Connectors to business sources on organizational plans
“Available” can mean different things: a feature may exist but have a lower allowance, require a particular model, be limited by storage, or still be rolling out.
Privacy, administration and governance
Individual plans are centered on one user’s account. Business and Enterprise add workspace-level administration and organizational controls. Business emphasizes collaboration, connectors and business privacy; Enterprise adds broader security, identity, analytics, data-residency and support options. If your requirement is centralized access management, auditability or contractual commitments, compare Business and Enterprise rather than simply buying more individual seats.
Which ChatGPT plan is best for an Indian user?
Choose Free if
- You use ChatGPT occasionally and can wait for a limit to reset.
- Your work is mostly short conversations, drafting, study help or simple planning.
- You are still testing whether advanced tools fit your routine.
Choose Go if
- You frequently hit Free limits for messages, images, files or data analysis.
- You want longer memory plus projects, tasks, custom GPTs or Library without moving to the higher individual tiers.
- You work alone and prefer UPI on the Indian web checkout.
Choose Plus if
- You need regular access to deeper research, reasoning models, advanced voice or larger file and analysis allowances.
- Your workload is substantial but does not justify the highest personal capacity.
- You want to pay on the web with UPI in India.
Choose Pro if
- Advanced reasoning, voice and deep research are central to your daily work.
- You need materially more capacity than Plus and accept card payment for web billing.
- You are an individual power user, not an organization seeking central administration.
Choose Business or Enterprise if
- Multiple people need a shared, managed workspace.
- Your organization needs administration, connectors, privacy controls or identity management.
- You require enterprise security, data-residency options, priority support, SLAs, custom legal terms or invoicing.
How to subscribe or change plans from India
- Sign in to ChatGPT on the web and open the account or plan area. Review the plan’s current feature list, limits and currency before selecting it.
- For Go, Plus or Pro, choose the monthly individual subscription that matches your workload. Do not expect annual prepayment for these personal plans.
- At web checkout, confirm the amount in INR, applicable GST and the available payment methods. UPI is currently offered for Go and Plus; use a supported card for Pro when UPI is unavailable.
- If you subscribe in the iOS or Android app, complete payment through Apple or Google and manage cancellation or billing changes through that store’s subscription settings.
- After activation, open the model picker and tool menus. Confirm that the expected models, voice modes, upload capacity, projects or other features have appeared on your account.
- For Business, start with the workspace setup and add at least two users. For Enterprise, contact sales to define seats, security, residency, support, legal and invoicing requirements.
Common problems and how to avoid them
Expecting the launch price to remain unchanged
The ₹399 Go figure is tied to the August 2025 India launch. Promotions, taxes and later pricing changes can alter the amount shown to you. Check the live checkout rather than relying on an old article or screenshot.
Assuming every feature is unlimited
Paid plans raise access but do not make every model or tool unlimited. Limits can apply independently to messages, images, files, voice, research and coding. When a limit appears, check which tool or model is affected and when access resets.

Confusing ChatGPT subscriptions with API access
A Go, Plus or Pro subscription does not fund API calls. API usage is a separate billing relationship, so developers should budget and configure it independently.
Looking for UPI on the wrong plan
UPI currently applies to Go and Plus web subscriptions. It is not offered for Pro or Business web checkout according to OpenAI’s billing guidance. A card or another supported method may be required.
Comparing an app-store charge with web pricing
Apple and Google manage in-app subscriptions and may present different local-currency displays or billing controls. Compare like with like and cancel through the channel that originally created the subscription.
Assuming two accounts will show identical models
Model and feature rollouts can be gradual. Plan name alone does not guarantee that every account has the same picker on the same day; the current account interface is the practical source of truth.
What to check before you pay
- Is the displayed price in INR and does it include the tax amount you expect?
- Are the specific models and tools you need visible on your account, rather than merely listed in a general comparison?
- Will your normal workload fit the separate message, file, image, voice and research limits?
- Do you need UPI, a card, app-store billing or organizational invoicing?
- Are you buying for one person or do you need workspace administration and privacy controls?
- Have you separated ChatGPT subscription costs from any API budget?
For most individual users in India, the progression is straightforward: start with Free, move to Go when common limits become a recurring problem, choose Plus for broader advanced-tool access, and consider Pro only when the extra capacity is central to your work. Teams should evaluate Business, while organizations with formal security, identity, residency or contractual requirements should discuss Enterprise terms directly.
