Character titles in Tales of Eternia Remastered are collectible achievement labels. They record milestones such as reaching levels, mastering artes or recipes, completing collections, winning minigames, triggering story events and clearing difficult challenges. The available guides do not document any attack, defense, HP, damage or ability bonus from selecting a title, so treat the system primarily as a completion tracker and progression checklist.
The remaster’s October 15, 2026 update also adds Titles to the carryover elements for the second playthrough and beyond. That makes completed titles useful across New Game Plus runs even though a direct combat-stat effect has not been established.
What a character title is
A title is an entry attached to a playable character after that character meets a particular condition. The condition can be routine, such as reaching a level, or highly specialized, such as collecting every Lens, finishing a quiz, earning a large combo or completing a post-game challenge.

English wording can vary slightly between the text box that announces a title and the name shown in the title list. MobilesTalk notes that its labels and requirements follow a Tales Archive database recorded in 2025, so use the in-game list as the final spelling reference when a guide and your menu do not match exactly.
Do titles provide combat-stat bonuses?
No researched source establishes a numerical effect from equipping or selecting a title. The available material does not say that titles raise attack, defense, HP, TP, damage, elemental resistance, arte power or any other combat parameter. It also does not document titles unlocking a new arte or passive ability.
That means the safest interpretation of “What does this title do?” is: it records that you completed a condition and contributes to your overall title collection. If an in-game description later shows a specific stat effect, rely on that description; the current guide evidence is not enough to promise one.

Level milestones
Several titles are awarded simply for advancing a character to a specified level. Reid’s documented sequence starts with Hunter as his default title, followed by Swordsman at level 10, Swordmaster at level 30, Guardian at level 60 and Knight of Legend at level 99. Comparable level ladders appear for Farah, Keele, Chat and Max, while Meredy’s entries include milestones at levels 30, 60 and 99.
Level titles are among the easiest to obtain because they arrive during normal play. If you are pursuing every title, keep all available characters active often enough to avoid leaving one far below the party’s level near the end of the story.

Artes, skills and other mastery
Mastery titles ask you to learn or complete a character’s available abilities rather than merely use them once. RPG Site lists Reid learning every skill and Farah learning all skills. Meredy has a title for creating every spell by fringing, and Keele has one for obtaining all ten Greater Craymels.
These goals can require deliberate experimentation. When a character gains a new system, check the associated menu immediately and note which entries are still missing. Do not assume that finishing the story automatically completes mastery: a title tied to every skill, spell or Greater Craymel can remain locked until the final item is obtained.
Cooking and recipe completion
Several characters have titles connected with mastering every recipe. Recipe goals are best handled throughout the campaign because ingredients and cooking opportunities appear in different locations. Whenever a new town, dungeon or shop becomes available, inspect food-related vendors and keep a record of recipes you have not yet completed.
Because the requirement is described as mastering every recipe, merely owning a recipe may not be sufficient. Confirm completion in the relevant cooking or title menus rather than relying on memory.
Collections and reference books
Collection titles turn optional records into explicit completion targets. Reid’s Lens Hunter requires all 60 Lens. Keele’s Curator is tied to completing the Collector’s Book, while Connoisseur of Creatures requires the Monster Compendium.

These are easy to undercount if you only follow the main plot. Treat every Lens, creature entry and collectible-book page as a separate checklist item, and check the record before starting a final-boss or post-game cleanup session.

Quizzes, minigames and score challenges
The title list covers a wide range of side activities, including Tales quizzes, rafting, Craymel Ball, train bombing, Chamballoon, WHIS, sushi, Ocean Offensive, dance-hall tasks and letter delivery. Some are simple participation goals; others depend on a score, timing window or successful streak.
These titles are usually more efficient when attempted in focused sessions. Learn the rules first, then repeat the activity while keeping the title condition visible in your notes. The remaster’s high-speed Auto mode can reduce routine travel between attempts, but it does not remove the need to meet a minigame’s own score or timing requirement.
Story and event triggers
Some titles unlock only when you visit a place or trigger a character event. Examples include Reid’s Aurora Mage event at Seyfert Observatory, Farah’s Impulsive event in Barole, Meredy’s location-based titles, Keele’s Dr. Mintche return to Mintche University and Max’s Man of Action event at the Ruins of Volt.
Location-based titles deserve special attention because the trigger may not occur during the first mandatory visit. When a guide names a town, university, observatory or ruin, return after the relevant story development and speak to the required people or inspect the area again.

Speed, combo and high-difficulty conditions
The demanding end of the list includes Reid’s Fleet-Footed, Speed of Sound, Lightning Quick and Berserker titles, plus Combo Master for a combo of more than 100 hits. These conditions are better treated as dedicated attempts than as incidental rewards.
Separate normal story progress from challenge runs. Build a save before trying a timed route or 100-plus-hit combo, learn the encounter or route, and retry without risking your main progression file. The guides identify the conditions, but they do not establish that any remaster quality-of-life option changes the underlying requirement.
How many titles are there?
MobilesTalk reports 88 listed title entries in its checklist. Its permanent playable-character breakdown is shown below. The same guide separately tracks two titles for temporary guest character Rassius Luine, so use the in-game title list as the final authority on how the remaster displays the total.

The six permanent-character figures sum to the guide’s 88-entry checklist subtotal. Because Rassius’s two guest entries are presented separately, do not infer a different in-game total from arithmetic alone; compare your menu against the remaster’s own list.

- Open the title list early. Identify which entries are already complete and copy the exact in-game wording for the remaining ones.
- Keep level goals passive. Rotate permanent characters through ordinary battles so level milestones arrive without a separate grinding project.
- Track collections from the start. Maintain counts for the 60 Lens, Collector’s Book and Monster Compendium instead of postponing every collectible until the finale.
- Check each new system immediately. When skills, recipes, fringing or Greater Craymels become available, record the uncompleted entries and revisit them after every major story unlock.
- Schedule event visits. Return to Seyfert Observatory, Barole, Mintche University and the Ruins of Volt when their story conditions are satisfied; also review Meredy’s location-based entries.
- Group minigames together. Complete quizzes, rafting, Craymel Ball, train bombing, Chamballoon, WHIS, sushi, Ocean Offensive, dance-hall and letter-delivery goals in dedicated sessions.
- Reserve challenge titles for prepared saves. Attempt speed conditions and the 100-plus-hit Combo Master goal after learning the route, party setup and encounter pattern.
- Use a later run for cleanup. Since Titles carry over from the second playthrough onward, unfinished optional work can be organized across runs rather than forced into one blind playthrough.
Which titles may be missable?
The available guides identify event, location, speed and guest-character conditions, but they do not provide a definitive “missable titles” flag for every entry. It is therefore safer to treat any title tied to a temporary character, a one-time event or a timed challenge as potentially missable until you verify it in your own save.
Rassius Luine is explicitly temporary and has two separately tracked titles. If you want a complete record, check those entries while the character is available instead of assuming they can be repeated after departure. For event titles, create a manual save before major story transitions and revisit named locations after important scenes.
Remaster features that make title hunting easier
Bandai Namco’s launch announcement lists several convenience features. They improve repetition and navigation, but the available notices do not say that they reduce title requirements or alter unlock conditions.

Titles and New Game Plus
Bandai Namco’s October 15, 2026 update notice states: “Added ‘Titles’ to the carryover elements for the second playthrough and beyond.” In practical terms, the title record is designed to persist into later runs, allowing you to keep completed milestones while pursuing unfinished entries.
This carryover is especially valuable for goals that conflict with a first-time story run. You can finish normal exploration and level milestones in one playthrough, then use a later run for speed routes, high difficulty, minigame scores or any event cleanup that you missed. The notice confirms carryover, but it does not say that every related collection, character level or item also carries over; do not assume those systems share the same rule.
When a title does not unlock
- Check the exact requirement. “Learn every skill,” “create every spell” and “complete the Monster Compendium” are completion conditions, not single-action triggers.
- Confirm the correct character. A party-wide achievement may still belong to one character’s title list.
- Revisit the named location. Event titles can require a return visit after a later story scene rather than the first time you enter.
- Verify the final collectible count. One missing Lens, creature entry, recipe or Greater Craymel can block the title.
- Use the title menu’s wording. Guide translations and announcement text may differ slightly from the label displayed in your version.
- Reload a pre-event save if necessary. For temporary-character or timed conditions, a manual save gives you a controlled retry point.
How to use the title list as a completion checklist
Start with the character filter, then divide unfinished entries into four working groups: passive goals, permanent collections, event or location triggers, and repeatable challenges. Passive goals can run in the background. Collections should be checked whenever you enter a new area. Event entries belong on a travel checklist, while minigame, speed and combo titles deserve dedicated saves and attempts.

Record the date and playthrough in your own notes when a title appears. Because titles carry into later runs, this prevents you from repeating a completed condition and makes it clear which objectives remain for New Game Plus. For the final audit, compare every character—including the two Rassius entries—with the in-game title menu rather than relying only on a guide’s translated labels.
