For DISH’s second-TV setup, use the TV’s own remote or channel buttons to tune to channel 60. If there is no picture, try channel 73; if the TV is usually set to another channel, try that as well. These are tuning channels for the second-TV connection, not DISH programming-network numbers.

What “TV2” means on DISH

In DISH support instructions, “TV2” refers to the second television in a receiver setup. It does not necessarily mean a programming network named TV 2. DISH’s programming lineup is a separate channel-number reference, and its numbers can change. If you mean a specific network called TV 2, look it up by its full name in DISH’s current lineup rather than using the TV2 troubleshooting channels.

Set the second TV to the right channel

  1. Using the original TV remote or the channel buttons on the TV itself, tune to channel 60.
  2. If no picture appears, try channel 73.
  3. If the TV is usually set to a different channel for the DISH connection, try that channel too.

DISH gives these steps for the second-TV connection in its TV2 signal troubleshooting instructions. The source page did not show a publication date in the material available.

If there is still no signal, black screen, or snowy picture

Work through DISH’s checks in order. If the TV is connected through another device, such as a VCR, DVD player, or audio receiver, that device also needs to be powered on and connected.

  • This Remote is compatible with the Hopper family of Recievers, including the Joey and the Wally. Internet connectivity required for full search functionality.

  • Backlit Keys: Your keypad illuminates automatically whenever you pick up your remote in a dark setting.
  • Personalization: Program hot keys to launch an App, record shows, turn on closed captioning, and more.
  • Remote Locator: Simply push a button on your DVR and your remote will beep and blink to help you find it.
  1. Check the receiver light. The green light should be steady. If it is off, press and release the receiver’s power button.
  2. Turn on the equipment in the signal path. Make sure the TV is on, along with any audio receiver, VCR, DVD player, or other device between the TV and DISH receiver.
  3. Check whether the receiver guide appears. On the DISH remote, press SAT, then GUIDE. If the on-screen guide appears, the receiver signal is present; check the TV display or the connection between the receiver and TV.
  4. Check the cable connections. Make sure the cable is hand-tight at the back of the TV and at the wall. If another device sits between the wall and TV, check those connections too.
  5. Restart the receiver. Unplug its power cord for 10 seconds, then reconnect it. DISH says the reset may take up to five minutes.
  6. Get help if the picture does not return. Contact DISH support after completing these checks.

When the DISH channel guide is the right reference

Use the TV’s own channel buttons or original remote to try 60 and 73 for this second-TV connection. Use DISH’s 2026 channel guide when you are looking for the channel number of a programming network. The two lookups answer different questions, so a network’s lineup number will not necessarily resolve a TV2 connection problem.
