ZEISS Optical Inserts are magnetic lenses that sit over the displays inside Apple Vision Pro to correct vision while you use the headset. They come as custom Prescription inserts or preset-power Readers inserts, and are designed exclusively for Apple Vision Pro—not as everyday eyeglasses or contact lenses.
What ZEISS Optical Inserts do
ZEISS describes the inserts as providing clear vision when worn exclusively with Apple Vision Pro. Each insert attaches magnetically over one of the headset’s displays and can be gently lifted out. The left and right inserts are labeled L and R.
They are a headset-specific vision-correction option. They do not replace prescription glasses, reading glasses, or contact lenses outside the headset.
Prescription or Readers: which version fits?
| Version | Intended for | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Prescription | People who need individualized correction based on an eyeglass prescription. | ZEISS requires a valid eyeglass prescription and recommends supplying the latest one. ZEISS says prism correction is not currently available; if your prescription includes prism, confirm options with ZEISS or Apple before ordering. |
| Readers | People whose vision is already well served by off-the-shelf reading glasses in one of the listed powers. | ZEISS lists three spherical-power ranges: +0.75 to +1.25D, +1.50 to +1.75D, and +2.00 to +2.75D. These are product specifications, not a promise of a particular visual result. |
The two versions are not presented as having different performance levels. Choose based on whether you need custom prescription correction or fall within a listed Readers range.

- Attention: Used for Apple Vision Pro only ( Magnetic compatible with official light seal. Not for use while wearing glasses. Note: Only the light‑blocking cover is included; light seal is NOT included. For optical inserts, it is recommended to pair with W+ light seal.)
- Lightweight & Pressure-Relief: Reduces weight and facial pressure while expanding the field of view (FOV)
- Wearing experience notes: This product only partially improves facial pressure (it cannot eliminate it entirely). Facial pressure comes from two main points: cheeks and the nasal bridge, with cheek pressure being significantly greater. No obvious pressure marks were observed after 1 hour of continuous wear.
- Magnetic compatibility: Supports magnetic attachment for the official Apple Vision Pro light seal.
- Optical lens friendly: Works seamlessly with official Zeiss optical inserts; not compatible with direct eyeglass wear
How the inserts attach and pair
- Place the left and right inserts over the corresponding Apple Vision Pro displays, matching the L and R labels.
- If Apple Vision Pro prompts you to pair them, scan the pairing code on the card included in the package.
- If you lose the card, ZEISS says a registered user can retrieve an online version through MyZEISS Vision using the insert serial number.
The package includes the left and right inserts, a printed pairing-code card, packaging with a Quick Start Guide, and Instructions for Use. Apple Vision Pro is sold separately.
Where to buy and what to check first
ZEISS’s US product page directs customers to Apple.com for purchasing options. Availability and ordering requirements can vary by market, so check the current local listing rather than relying on an old availability announcement. ZEISS announced an expansion on 14 June 2024 to Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and the UK beginning that summer; that announcement does not establish present stock or eligibility in those locations.
