Powerbeats Pro 2 uses in-ear earbuds with flexible ear hooks and comes with five eartip sizes. That combination gives you options to adjust the fit for movement, but comfort and security still depend on your ears. TechRadar names it the top overall pick in its 2026 workout-headphone roundup; that is the roundup’s editorial judgment, not a guarantee that it will suit every listener.

Bose Sport Open Earbuds use a cuff-like design that does not block the ear. Bose says they have no noise cancelling and are designed to help listeners remain aware of their surroundings. That makes them a relevant alternative for outdoor workouts or anyone who dislikes an in-ear seal; it also means they are not the choice for noise isolation.

Bose lists physical controls and describes the model in its September 17, 2026 announcement and Sport Open product page. The available evidence does not establish a direct head-to-head test of this model against Powerbeats Pro 2.

What do IPX4 and IP54 mean for a workout?
An IP rating describes a product’s tested resistance under specified conditions; it is not a promise that the product is waterproof. Beats lists Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds as IPX4. Apple’s safety guidance says they are not designed for swimming or showering, and the charging case is not water resistant. Apple also warns that resistance can decline through normal wear. Bose lists Sport Open at IP54. That rating should not be treated as permission to submerge the earbuds or use them for swimming. Neither model should be selected as a swimming headphone based on the ratings listed here.

How to choose for your workout
- For a secure in-ear style: consider Powerbeats Pro 2, then check whether the ear hooks and one of its five tip sizes feel comfortable and stable for you.
- For awareness of nearby sounds: consider Bose Sport Open. Its open-ear design leaves the ear unblocked, but does not provide noise cancelling.
- For longer sessions: compare the battery figure for the mode you expect to use. Powerbeats Pro 2’s stated total is lower with ANC and Transparency enabled than in Adaptive EQ mode.
