The OnePlus 16 is officially available in China, but current reporting says it is not sold in the United States or Europe, while Indian availability remains uncertain. That makes this poll about access as much as hardware: would you buy one if importing were your only practical route?
First question: can you actually buy a supported OnePlus 16?
OnePlus has published a China product page and launch information for the phone. Outside China, availability is the central uncertainty. Buyers in the US and Europe should assume they will need to import, and prospective Indian buyers should verify local availability before making plans.

An imported handset can differ from a locally sold flagship in network-band support, software language and services, warranty coverage, return rights, charging accessories and after-sales repair. A low headline price can therefore become a poor deal if the seller is unauthorized or the phone lacks the bands and Google services you need.
Why the specification sheet is unusually ambitious
The OnePlus 16 targets the top end of the 2026 Android market with a combination of display speed, battery capacity and camera hardware that is rare even among flagship phones.

Battery and charging are the clearest reasons to vote yes
OnePlus lists the phone’s dual-cell battery as equivalent to 9,000mAh, alongside 100W wired charging. PhoneArena also reports 50W wireless charging. For travelers, heavy gamers and people who routinely finish a day with low battery, that combination is more meaningful than a small benchmark advantage.
The trade-off is practical rather than theoretical: a battery this large may affect thickness and weight, and charging speeds require compatible hardware. The published capacity is an equivalent figure for a dual-cell design, not a promise of a particular number of hours for every user.
What the 165Hz and 185Hz display figures do—and do not—promise
The system can run at up to 165Hz, while OnePlus says supported games can reach 185Hz. That can make animation and touch response feel smoother, but the benefit depends on game support, sustained performance, temperature and whether you can distinguish the difference from 120Hz or 144Hz. It is a feature for enthusiasts, not a guarantee of better graphics or longer battery life.

The 200MP f/1.6 main camera is joined by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 3× telephoto, with a 50MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Resolution alone does not establish image quality; processing, stabilization and low-light performance will determine how the system compares with your current phone. The 256GB, 512GB and 1TB UFS 4.1 choices are easier to evaluate: choose 512GB or 1TB if you keep large games or record substantial video and cannot rely on cloud storage.
China pricing changes the import decision
| Configuration | China price reported for 2026 |
|---|---|
| 12GB RAM / 256GB storage | CNY 5,999 starting price |
| 16GB RAM / 1TB storage | CNY 8,499 reported top-model price |
Those are China prices, not delivered prices in another country. Add shipping, taxes, exchange-rate costs, seller margin and any warranty or return risk before comparing the phone with a locally supported flagship. A cheaper import is only cheaper if the unit is genuine, compatible with your carrier and repairable when something goes wrong.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use this checklist before importing
- Verify the seller. Confirm that the listing identifies the exact China model and provides a verifiable return process.
- Check network bands. Compare the model’s supported bands with your carrier, including 5G bands rather than relying on a generic “unlocked” label.
- Confirm software. Ask whether the device uses the China software build, which languages are available, whether Google services work as expected and how updates are delivered. The China model is associated with ColorOS 17/Android 17 software; global support should not be assumed.
- Read warranty terms. Establish whether repairs are handled in your country or require international shipping.
- Calculate the landed cost. Include tax, shipping, payment fees and a possible return shipment before deciding that CNY 5,999 is a bargain.
- Confirm charger compatibility. Check the included plug and whether a suitable 100W charger is supplied or must be purchased separately.
Cast your vote: what would decide it for you?
Vote “yes” if the 9,000mAh-equivalent battery, 100W/50W charging, high-refresh display or camera system outweighs import complications and the China-only price context. Vote “no” if local warranty, guaranteed Google-service support, carrier compatibility or predictable returns matter more than headline specifications. The most useful poll response should name the deciding factor: battery, display, camera, performance, price or regional support.
Bottom line: The OnePlus 16 is compelling on paper, but outside China the purchase is inseparable from import risk. It is an easy poll “yes” for enthusiasts who can verify a compatible, supported unit; for everyone else, availability and after-sales coverage should come before the specification sheet.
