Webjet Travel Safe Plus International is a single-trip travel insurance policy for eligible Australian residents whose journey starts in Australia. The current policy documents, effective 25 March 2026, name Zurich Australian Insurance Limited as insurer and Cover-More Insurance Services as the providing entity and administrator. Its headline medical and cancellation limits are unlimited, but payment depends on policy terms, exclusions, sub-limits and your Certificate of Insurance.
Who can buy this policy?
The current International plan is for eligible Australian residents. The journey must start in Australia, and the traveler must be 75 or younger when the policy is issued. The PDS describes it as cover for one journey, not an annual multi-trip policy. Check the eligibility rules, trip dates and other requirements in the current Combined FSG/PDS and your Certificate of Insurance before buying.
What does Webjet Travel Safe Plus International cover?
The current benefit table sets the following limits. These are maximum policy benefits, not guarantees that every expense or loss will be paid; conditions, exclusions and sub-limits apply. The PDS and your certificate determine how a particular claim is assessed.

COVID-19 benefits
The PDS lists COVID-19-related benefits in specified circumstances: cancellation before departure up to $10,000 per policy, overseas medical expenses listed as unlimited, on-trip amendment or cancellation up to $10,000 per policy, and additional transport and accommodation expenses up to $5,000 per person. These benefits have eligibility rules and other policy conditions; the listed amount alone does not establish that a claim is covered.

Is cancellation cover included?
The benefit table lists amendment or cancellation costs as unlimited, but cover is not an unconditional refund for any reason. It applies only to insured travel dates and circumstances covered by the policy. Webjet’s support guidance says cancellation cover, when selected, begins when the policy is purchased. Read the covered-event definitions and exclusions before relying on it for prepaid bookings.
When does cover start?
Webjet’s support information says that if cancellation cover is selected, it begins on purchase; full cover begins on departure or the certificate’s travel-start date, whichever is later. If you buy after you have departed, a three-day no-cover period applies to events that have already happened or arise during the first three days.
Webjet also describes a 21-day cooling-off period, subject to conditions including that the trip has not started and that you have not made, or intend to make, a claim. Confirm the applicable conditions in the policy documents and support information before cancelling.

How are existing medical conditions treated?
The policy does not automatically cover claims related to or made worse by an existing medical condition unless it qualifies for automatic inclusion under the PDS’s criteria or has otherwise been assessed and accepted. The PDS lists conditions that may be automatically included, but each condition’s detailed criteria must be met. If yours does not qualify, Webjet’s support guidance says to declare it for assessment. Acceptance may affect both the premium and cover; do not assume that declaring a condition by itself means it is insured.

Baggage claims
Claims require proof of ownership and documentation of the incident. The PDS excludes valuables checked in with a transport provider unless security rules required it. It also sets specific limits for items left unattended in vehicles and excludes items left in a vehicle overnight. Review those rules alongside the overall baggage limit and per-item caps.
Activities
The PDS lists some activities as included, but restrictions apply. For example, motorcycle or moped riding and on-piste snow sports have conditions. Check the wording for the exact activity, equipment, circumstances and level of participation rather than assuming every adventure activity is covered.

Who provides and distributes the insurance?
Zurich Australian Insurance Limited (ZAIL) is named as insurer in the current PDS. Cover-More Insurance Services Pty Ltd is the providing entity and administrator, while Webjet promotes and distributes the policy. Webjet’s terms state that it receives commission for promoting and distributing the insurance; they also describe its advice as general rather than tailored to an individual’s needs. Read the policy documents and consider whether the cover fits your circumstances.
How to assess whether it fits your trip
Compare the policy against your itinerary and likely exposures, not just its headline limits. For a useful like-for-like comparison with another policy, use the same traveler and trip details and check:
- Medical and evacuation cover, including any time limit on medical expenses.
- Cancellation limits, whether cancellation cover is selected, and which events qualify.
- The excess and the overall and per-item baggage limits, especially for electronics and valuables.
- How your existing medical conditions are assessed.
- Rental-car excess terms and restrictions on planned activities.
- Eligibility, maximum trip duration and the dates when cover starts.
- The quoted premium for the same traveler and itinerary.
The publicly visible CHOICE listing uses the name “Webjet Travel Safe Plus International,” but its expert rating and scores are behind membership. It does not establish a public score or recommendation. For policy facts, use the current dated PDS and your own certificate rather than relying on older review specifications.
Documents to check before buying or claiming
Webjet says its Combined FSG/PDS sets out what is and is not covered, limits, conditions and claims-process information, and warns that sub-limits and exclusions apply. Read it together with your Certificate of Insurance, which records the cover selected and trip-specific details. The documents may change, so confirm that you have the current version before purchase and keep the certificate and relevant evidence for any claim.
