We Work Remotely (WWR) publishes a public RSS feed of remote-job listings and asks users to attribute links back to WWR. Developers can subscribe to all jobs or choose category feeds; the main implementation hazards are overlapping listings, escaped HTML in descriptions, valid feeds with no items, and compensation that appears only as unstructured text.

What the public WWR feed provides

WWR’s all-jobs RSS feed is available for public use. Its official RSS page asks users to attribute links back to We Work Remotely when using the feed. The page offers an all-jobs feed and category-specific feeds, but does not document a detailed XML schema in the material reviewed.

The official page displayed a sitewide counter of 42,308 remote jobs posted when accessed on October 7, 2026. That mutable counter is not the number of entries in the RSS feed.

Choose one broad feed or several category feeds

The all-jobs endpoint is the straightforward choice when you want broad coverage and plan to filter locally. Category feeds narrow the subject area. The official RSS page lists Customer Support, Product Jobs, Full-Stack Programming, Back-End Programming, Front-End Programming, All Programming, Sales and Marketing, Management and Finance, Design, DevOps and System Admin, and All Other.

On September 25, 2026, Dodo Data counted 80 items in the newest-jobs feed and 253 distinct jobs across twelve feeds. Those are measurements of that snapshot, not feed limits or guarantees about current contents, ordering, or retention. Combining categories may broaden what you collect, but it also means more duplicate handling.

Four parser traps to handle

1. The same listing may appear more than once

A September 25, 2026 inspection by Dodo Data found a listing in multiple feeds and one duplicate within the newest feed. If you aggregate subscriptions, inspect actual link and guid values, then deduplicate using a stable identifier. A listing URL may be useful, but confirm its behavior in the live feed before treating it as canonical; normalize URLs cautiously so distinct records are not accidentally collapsed.

2. Description markup may be escaped HTML

Dodo Data’s sample showed HTML markup escaped inside the XML description value. Parse the XML with an XML/RSS parser first; then, if the decoded description contains HTML, sanitize it for rendering or extract text according to your output needs. Do not strip tags from raw XML with a regular expression. This is an observed field behavior, not a schema promise, so check current records rather than assuming every description uses the same encoding.

3. A valid feed can contain zero items

Dodo Data reported that the Front-End Programming feed was empty in its snapshot and distinguished that from a response that was not RSS. As the article put it, “An empty feed is a valid answer, not an error.” Validate HTTP success and feed parse validity separately from the number of entries. Category contents change, so an empty result alone does not establish a transport or parsing failure.

4. Salary is not a structured field in the inspected snapshot

Dodo Data found no dedicated compensation field in the feed it inspected. Some listings included ranges in free-text descriptions: 78 of 253 inspected descriptions contained a compensation range in the September 25, 2026 snapshot. Treat any extraction from description text as best-effort; keep values unknown when a range is missing or ambiguous rather than presenting text extraction as complete salary data.

A practical ingestion workflow

  1. Fetch the documented endpoint. Start with the all-jobs URL or the category RSS links on WWR’s official page.
  2. Check the response and parse separately. Record HTTP or transport failures, invalid RSS/XML, and a valid feed with zero items as distinct outcomes.
  3. Parse XML before handling description content. Use a real XML/RSS parser to decode XML entities; then sanitize HTML for display or extract plain text as needed.
  4. Inspect identifiers before aggregating. Compare the current link and guid values across records, choose a stable deduplication key, and normalize URLs only when appropriate.
  5. Store observation times. Keep timestamps with ingested listings so changing feed contents are not mistaken for a stable archive or retention policy.
  6. Attribute links when republishing. This follows WWR’s request for public-feed use.

Keep the RSS feed distinct from WWR’s posting API

The public RSS feed is for consuming job listings. WWR separately directs employers interested in posting through its API to contact the company, and its READ API documentation says a special token is required for API access. That employer-facing API is not a prerequisite for reading the public RSS feed.
