To fix Warzone’s “GPU Driver Version Outdated” error, first identify your graphics card and installed driver, then match the update to your GPU model and device type. Activision’s PC troubleshooting page, displayed as updated March 11, 2026, lists different recommended drivers for AMD, NVIDIA desktop, NVIDIA notebook, NVIDIA workstation, and Intel graphics. If your driver already matches the applicable recommendation, check game compatibility, finish shader preloading, and repair the game files instead of repeatedly installing drivers or assuming you need a new graphics card.
Check which GPU and driver Warzone is using
Before downloading anything, find the graphics adapter and driver version installed on your PC. Blizzard Support documents using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (DxDiag) to inspect this information.
- Press Windows key + R, type
dxdiag, and press Enter. - If prompted, allow DxDiag to check for signed drivers.
- Open the Display tab and note the graphics device name and driver version. If the computer has multiple display tabs or adapters, check each one.
A PC with integrated and dedicated graphics may have more than one adapter. Confirm Warzone is using the dedicated GPU if the system has one; updating a driver for an adapter the game is not using may not address the warning. Blizzard Support explains how to check graphics details with DxDiag.

Activision’s Warzone PC troubleshooting page displays the date 03/11/26, interpreted here as March 11, 2026. It lists the following recommendations. Driver releases change, so check Activision’s page again before installing and select the entry that matches both your GPU and device class.

These are version identifiers, not a guarantee that one driver will suit every product from a manufacturer. Activision’s Warzone PC troubleshooting and requirements page is the source for its listed recommendations. For laptops and prebuilt PCs, the manufacturer may customize drivers; Intel advises checking the computer maker’s support page for those packages, or using Intel’s Download Center for a generic Intel driver. Avoid third-party driver-download sites.
Install the matching driver
- Use the GPU maker’s official driver page, or the computer maker’s support page if the system uses an OEM-customized package.
- Select the exact GPU model and the correct device category, such as desktop, notebook, or workstation. For NVIDIA Maxwell or Pascal hardware, account for Activision’s note that official Game Ready Driver support has ended and its listed last recommendation is 581.80.
- Download and install the matching package, following its installer prompts. Restart Windows if the installer asks you to.
- Run
dxdiagagain and check the Display tab to confirm the installed driver version changed as expected.
If the warning remains after the correct driver is installed, continue with the checks below. A current driver cannot make an unsupported GPU or operating system compatible.

Check Warzone and Windows compatibility
Activision says Warzone supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 and recommends keeping either operating system current. It does not support Windows 7 or Windows 8. Check Activision’s current minimum requirements for the specific Warzone release and your GPU before treating a driver update as the solution.
Intel’s article for Warzone 2.0 says Intel integrated graphics are unsupported, based on Activision’s website at the time. That article was last reviewed January 12, 2023, and concerns Warzone 2.0; it should not be taken as a blanket statement about every later Warzone release. Intel’s Warzone 2.0 driver-error guidance also reproduces the message: “Your GPU driver version does not meet the minimum requirements for running Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. To ensure best performance, go to the manufacturer’s website to download and install the latest drivers.” That wording is specific to the historical Warzone 2.0 message; current releases may differ.

Finish shader preloading
After starting Warzone, let shader preloading finish before entering a match. Activision warns that leaving the main menu stops preloading and can cause performance issues. This is a follow-up step for launch or performance trouble; it is not a substitute for installing a driver that matches your GPU.

Use Activision’s Scan and Repair option for the game. Let the scan complete, then launch Warzone and check whether the warning or related problem remains.

Steam
Verify the integrity of Warzone’s game files through Steam, then retry the game. Activision also advises disabling programs that may interfere with Steam if verification or launching is affected.

Investigate software conflicts only if the problem persists
Activision lists several conditional troubleshooting actions for continuing PC issues. These are not proof that any one program causes the driver warning; try the relevant action only if you use the software or have a related symptom.
- If antivirus software is interfering with the game, add the Warzone game folder to its exceptions.
- Update Razer Synapse if you use it.
- Temporarily disable NZXT CAM, MSI Afterburner, or Razer Cortex while testing for conflicts.
- Perform a Windows clean boot to isolate startup software that may be interfering.
- If ASLR has been disabled and the game will not start, re-enable it.
For continued crashes, Activision provides a PC crash report route on its troubleshooting page. If Intel’s driver and compatibility checks do not resolve a Warzone 2.0 issue, Intel advises contacting Activision Support.
