Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, the first official Warrior Cats video game, is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026. Trailmark Games is developing the turn-based role-playing game in collaboration with Coolabi, with versions announced for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
What is Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest?
Clans of the Forest is a turn-based RPG built around the world of the Warrior Cats books. The game gives players four original campaigns, one for each warrior Clan: ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan and WindClan. Erin Hunter wrote the four storylines exclusively for the game, so they are new adventures rather than a direct retelling of an existing novel.
You begin as an apprentice and develop a cat while dealing with Clan duties and a new prophecy. The official announcement describes training, exploration, border defense, hunting to feed the Clan, encounters with characters from the books and a cat creator for building a unique protagonist.
“Train as an apprentice in a Clan struggling under the weight of a new prophecy – explore iconic locations from the Warrior Cats series; hone your skills in battle as you defend your borders and hunt to feed your Clan; meet beloved characters from the books; design your own unique cat; and follow the destiny StarClan has laid out for you.”

How the gameplay is expected to work
Four Clan campaigns
Each Clan has its own storyline, giving the game four campaign paths rather than one shared scenario. The publisher says these stories were written exclusively by Erin Hunter. The announcements do not specify campaign length, whether progress carries between Clans or whether the stories can be played in any order.
Six locations to explore
Nintendo’s listing names six locations: ThunderClan territory, RiverClan territory, ShadowClan territory, WindClan territory, the Moonpool and the Island. These areas connect the game to recognizable places from the series while providing settings for quests, travel and Clan activities.
Turn-based combat and 75 combat moves
Nintendo lists 75 unique combat moves. Battles are turn-based, so players can choose actions rather than relying on real-time reflexes. Xbox also highlights Clan exploration, cat customization and the ability to build a personal legacy. The published listings do not yet explain party size, difficulty settings, status effects or how moves are unlocked.

Nintendo describes asynchronous visits to friends’ camps. This indicates that players can view or interact with friends’ camp creations without requiring simultaneous multiplayer, although the listing does not define the exact activities available during a visit. It also mentions procedurally generated characters, quests and stories, suggesting that some encounters vary from one playthrough to another.
Book characters and cat creation
Nine cats from the book series are listed as appearing in the game. Players can design their own cat, and the preorder and expansion details confirm that appearance customization is a significant part of the experience.

- Choose by platform first if you already own a preferred console or want the PC version through Steam or the Epic Games Store.
- Check regional pricing because the $29.99 and $14.99 figures come from Steam’s listing and are not a worldwide price guarantee.

What has not been confirmed yet
The official announcements establish the release date, platforms, major activities, editions and preorder bonus, but they do not provide tested performance benchmarks, review scores, campaign-length estimates, accessibility feature lists, multiplayer details beyond asynchronous camp visits, or confirmation of physical Amazon availability. They also do not establish a physical edition, launch-day patches, console resolution and frame-rate targets, or whether progress transfers between platforms.
For now, the clearest expectation is a single-player-focused, turn-based Warrior Cats adventure with four original Clan stories and optional social camp visits. More technical and purchasing details may depend on the individual storefront listing as launch approaches.
