The fastest reliable route to Driver and tank progression in WARDOGS is logistics. Start as soon as the URAL becomes available, move supply pallets from headquarters to a friendly forward operating base (FOB), transport teammates toward active objectives, and keep the spawn APC useful. Run those jobs around the active Control Zone and its Hot Zone, where extra cash helps fund vehicles. Do not treat old tank charts or exploit shortcuts as authoritative: Season 2 changed the progression table, and a Driver-fix patch on October 15, 2026 changed what older guides can safely claim.
How WARDOGS progression is organized
WARDOGS has six separate role tracks: Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver and Pilot. It also has an overall WARDOG/Career level. The role tracks are the important distinction for tank hunting. XP earned while playing Driver advances Driver; it does not transfer to Medic, Assault or another role. A high Career level therefore does not replace the role level required for a vehicle or item.
There is no single universal “tank XP” pool. Before a match, decide which role unlock you are pursuing, select that role, and keep your actions aligned with it. If the unlock screen lists a vehicle under Driver, combat score earned on another role will not move that requirement.

| 30 | 318,200 XP | Cumulative total from the Season 2 progression table |
| 35 | 525,000 XP | Cumulative total from the Season 2 progression table |
These checkpoints show the scale of the climb, but they do not tell you how many supply deliveries, revives or kills are needed. No authoritative current table assigns XP to each individual action, so any guide promising an exact “XP per pallet” or a definitive action ranking is presenting information that is not established by the current sources.
Tank unlock levels can differ between sources
Season 2’s table places the SPH-2 at Driver level 31. A September Driver guide instead lists the L2A6 at level 35. Those statements may describe different versions of the unlock list, and the October 15, 2026 patch specifically fixed Driver progression and an exploit that exposed tanks too early. An older screenshot or guide can therefore be internally accurate for its date while being wrong for your current build.
Use the in-game unlock screen as the final authority
- Open the Driver role progression page from the main progression or loadout interface.
- Select the vehicle or tank you want to inspect.
- Read the level requirement shown on that screen rather than relying on a third-party chart.
- Check again after a seasonal update or hotfix, especially if your displayed requirement conflicts with a September or earlier guide.
The practical target is the level displayed by your installed Season 2 build. Do not grind toward level 35 solely because an old guide says so, and do not assume level 31 unlocks every tank simply because the SPH-2 appears there.
The most dependable Driver XP loop
A September Driver guide lists the URAL at Driver level 3, making it the first major logistics milestone to plan around. Once it is available, use a repeatable delivery route instead of waiting for a rare combat opportunity.
1. Reach the URAL milestone
Play Driver from the beginning of your progression push. Before the URAL is available, take the safe Driver actions the match presents and avoid switching roles if the purpose of the match is to build Driver XP. The exact pre-URAL payout is not documented, so the goal is to reach the vehicle without assuming a hidden bonus.

2. Load a supply pallet at headquarters
At HQ, collect a supply pallet and confirm that it is secured to the vehicle. Logistics works best when you have a destination before leaving: identify a friendly FOB that is being built, repaired or actively used rather than driving a crate into an empty corner of the map.
3. Coordinate the drop with builders
Tell the players at the FOB that a delivery is coming. Builders can use the supplies immediately, reducing the chance that the pallet sits unused while you make another trip. This coordination is not an advertised multiplier; it simply makes each run more purposeful and keeps the route connected to the team’s current position.

4. Transport players toward the objective
When teammates need a ride, take them toward an active objective instead of making an isolated sightseeing loop. Player transport, supply delivery and maintaining the spawn APC are all documented Driver activities. The sources do not publish a current payout for any one of them, so choose the action that is safest and most likely to be completed.
5. Keep the spawn APC useful and alive
Position the spawn APC where teammates can use it without exposing it to an unnecessary ambush. A living, well-placed spawn point creates repeated transport demand and keeps you contributing even when no pallet is ready. Do not park it in the middle of the fight merely to chase a possible combat award.
6. Run the route around the active zone
Use the current Control Zone as your logistics corridor. The Hot Zone moves inside that broader battle and can make a route financially attractive because it grants extra cash. It is not separately documented as a Driver-XP multiplier, so treat the cash as a way to pay for more vehicle use, not as proof that every action there awards double Driver XP.

7. Take combat XP only when it is incidental
Vehicle kills and turret kills may add XP, but they are opportunistic. If a safe supply delivery is available, abandoning it to hunt an uncertain kill can reduce your completed logistics work and expose the vehicle. Fire when the target is on your route and the risk is reasonable; do not rebuild your entire progression plan around an unverified payout.

Current descriptions document one primary three-faction Control Zone match, sometimes characterized as a King of the Hill-style battle, rather than a set of independently documented XP modes. The Hot Zone is a roaming sub-zone within that match.
| Layer | Documented rules | Progression implication |
|---|---|---|
| Control Zone | Three factions contest the zone; the Field Guide describes 100 Match Points as the win condition. | Use the broad objective to find transport demand, FOB work and safe supply routes. |
| Hot Zone | Players inside count twice toward faction control and receive extra cash. | Rotating logistics near it can fund repeated vehicles and loadouts; a separate Driver-XP multiplier is not documented. |
Because the Hot Zone is a layer inside Control Zone, do not expect separate mode-specific XP tables. The advice is to adapt your route to where the objective and your faction’s spawn network are active, not to queue for a supposedly superior XP playlist that the current documentation does not establish.
How the six roles compare for progression planning
Each role has a different action pattern. The table separates what is documented from what remains unknown, so you can choose a track without mistaking a playstyle description for a guaranteed payout.
| Role | Actions that feed the role | Unlock focus | Repeatability and safety | Cash or coordination considerations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assault | Combat actions. | Assault equipment; individual item levels are not stated in the current sources. | Repeatability depends on finding fights and surviving them; exact action XP is not stated. | Usually less route planning than logistics, but exposure to combat is higher. |
| Medic | Healing and reviving teammates. | Medic equipment; individual unlock levels are not stated. | Reliable when the squad is taking damage, but dependent on teammates being nearby. | Coordination matters more than vehicle spending; exact payouts are not stated. |
| Support | Building, supplying and anti-vehicle work. | Support equipment; individual unlock levels are not stated. | Building and supply work can be repeated around an active FOB; anti-vehicle actions carry combat risk. | Strongly tied to the team’s construction needs; exact cash and XP costs are not stated. |
| Recon | Spotting and combat/observation actions. | Recon equipment; individual unlock levels are not stated. | Can be safer at distance, but depends on useful targets and lines of sight. | Less vehicle expense than Driver; squad communication improves the value of spotting. |
| Driver | Transporting players, delivering supply crates, maintaining the spawn APC and other safe vehicle actions. | Vehicles and tanks, including the version-dependent SPH-2 and L2A6 entries. | Logistics routes are the most repeatable documented loop; vehicle survival determines how often you can repeat them. | Vehicle use costs cash; Hot Zone income can help fund more attempts. FOB and squad coordination are valuable. |
| Pilot | Air-vehicle and transport-oriented actions; a current per-action XP list is not stated. | Pilot equipment and aircraft; individual unlock levels are not stated. | Depends on aircraft availability, safe flight paths and team demand. | Likely coordination-heavy; do not assume Driver XP transfers to Pilot. |
The table is a planning aid, not a hidden XP chart. The documented distinction is that Driver and Pilot are logistics-oriented, Assault and Recon are combat or spotting-oriented, Medic focuses on healing and revives, and Support combines building, supply and anti-vehicle work.

Cash management for a logistics match
Hot Zone participation gives extra cash, while vehicle use and loadout choices consume resources. Since the sources do not publish a current price list or a cash-to-XP conversion, manage the economy around completed work rather than buying a vehicle for a speculative bonus.
- Choose a route that begins near HQ and ends at a friendly FOB or active objective, limiting deadhead travel.
- Use Hot Zone rotations when they are compatible with a safe delivery route, because the extra cash can support subsequent vehicle use.
- Keep the spawn APC alive instead of repeatedly replacing it after unnecessary pushes.
- Reserve risky combat attempts for moments when they protect a delivery or objective.
- Coordinate with builders and passengers before committing the vehicle, so a paid trip has a clear team purpose.
A practical match plan for Driver progression
- Set the target. Check the current Driver unlock screen and note the next level or vehicle requirement.
- Build the route. Identify HQ, a friendly FOB and the active Control Zone before taking a pallet.
- Complete useful logistics. Deliver supplies, transport players and position the spawn APC where it will be used.
- Follow the zone. Shift the route as the Control Zone or Hot Zone moves, but do not enter a dangerous area solely because it is highlighted.
- Protect the vehicle. Withdraw when the route becomes untenable; a surviving vehicle enables another documented Driver action.
- Review the unlock screen after the match. Confirm that the role level changed and compare the displayed requirement with the current vehicle entry, not an old guide.
This plan deliberately favors completed, repeatable work over a theoretical maximum. Because no current source ranks individual action payouts, route completion and vehicle survival are better decision criteria than chasing an unverified number.

BULKHEAD said that “Levels 10 to 20 were a slow grind” in Season 1 and that reaching level 20 in Season 2 takes less than half the playtime. The published totals reflect that redesign, with level 10 at 25,000 XP and level 20 at 111,500 XP. The reduction applies to the progression curve; it does not create a universal multiplier for every Driver action.
Bulkhead also removed a Blue-team XP and cash bonus. If an older strategy depends on being assigned to Blue for extra rewards, it is no longer a sound Season 2 assumption.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

On October 15, 2026, Bulkhead announced a fix for Driver progression and for an exploit that allowed players to reach tanks too early. PC Gamer reported 24-hour bans and cash/XP wipes for clear abuse. Legitimate logistics is slower than an exploit, but it protects the progress you are trying to keep.

Common progression problems and how to respond
My Driver level is not advancing
First confirm that Driver is the active role. XP is role-specific, so a match spent healing, spotting or fighting under another role will not satisfy a Driver requirement. Then use clearly documented Driver actions—transport, supply delivery or spawn-APC support—and verify the level after the match.
A tank appears at a different level than a guide says
Check the in-game unlock screen and the date of the guide. The SPH-2 level-31 entry and the September guide’s L2A6 level-35 entry are not interchangeable, and the October 15 fix makes old tables especially risky.
The Hot Zone did not double my XP
The documented double benefit is faction-control contribution: players inside count twice. The Hot Zone also grants extra cash. A separate Driver-XP doubling rule is not documented, so judge the area by its objective value, cash and route safety.
I am tempted by an early-tank shortcut
Do not use exploits. The October 15 fix targeted early tank access, and reported penalties included temporary bans and removal of cash and XP. Follow the displayed level requirement and earn progress through normal role actions.
Bottom line for unlocking tanks
Play Driver consistently, begin the URAL logistics loop at Driver level 3, deliver supplies to active FOBs, transport teammates, maintain a safe spawn APC and use Control Zone rotations to keep those actions available. Hot Zone cash can sustain the loop, but it is not a proven Driver-XP multiplier. Season 2’s cumulative milestones and the October 15 patch make the current in-game unlock screen more reliable than any older tank list, while the absence of an authoritative per-action XP table means a safe, completed logistics route is the most defensible “fastest” strategy.
